I surprised there are so many negative reviews, I have ordered from several other online sites that sent me are beautiful. I order Hibiscus and these have not blossomed yet, but I know they do not always blossom in Y1. I also received two rose plants that have bloomed with beautiful mini roses. Same thing with my hollyhocks. I would HIGHLY recommend and will absolutely order from them again for my flowers!
2 years in a row I have purchased several different seed packets from burpee. I have 50 yrs experience planting seeds. Out of a dozen, maybe 1 seed will sprout. I have other brand seeds growing in identical conditions that work. So it's not like I'm doing something wrong.
I ordered two live plants. Email said they were delivered by UPS to my porch. After looking all around and asking neighbors on both sides, I found nothing. I opened two tickets as directed on Burpees website and posted a request for customer service on one of their Facebook posts. I never heard from them. It's not their fault UPS didn't deliver to me but UPS said work with the seller and I received No customer service. I won't buy from Burpee again.
I have had problems with Burpee shipping live plants as designated for my agricultural zone. Generally the plant arrive in ok condition. Recently, they have claimed a computer error put my shipment back a month and a half even though ship dates started March 27. After repeated calls, email and FB messages to the company to correct the error, they are now stating they have 14 business days to ship it, which will still put me outside of optimal planting time. They constantly avoid correction of their error and do nothing to expedite the product which I have paid for since February. The customer service is spotty and most seem to try to make excuses.
Ordered an Olympian fig plant, a rose and 2 gooseberries. The fig and rose arrived today in one box. The fig plant was ONE INCH tall. Info said 4 to 8 inches tall. Customer service said that means plant will reach 8 inches when MATURE. What a JOKE! A mature fig tree with large figs 8" tall. So I cancelled gooseberries. Kept straggly rose and tiny fig because I must pay for return; and am too tired haggling, but will NEVER BUY from Burpee again. Pathetic. Picture of $30+ plant in my pot.
Tip for consumers:
Make sure that the inflated descriptions are true and honest. Research return policy and take screen shots of order and info for credit card complaint- if need be later.

Kept the diminutive fig plant and the straggly rose because spent too much time planting in my pots.
I ordered garlic to plant this fall - the stuff I received was sprouted, soft and had brown spots on the cloves - looks like it was stored in a basement long term! Out of all the bulbs I got I hardly had enough healthy specimens for 2 small rows! Very disappointed and I will not be ordering from them again
Tip for consumers:
dont buy garlic from them!

I picked a few of the healthy cloves to plant - the rest are garbage
I ordered plants in January and they never let me know when they would be shipped. Of the six plants on my ordered they sent them one at a time. I think this place is overpriced for the quality of plant you get. I won't use them again
I have purchased my seeds and plants for burpee for 30 years, and my father did before me. It is with great disappointment that I find myself unable to continue to do so.
For the last 4 years I have purchased the heirloom tomato collection. The first year it was excellent. 6 plants, 4 varieties of heirloom plants, great flavors, healthy and productive.
The second year two of the plants were not heirlooms, instead they were Burpee Big Boy Hybrid tomatoes. A very nice tomato, but not what I ordered. They automatically sent me a coupon to allow me to get two free tomatoes the next year.
The next year I used that coupon, but still got two hybrid tomatoes. Hmm. Odd but I put it down to the coupon and went on with life.
In 2020 I received 6 tomatoes, 3 of which were Hybrids. Not Heirlooms. Not what I ordered or wanted. When I called to see what the deal was, I was told that Hybrids were Heirlooms. Clearly not true and very disappointing that they thought I was so stupid.
I won't be buying anything from Burpee anymore. I'll buy my plants at the local greenhouse, which, although they have a smaller selection, doesn't treat me like an idiot and fully appreciates my business. Should have been doing that all along.
Tip for consumers:
Be very critical about what you buy

Our tomato plants ordered weeks ago have not come. Our daughter has received hers. We received a later order. We've emailed. No answers. We've called. They're not accepting calls. Online info still says in progress. Frustrating.
Ordered several tomato plants. 2 months into growing the tomatoes would start turning red but then would rot out before full red. When I contacted them their response was "eat the good part and throw out the rotten part". What an idiotic response.
