I enrolled for 1 month for $16. I never received a response from a client. The company informed me of better ways to reach the clients. Change photo, video, ect. The following month Care.com billed me $20. Mind you I cancel my service. The company offered jobs to far, in the next county. Big waste of time. I'm disputing my charges.
I had filled out a few care.com applications in my area months ago. I did not hear anything, until about 3 weeks ago when I had 2 people getting ahold of me through text messages and emails, saying they want a caregiver, but to avoid us both paying anymore fees for the sight they wanted to work something out, from outside the website. DO NOT BELIEVE THAT, ITS A SCAM! I knew that it was, but I proceeded to talk with the person to see what they had to say to me. The phone number is a text only phone, because she is "hearing impaired" and can only communicate through text and email. Yeah right! I wrote an email back to her saying I was interested in the job, and BAM! Within 1 day of not even knowing who I was or seeing me face to face, I WAS HIRED! And not only hired, but she is sending me a check for 3500$ In ADVANCE to pay for hearing aids to her mother and advanced pay to show she was serious about hiring me. It's all a bunch of crap, "her" cell phone is in MA, the check is from a fake bank in TN, and it was sent from a fake company in NY. I let her send the check because I was curious to see the horrible fake check job that was being sent to me. It's bad. Like people think we are not going to look these places and addresses up? It's horrible through this sight! If someone emails you and tells you that you're hired and sends you a check! It's a scam! Do not cash that check, it will be your butt in the end paying back real money, for fake money!
It's an expensive service to find a caregiver. I've yet to find a caregiver through care.com after 3 attempts as a member. I'll never use this service again. No shows, no communication, I've tried hiring 4 different care.com members and not a single one was reliable.
Within minutes of my first experience with Care.com I was already angered by blatantly dishonest business practices. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
I have applied to well over a 150 Dog Walking jobs with no response. I have a background check with many happy customers. I do have references. I have also applied for Senior Care giver jobs and I have been scamed. I have received threating emails as well as text messages. I believe they do not want you to speak on the telephone with possible customers. I had the 20.00 a month plan no difference over the free plan. You can not list your phone number or web site. You never receive a response back. What a scam website!
Very disappointed in this website. There is no live person to contact in regards to questions. I have answered and contact many people, my profile is complete, I have back round check and references attached. I would not recommend this website to any one.
I had to give one star other wise I couldn't submit my profile. No star from me.
You can apply for many jobs on Care.com and get nothing.
Even when I payed once I had no responds to any of my applications.
I also tried to write to clients about my friends who need jobs through my
Profile of course it didn't work and my profile was terminated for that.
For over 5 years I had only one job contacting and it wasn't even a dissent
Job, only payed $10 a hour.
It is a whole deal to set up a profile on the site.
I've applied for many jobs, especially this past month in NJ and NY and nothing.
They are too many caregivers on the site anyway.
Word of mouth, hanging flyers, getting connections through hospitals and nursing home privately works better.
Yeah, the site is overcrowded. Too many caregivers, too many liners who don't want to pay the right price and too many unnecessary rules.
I answered an ad for a part time nanny position. I went to work for her 4 children, 7 year old 2 year old twins and a baby. The parents have not paid me as agreed. In fact they owe me $1000. I would like to warn other potential care givers to not answer this families request for care givers but care.com does not make it easy to file a claim.
My experience with care.com is extremely frustrating! Tons of things wrong in the design of the site, and with the coding. And I do mean "tons". More than once I found my car ownership changed from "YES" to "NO". My bio has been changed numerous times - one time the top half and bottom third was missing. They literally changed the wording of my bio! AND THEIR CHANGES ARE GRAMMATICALLY INCORRECT which makes me look stupid. If a person wants to setup 2 profiles, one for babysitting, another for housekeeping, each with a different JOB SCHEDULE - it can NOT be done. Care.com only give ONE job schedule regardless of how many jobs you want to do. It takes forever to get referrals approved and displayed on my profile. There are so many things wrong, I could go on and on.
Care.com will continue to charge your credit card monthly even if you only sign up for one month. There is no monthly bill, so there is no way of tracking the charges unless you notice it on your monthly bank statements. It took me over 6 months to notice I was being charged. Not worth the money.
I am very disappointed in care.com. While I did find a baby sitter, their customer service and charging tactics were not worth the trouble. I signed up for one month and found a caregiver quickly and they proceeded to continue to charge my credit card month after month after month without ever sending an email, statement, or anything notifying me of charges taken on my credit card. Any other company on auto pay, sends statements telling me I am about to be charged. I filed a dispute and the are refusing to refund my money even though I never agreed to these charges or used the website after the first month. Very frustrated...
A child put my name and email address into their site after seeing their commercial on TV. Now, I cant find anyway to stop getting emails from them. VERY ANNOYING. Makes them seem like a scam of some kind.
This company is worthless. I am extremely qualified to be a caregiver in my area. With few sitters available, pickings are slim. I have applied for over 20 jobs and gotten 0 (zero) responses.
What I have gotten is individuals who are trying to scam me. All claim to have gotten my phone number for my profile (not possible). They are all from out of state and the context from their texts indicate a lack of English grammar. I agreed to meet the first one, just to see if she would show up (she did not). I had checked her out and ask too many questions she couldn't answer. Especially the request for my SS number to "set up payroll". I told the next THREE to contact me only through the website and not use my phone any further for communication. Of course non did. Nor did they have profiles on Care.com.
I contacted Care.com each time and stated my concerns about scammers and questioned if there were other complaints. Care.com have never answered any of my emails on the matter.
I now question the legitimacy of the site and too wonder if they have sold my information.
Be aware... Very aware.
Websites like care.com intentionally make it hard to delete account info. The best way to get your cc info off sites like care.com is to change/edit your cc info with a bogus, made-up account number.
They trap you into needed to do a trial to see any information. Then they take money off your card with out your permission I had to cancel that card. They have no way of communicating with anyone regarding your charges.
Bad and deceptive business practices. Automatic subscription extensions.
Care.com employs unethical and illegal business practices. They use a "Bait and switch" marketing model, advertising a one-month Premium Membership that they then use to continue to bill your credit card without your knowledge.
In response to care.com's comments: Care.com is WELL AWARE that their "disclosure" is difficult if not impossible to find. If it was so clear, then there would not be hundreds if not thousands of complaints about unethical billing practices! If you were SO SINCERE about your apology, you would notify your "clients" EVERY SINGLE TIME you billed them, which you DO NOT DO. Other companies have no issue doing that; I pay Adobe, the Times, etc. monthly and I know it's happening because THEY REVEAL IT by supplying a receipt. Your practices ARE DECEPTIVE and fraudulent AND YOU WELL KNOW IT. Shame on you.
Hi Catherine - all of our subscriptions do automatically renew until cancelled which is clearly stated on the upgrade page when you had selected your initial subscription. This is also outlined in our Terms of Use, and in the initial email you had received when upgrading your membership. I am sorry if you are unaware of this feature, and if you haven't done so already, please reach out to our Member Care team and we are happy to take a look at your account and see how we can assist in any way we can.
DON'T EVER USE THIS SITE. MY DAUGTHER GOT SCAMMED WITH THE MOVING INTO THE AREA LETTER AND NEED YOU CASH SOME CHECKS TO PAY MOVING PEOPLE AND GET CAR. THIS SITE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE INTERNET AS YOU CAN SEE FROM MOST REVIEWS, IT HAS MORE SCAMMERS THAN LEGIT PEOPLE.
JUST GET A JOB THE OLD FASHIONED WAY.
Jeffrey, we are very sorry to hear about your daughter's experience. Care.com has a safety team working around the clock to prevent things like fraud from happening on the site. Unfortunately, job searching internet scams are on the rise. Unfortunately, this particular type of scam is generally taking place off the Care.com site - communicating through personal email or text message - which makes it much more difficult for our monitoring tools to detect. We always recommend our members to keep all communication on the Care.com site while initially communicating with members. Please refer to the Care.com safety center should you have any further concerns about this, and feel free to reach out to our Member Care team to report this and make sure that our Safety Team is aware.
I have been with them for over five years now and have worked for four families who found me on here. It's hard to find work in the field of Caregiving and I am thankful finding this site and for helping the families find me. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews but my experience has been a good one.
Hi Susan - We're so happy to hear you have been able to find some great families! We completely agree that it can be difficult to find jobs, but like any position you are looking for it is important to do everything you can to make yourself stand out above other applicants. Congrats on all your hard work, and best wishes going forward!
Should add a "0" star rating. Website is so horribly designed and organized it is impossible to review profiles. 'Favorites' disappear, search reloads from the beginning after you've reviewed 100s of profiles (most clicked "hide" or "x"ed out-- for being completely unsuitable) and there they are again so all your reviewing is down the crapper. So annoying after 2 hours I cancelled the day I joined. If they can't run a reliable website for their own business, how good could their candidates be? Answer: I got 1 response to a friendly flexible job descrip-- from a candidate who could only work at times I specifically said wouldn't work. So Completely Useless.
Hi Chamberlain, I'm very sorry to hear you have been having technical troubles with the website. Any time you select someone as a favorite, they will be listed in the "My Caregivers" section of your profile, and will not be removed unless you have clicked on the Favorite heart again to remove them. These are not issues that we have heard before, and I would recommend trying to use a different web browser, or trying to clear the cookies on your browser - typically either of these two solutions will solve problems like this with the website. You can always reach out at 877-227-3115 and let us know if you are having difficulty, and our Member Care team will be more than happy to help you through these issues!
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
