BooksRun advertised a book for sale claiming it was in "very good" condition. When the book arrived I found it had extensive underlining (in ink) and margin notes. The book industry has some pretty objective definitions of what "very good" condition is. The book I got was about 3 or 4 grades down from that - either "poor" or "reading copy" would be about right, or maybe "acceptable" - but that'd be a stretch. Among other things, "very good" includes the words "any defects noted." BooksRun did not note any such defects.
I've bought over 100 books online and on a couple of occasions some book hasn't arrived to me as advertised. In all those cases the seller immediately responded by saying either "here's a complete refund, sorry, go ahead and keep the book" or else sent me a UPS return label so I could send the book back to them at no cost to me (other than my time packing and dropping off the book). That's the level of customer service I've come to expect.
Not BooksRun! First they took a long time to respond. Then they wanted several pictures - multiple pictures of the damage, plus two separate pictures of different labels they'd attached to the book; one on the spine, one on the back. Then an approximately one-week wait. Then they replied "We declare/decide that the book is really in very good condition" and offered me a 20% discount. Also they refused to accept the book and/or issue a refund if I sent it back to them.
Note that the definition of "very good" I used, was Biblio's, and BooksRun sold me this book via Biblio. But many other industry-standard definitions say the same thing, use the same criteria.
If you love doing business with false advertisers who baldly lie that a book's in a better condition than it really is, and follow up with very aggravating bureaucratic runaround, evasion, and denial of both fact and responsibility, suit yourself - go ahead and buy yourself a headache, or a series of them.
If you want a quality book backed up by good - or even half-decent - customer service, pay attention to the name of the company and run away from BooksRun as fast as you can!
I had a full box of book sets in great condition. One was downgraded to acceptable with zero explanation. Seems like you just didn't want to pay the agreed upon price. No longer trust this company when it comes to valuing a book I ship in. If there had been some provided proof reasoning I would have been fine with it. But I know the set was more like new than acceptable. Feels like a rip off/scam company.

One of the books I sent was marked as acceptable for zero explanation. Considering it was in barely used condition, I will not be sending anything else to this company.
Booksrun received my books on 12/6/2024 and I was expected to receive a check. An entire month went by and NOTHING! I called several times to remedy the issue and after talking to Natalie and several others on multiple occasions I finally received my money via PayPal. Use another company to sell your books. Save yourself the headache. They aren't even recognized on the BBB. That tells me everything I need to know.
