Deceptive unethical business owner
August 17, 2021

I have used BringFido.com (BF) as a traveler, and have advertised with them as an owner of a vacation rental for many years. I only received an occasional inquiry, nevertheless I thought the service was worth my yearly subscription fee, for the potential guest booking I would occasionally receive. My ad was first on the page for my area since I had been with them so long.
This past year, I noticed my inquiries drop to practically zero (prior to COVID), but I was still receiving inquiries from other advertising platforms that I was on, but not BF. Then I discovered that when people would put in the city name (where my listing is located) in BF's search engine, it would default to one particular advertiser, which just happened to be a large resort. Thus every search went only to that one advertiser, and was impossible to navigate to another place whether the resort had availability or not. So now I understood why my inquiries dropped to zero.

At first I thought it was a glitch, and called to inform them of the issue. They assured me that they would address it. Months went by but the problem remained. Subsequent calls and tickets were created, and each time the staff at BF stated they could see what the problem was, it shouldn't be like that, and they would get it fixed.
After a handful of calls/complaints over X amount of months, and technical issue tickets created without resolving the problem, I insisted the owner be informed. I had hoped to get my issue addressed and resolved once and for all. Well guess what, all my complaints were going in one ear and out the other. I found out that the "glitch" was nothing of the sort, and instead is was purposeful. I was told BF was in the process of "changing their business model", to "partner with certain exclusive establishments", and "all other advertisers would be phased out".
So all the money I had spent and the grief and aggravation I went through was a total waste. That is not to mention the potential lost revenue during these hard times that was lost.

When I expressed my dismay over this and said I would file a BBB complaint if they didn't rectify the deceptive practice, the employee said the owner decided to terminate my ad, effective immediately. Then to top things off, she said my place (that was still on there website via VRBO, which is one of their biggest partners) would also be taken down.
This was purely an emotion based response, since I had the temerity to question their new business practices.
The owner is clearly greedy, unethical, unprofessional, and an emotion based person. She doesn't see or care how she has harmed people who had a long standing business relationship with her business.

Worse, for all the travelers who want to find a place to bring their dog, but do not want to pay hefty fees, BringFido's new system only directs them to places that charge extra fees that are hidden. For example, instead of being able to book directly with an owner like myself, they are redirected to more expensive type of places (higher nightly costs) that take a commission.
Additionally, these places typically have much greater restrictions on the size of dogs, number of dogs, and mandatory non-refundable fees. So it is the travelers who also are adversely effected by a site they once depended on, to find a suitable and affordable place for their furry family members.
