Communication issues and no sense of wrong doing
March 13, 2023

BuyAutoParts.com is one the worst car auto parts site that I have ever dealt with. In my view, they do not have their act together and I am left with headaches and a company that does not care. I should have done some more research on their review before going to them. After waiting half a month I still don't have a part, and my car is sitting at the mechanic. In my optics, BuyAutoParts does NOT care and have not shown any interest in helping.
I had gone on the website, entered my car make, model and year and a recommended part was shown for Rack and Pinion for my 2016 Hyundai Genesis. They sent the order to me as ordered. On their website they have the fitting guarantee, so I did not hesitate to order the part. When I got the part, we discovered that the part was for a RWD and mine car is an AWD. This was probably a mistake on my part when clicking on the website (however I don't believe I was asked question regarding AWD vs RWD on the website), but I will take this as my mistake. BuyAutoParts.com sent me a return label and refunded the amount (after 11 days, March 11th, roughly $1600).
In the meantime, I got on a call with them and was able to purchase the "correct" part (roughly $1300 with (core -$150)) although on-line it said they were out-of-stock (My roughly $1600 was not credited yet, but I still said ok). Eddie, they guy I spoke with, said that they had the parts coming in so that they could re-manufacture. This occurred on March 1 2023. The ordered got created, I was notified by e-mail and all should have been good. A few days later when I went online to check my order (on their website), the order still said "processing". As I had not heard anything from BuyAutoParts.com, I gave them a call on March 9th 2023. First I spoke to customer service who had absolutely no clue on what was going on with my order and that someone would call me back. Eddie then called me, apologized and said that there were apparently some issues with the order and they actually did not have the parts. This was somehow not communicated to Eddie and therefore I was not notified about it. Eddie then told me that a few parts were coming in, they would re-manufacture my part, expedited shipment for Friday so that I could have it Monday March 13th. I said fine as at least I would get the part.
Well, still no emails and no parts today March 13th 2023 and I call BuyAutoParts back. First I connect them in their "Chat" and I am told there is a 'minor issue' with my order and that they will call me back. I decided to call them instead and perhaps speak with a manager. They lady I spoke to first told me they do not have the part, and therefore not able to complete the order. The option I have is to cancel the order or perhaps send it my core, they re-manufacture it and send it back for the same price). I said (probably quite angrily) that this was not acceptable, and I need to speak with a manager. I have been waiting and no communication to me. Steve, the manager then gets on the call. Steve said the same thing about the part and there was nothing he could do. I could either cancel the order or I could send my part in for remanufacture. I did ask for a discount, and was offered $30. I did mention to Steve about this whole situation, but there was nothing they could do.
I was only told about this situation as I contacted them, they had still not contacted me by email or phone. I was quite upset, obviously, as I have now waited since end of Feb for the part to come so that I can get it installed in my car. The car is at my mechanic and waiting for the part. As I don't know what the mechanic has done with the part while waiting for it, I told them I will call them next day to either cancel the order or send in my own part so that they could re-manufacture it. Again, I was upset so while hanging up I said something about they really do not care about their customers and that they did not want to do business. Steve took this as I wanted to cancel the order. (Refund is not the issue - I think), but it will take days before it shows back in my account). The reason I found out that Steve had cancelled the order is because I called them back (10-15 min later) wanting to cancel the order (my mechanic could not take out the part and have my car sitting on the floor, it would take up space for other repairs) but when they looked up the order, it was already cancelled. That is what I mean by Steve already cancelling the o rder (He must be able to look into the future).
I am not going to conduct business with them, and they obviously do not want my business. They did not show any remorse, did not really want to work with me and I am left on my own. Still without the part and headache to find the part after half a month. This part is very hard to find and once I found it at BuyAutoParts, I stopped my search obviously.
First off, I would like BuyAutoParts to acknowledge that they, in this case, did not have their act together and they should have been communicating with me. Since they do not have the part, there is not much they can do, I cannot send my part back. My situation was according to me handled very unprofessionally and when the part was not in stock, I should just have been notified and I would have continued my search for the part elsewhere instead of waiting.
I am also going to place this review anywhere I can so that potential customer are at least aware of my situation.

Tip for consumers:

Dont buy from here

BuyAutoParts sells defective parts
July 1, 2021

BuyAutoParts MX5 Mazda Miata Defective Rack & Pinion Steering Assembly

A certified mechanic installed it in my car, re-aligned the car, test drove it multiple times and discovered that the inner tie rod that was part of the assembly I purchased was defective. I have a video of the defective inner tie rod that came with the assembly making loud clunking noises. This is after he spent hours troubleshooting what the problem was and replacing other parts that cost me more time and money. He spent more time and my money and test drove the car four more times and there was still a loud clunking sound that was the new the inner tie rod on the rack & pinion steering system I spent over $400 for at BuyAutoParts.

I still have not had my car for weeks and spent much additional time and money because of this defective part - wasted repair time, money spent on installing, alignment, multiple test drives & diagnosing, and the installation of other unnecessary parts to try to correct the problem my time and aggravation.

Wasted time & money spent on installing, alignment, multiple test drives & diagnosing, and installation of other unnecessary parts to try to correct the problem.

ALL THEY WOULD OFFER ME WAS TO RETURN THE ASSEMBLY FOR ANOTHER ONE WHICH IS MORE SUNK LABOR COSTS DUE TO THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS.

Miata Tech Time & Cost at a $90/hour rate:
3 hours – Wasted Install time - $270
1 hour - Wasted alignment - $90
1 hour - 4 test drives - $90
5 hours - $450 for Installation of new front suspension to troubleshoot clunking noise by defective inner tie rod on R&P assembly

My Personal Time & Cost: 2 hours

Total personal cost incurred for a defective part from BuyAutoParts - $1,115.24

Tip for consumers:

They do not cover ADDITIONAL incurred labor costs due to their defective parts. They incent their customer service reps to not pay out anything.

Products used:

Defective rack & pinion steering assembly.

I never had this happen to me
September 30, 2020

Where do I start. I bought an Ac compressor for my 2007 nissan altima that I needed very badly because it was about to fall off my car. I bought this off buyautoparts site on Sept 12,2020 at 3:08 pm MST. I got a confirmation email and waited to get my part. On sept 17th. I got an email saying my package was delivered. I was excited because it was quicker than I thought. So I went outside and looked everywhere. I looked online and it said to wait 3 days when say delivery on their website because sometimes it's wrong to then make a claim so I did just that. On monday I still did not recieve my package so I called and we made a report. I was told they could send me a new part that day which I was excited for. A few days pass and no confirmation of the new part so I call again with them then telling me with an open investigation they can't send a new part till the investigation was done. So I waited till today, sept 30th 2020 which was 7 business days from when i made my claim for investigation on monday sept 21st. I got 3 people telling me different things, being hung up on repeatedly by a women named katherine. I wish I would have gotten her employee number because either she just wanted to hang up on me or just didn't want to call me back. I kept calling because I wanted this resolved. I got on the 3rd try of a women that told me to call UPS so I did. UPS then tells me the tracking number was never mine, not the right package, not my address, not my name. That it was something completely different and that they closed the investigation and told buyautoparts this already. I was upset and confused so K call again and get katherine she then finds what i am saying all along when they could of just looked at and seen it instead of giving me the run around. I truly need this part! So i am going to autozone so this will never happen again. Katherine was so cold and did not care. I know I am just a number to them. Her manager or if she was just customer support. I worked on the phones before I know how it works. I am just frustrated that they truly just don't care that they never sent me my part! And act like there is nothing wrong. I have never experienced such bad communication and service in my life. Do not buy from buyautoparts, they are the worst company ever. I truly don't know what's wrong. Or atleast to care about their customers or to even just send me a real email not an automated one on them being sorry they messed up! I really don't get it. This is such a joke! I better get my refund. Because of covid i tried to save money because times are tough right now, but i will be going autozone from now on. I am sad i trusted them to get me part I really needed. I can't believe how unprofessional this company is. I feel bad for the people working for them I know it isn't their fault it makes me sick. I also just think the representative katherine is one of the rudest girls I have ever talked to. I really am just so done!
Also her manager was named Angelica Gamez. Which also was very cold and rude and did not care about me at all. That she told me that oh sorry it happens we didn't mean to. It was so unprofessional. I was shocked.

NEW doesn't mean NEW
September 25, 2019

I needed an AC air compressor for my 1982 Mercedes 380SL. I searched online and found this great offer at BuyAutoParts.com... a NEW compressor for only $271. Other NEW compressors I found were $500-$600. I placed my order, the item came quickly in a few days. I was a little suspicious when I saw the package all beat up. I took the compressor out and was proceeding with the installation when I found the pulleys were frozen, would not turn. I called customer service and got a return authorization and a printable UPS label with no problem. I packaged the compressor in their same boxes, dropped off at UPS and sure enough got my credit back on my credit card within a week (less their $10 Fee). Perfect. But I still needed a compressor. I searched again and found the same 4-seasons compressor at Autozone for $169. Only theirs stated "remanufactured" with 1-year warranty. I ordered at the store and picked it up the next day. Now here's the reason for this review: When I opened the box I found the compressor, the box and packaging was the same as the NEW compressor I had received from BuyAutoParts... right down to the "Mfg in Mexico" sticker! So I emailed BuyAutoParts and asked if the compressor I had purchased was NEW or remanufactured. They referred me to the web description. So I went back online at the BuyAutoParts website and reread the description for the compressor... it DID NOT say remanufactured anywhere! In fact it stated they had made a special purchase of these NEW compressors which allowed them to sell at this low low price. BOTTOM LINE: BuyAutoParts is selling "remanufactured" compressors with a claim that they are NEW. FALSE ADVERTISING! I installed my AutoZone compressor and it worked great! BEWARE of advertising claims by BuyAutoParts.

Shady business - poor practices - stay away
May 21, 2019

I bought a rack from them on May 10 with serious reservations, based on internet research. But I wound up talking myself into it because this company had some mixed reviews and racks are their flagship product I thought I'd give it a shot.

Bad idea. The next morning after I ordered the part, I changed my mind and wanted to cancel the order before it shipped. Hmm... no way to cancel it on the website or in the email generated in my order. So I contact someone from the company.

I talked to Don. He gave me some ridiculous story about how customer service was out for the weekend and that I should check back with someone on Monday at 8am PDT and that I could cancel the order no problem. I tell Don I'm worried the part will go out against my wishes, and I wanted to leave a note for someone who could do it first thing Monday morning. He provides an email account and I send a note to the account with my order number and I ask for the order to be cancelled and to please refund the money. That thread ultimately went nowhere.

I also followed up on Monday morning at 8am PT, right on the dot. I get Alex from the "customer" team in a live chat. And he informs me that the part was already shipped. Too bad! The order can't be refunded or cancelled now.

I objected strenuously, as the problem was created by buyautoparts.com. It was a $400 part - not an insignificant amount of money. Nevertheless, Alex refused to issue the refund and offered only to recall the package from UPS and said that once the part was received back from UPS I would be refunded.

Time passes and UPS tracking says the part was returned to sender on Friday May 17,2019. I send them a copy of the UPS confirmation and ask them to return the funds and to confirm ASAP that the refund was processed.

But they're not in a hurry. Nearly 24 hours passes before I get a response. A company rep named Reden replies to my message, again refusing to return the funds and gives me some story about how they needed time to inspect the part. Yes - you read that right. A part they wrongly shipped, a part I did not want, a part I never touched, is now subject to some amorphous "inspection" before they will agree to even begin processing the refund. Of course, I objected strenuously - to no avail.

Let's recap, shall we?

1. What Don told me on 5/11, the day after I ordered the part, turned out to be false and misleading.

2. What Alex told me on 5/13, when I again contacted the company to cancel the order and get my refund, turned out to be false and misleading.

3. The information about the refund policy on the buyautoparts.com website is false and misleading.

4. UPS records reflect that the part was first scanned at 7:24pm on Monday the 14th, which contradicts the whole pretext behind their refusal to refund me on the 14th.

This company is a customer service disaster. Deal with them at your own risk. What they are doing to me is illegal -- it will take a class action lawsuit to get them to change. Based on my interactions with at least 3 people in the company, it appears that up and down the organization they're unethical and not customer-oriented. Nothing they say will ever check out. You will have to fight for every inch.

Take it from me: buy your car parts elsewhere.

Do not buy from Buy Auto Parts
February 16, 2019

Do not buy from Buy Auto Parts. Com at Amazon. Bad and
Defective parts: 104 BBB complaints and many, many very bad customer reviews
For DOA and defective parts. Their website and Amazon page is all false
Hyperead the bad reviews and don't get screwed.

Reviews See: https://www.bbb.org/us/ca/san-diego/profile/new-auto-parts/buyautopartscom-*******2663, https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.buyautoparts.com

On 7/9/18 I Purchase A/C Compressor
AC-60-*******NA from Buy Auto Parts (BAP) via Amazon.com for $135.22 for my 2003
Honda Accord. On 7/16/18 my mechanic installed and determined that the
Compressor to be defective. It Locked up and sent metal particle throughout the
Cars AC system.

BAP's defective compressor
Cost me over $1000. 00 to repair my AC to working condition.

After numerous emails and
Explanations with BAP customer service, the AC compressor was returned to BAP
For their inspection, which was BS. Never heard about their so called and FAKE
Part evaluation that BAP said it needed to do. After much delay and further
Emails with their not so friendly customer service, BAP would not refund my
Money. Instead they said I had a store credit of $135.22. What a joke, I found out recently to redeem
The store credit.

BAP is not reputable. There
Is nothing on BAP website or on BAP's Amazon page that identifies store credit
Is your only return option. A reputable business could and would issue a
Refund. If you pay with a credit card then: dispute the charge!

I now find out that the store
Credit is un usable because BAP does not have any of the typical auto parts
Customers would typically find from any auto parts retailers.

According to the many bad
Past customer reviews, and many BBB complaints, new customers continue to get
Screwed by BAP selling defective parts for good money that they do not intend
To refund when caught.

On 2/15/19 I submitted a
Complaint to BBB when I found that BAP did not even have spark plugs or other
Auto parts that are easily available from all other retailers, making BAP's
Store credit useless and a sham. BAP's store credit requires special order of
Most routine auto parts and further delay in actually getting the part you
Need.
