Worst store ever. I ordered three books. Long waited. As a result, I get the answer: the first book is not available. The second one doesn't either. The third was sent, but not the one that ordered. If you don't want problems, choose books in another store!

Worst store ever. I ordered three books. Long waited. As a result, I get the answer: the first book is not available. The second one doesn't either. The third was sent, but not the one that ordered. If you don't want problems, choose books in another store!

Find the book on Booktopia Australia's LOCAL store
I proceed wit purchase with BUY NOW
(page print) Ships in 10 to 15 business days
It was 28 November plenty of time to Christmas and: AM LOCAL.
After I pay I receive e-mail:

We have processed your order and where required confirmed the availability of the items with our suppliers.

The page ad was BUY NOW?
In my book this is misleading they are selling books they do not have?
OK you can do that, but in this case be hones and print we ORDER THIS BOOK.
But asking for full payment for something you do not have it is not honest business.

No update received by email, so I call this LOCAL STORE. Luckily in my order I included message to seller: do not accept my order if you can not deliver to Christmas. They ignore my message even they know they do not have the book and they could not deliver it. So I get my refund. But if I did not call I would not received my Christmas gift.
You see this type shady selling practices from eBay's sellers, so watch out, our LOCAL STORES jump on this wagon now too.

BUY NOW - in this case means the seller actually have it.

Like many others have mentioned says book is in stock then it's not and has to be orded from a warehouse. That was fine by me I made the order on the 5th of November for a gift on the 3rd of December yeah well I'm am currently still waiting for it to arrive.

Ordered apparently 'In Stock' items. The website states 2-3 business days for delivery. Next day I receive an email saying the title I ordered will be in their Warehouse in 15 days! Being sent from their supplier, just another company pretending to be Australian when really all of their stock is ordered from overseas AFTER you pay for your order. Misleading and Zero follow up replies to my enquiries. Truly hopeless, use anyone else is my advice..

Having received a faulty product (book with repeated pages... very unusual), requested a replacement book. This request was rejected as I had not informed Booktopia within 2 days of receipt? I thought if you paid for a product, and received a faulty version, you are entitled to a replacement?!

Screwed up my Christmas order. Very slack service and communication. Took my money without hesitation but had to wait for refund. No time left to get alternative Christmas gift. Very annoyed as website said item was in stock and I would receive before Christmas.

I put up with bad things all the time and I'm tired of it. My latest experience with Booktopia is one of these bad experiences and I feel I want to say something so that business practices change. I purchased a book which clearly stated on the website that it would ship within 2 weeks. I chose Booktopia for this reason, because I thought I would get the book around a week sooner than an overseas business such as Amazon, thinking it is stock in Australia. After purchase and after following up a month later, I was informed that the book would take 6 weeks to arrive to the Sydney warehouse, then I would later be informed of a tracking number from there to Melbourne. This will be an 8-10 week delivery on an advertised 2-3 week delivery. Nowhere on the site mentioned the book was out of stock. It's a 'take the money, then order the product' company and consumers need to aware and information should be clearer. If you don't carry the product, please don't advertise that you do. I would have been happier paying double the book price for air-freight from overseas and receiving the book in the advertised period.

Can't actually believe how terrible this company is. Ordered books on basis they were available. They weren't. Now almost four weeks later I have heard nothing from them, yet have already been paying for the order via afterpay. I also can't get through on their line which for over a week has been met with "due to an extremely high number of callers..." blah blah blah.
Terrible service. I will never, ever use them again.

Ordered 2 books through Booktopia. Order said ship within 15 business days.
First book arrived after 19 business days. Second book has still not arrived after 45 business days. Requested refund and was ignored until I raised a PayPal dispute, Now they say they will only refund if I cancel dispute. Do not trust this business. Would never use again.

You know it might be just hecking peachy for some of your customers to purchase everything online. I dont have that option. Thanks booktopia for making impossible for me to uni books anymore. I honestly wish co-op would come back- at least i was able to physically go into the store. Customer service is a joke. The whole thing is just a hecking joke.

2 weeks now since I ordered my books. I've sent emails, no reply.
Rang help line number. Apparantly all staff in a meeting. Happy to take my money but can you at least get back to me?

Order books for next semester. 3-4 day supposed posting after a week nothing. They said 1 book was in and waiting on the other. Could NOT contact then by phone but on live chat they contradicted the information I had received and said they had no idea as to when 1 book would be in "probably" 2 weeks". I cancelled order and have asked for refund that has not been received as yet.

Books listed as ready for shipment in 1-2 days. A week later, they're still not dispatched. Almost impossible to phone as it takes almost an hour to get through. Online chat readily available but they just lie. One will say the orders escalated, next person says it's "stuck" in the warehouse, next person says it's being sent express. Next person says they can't give a dispatch date. I think we have a case for the ACCC.

That was a terrible experience. Not again at all. I got a reader leather cover. And 4-5 days I sent an email them. The answer by customer service is '' too late'' in only 2 days we can help you!. Thanks, I will do not again with you!

Bought an Ebook and paid $27.95 via credit card. Book never downloaded, my money gone. Contacted customer service and got the run-around. The customer service officer made it look like I didn't know what I was doing - told me how I should download on Mac/IOS after I advised I use Microsoft and Android. After a few messages that didn't go anywhere I gave up and will let karma do what it does well. What goes around comes around. Will have nothing more to do with this site ever again.

My university uses Booktopia to order our books from for our units. I searched my unit, saw the book that's needed and bought it. A week or so later, but as early as I could have been told, our lecturer said we needed a different book and was told to ignore what was on Booktopia. I then had a live chat with Booktopia and explained the situation, that there was an error on their website and I had purchased the wrong book and asked if I could exchange for the right book. I was then told no I couldn't, it was my fault I got the wrong book as I hadn't checked with my lecturer first, that their website is a guide only' (but that's not written anywhere) but why would I need to check with my lecturer first if when I search my unit that's what comes up? Isn't that what normally happens with a booklist website, it's correct? Apparently it's classed as a change of mind purchase' which they don't refund, even though I asked for an exchange, not refund. I now have a $50 book which is of no use to me. Wont be recommending this place to friends and family.

Ordered a book 2 weeks ago. Said it was in stock and should be delivered within a few business days. Two weeks later and still nothing. Have sent two messages and they are not responding. The live chat had also popped up in two instances, when clicking on it, it informed me it was not available. Will never order through this company again.

I pre-ordered a book and when it arrived in stock (and was shipped), that stock was immediately put on sale regardless of my already having purchased full price.
I contacted them about this as to me it appeared to be a discrepancy and their explanation was deflecting toward my question, and they didn't really give me an explanation which seemed logical or sensible.
They explained that they had changed suppliers (printing company for the book).
The new stock was on sale, whereas the pre-order stock wasn't(despite coming into stock at the exact same time?), due to it being cheaper, according to the customer service individual (Jannah) who I spoke with.
However, the RRP of the new stock (Jannah said was cheaper) was almost $10 more than the pre-order stock I purchased (apparently the more expensive version, according to Jannah).

She never actually explained why a percentage discount wasn't applied to pre-orders versus fresh stock.
I would have been more than happy not receiving any level of refund if there had been an explanation which made sense and didn't seem like an attempt to insult my intelligence or just simply deflect my question.
Very poor experience and I would not purchase from this company again... Nor recommend anyone to purchase from them given my experience when there are a plethora of other more decently minded and run companies out there.
It seemed quite disingenuous and they replied with the a-typical corporate falsities in the guise of niceness and "appreciation" of my feedback (Again... Without ever actually addressing my point about the sale).

I ordered a book for my studies. I call them back a few weeks later to check when the books were going to arrived, they promised to shipped them straight away. A week later I called them back just to know that they didn't even have the book. I just hope they give my money back as they promised. Very unhelpful customer service too.

Their customer service is non existent. They don't answer their phones and when they do they cannot help you. After years of spending thousands of dollars with them, I will never buy from them again.

Don't Waste your time. Ordered a book which was meant to be in stock.
Over 6 business days & nothing happened. Asked twice about the order & was told 2-3 more days each time. Ended up having to get a refund & go somewhere else.

Order arrived damaged. Contacted Booktopia and never got a response. This was a gift for someone so a big waste of time for me. Damaged appeared to be caused by careless packaging. Plenty of book suppliers out there so NEVER AGAIN!
