I highly recommend this book. It is a vampire romance set in 1970. The author takes us into a Celtic mythological history of how vampires came into existence by interweaving it with friends to lovers, a vampire brotherhood, murder, plot twists, characters you will love and plenty of spice with a little humour along the way. I loved Leigh and Michael's story. I can't wait for the next book. I received and advanced reader copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my review of this book.
Two years ago I ran an ad for one of my novels on BookBub. I set a budged of $5/day and it ran with no problems. So on June 15 of this year I decided to create a second ad for my recently released novel. I set an ad budget of $10/day. But within a day or so I received charges from BookBub of $750, (since increased to $760), which had been automatically charged to my PayPal account. I immediately checked the data for the ad and found that my budget of $10/day had been increased to an insane $10,000/day. I contacted BookBub about the error. Their response was, since 'I' had set the budget at $10,000/day, I was stuck with the charges and they were not going to do anything about it, nor refund any of the charges. I don't know how my budget got changed, only that I did not do it. I can only conclude that there is a problem in BookBub's ad-creation program which they refuse to acknowledge. Needless to say, I will not be using BookBub to run ads on. (On a side note, I got exactly one sale for my $760. I did much better with a one-week ad on Facebook for a tenth of the cost.)
Bookbub claims to have huge exposure for advertising and to provide a great return for authors, if they will invest in and are approved for their platform. We have found that their advertising is overpriced and that the exposure is not as great as Bookbub claims. Very minimal return for the investment. Considering the large numbers of consumer readers that Bookbub claims (in excess of 800,000) to give authors access to, the return on advertising investment should be exponentially greater. Advertiser beware, as there are much better platforms for advertising that will offer much greater return. Unless Bookbub makes drastic changes, and is more honest with their advertising reach, they will continue to lose readership and clout. Things are definitely not as they appear in the world of Bookbub advertising.
For starters, many idiotic reviews on here are for books, not the company, bookbub. Most ebooks are trash, which is why they sell them to suckers for cheap or free. Sometimes they are marginally good, and free only to get you to read the other author's books.
The great authors spend years researching their books, months of editing, formatting, and reviewing their book. As a reward, bookbub expects the author's hard work to be given away free or cheap. Anything for free does not have value.
In addition, the ebook retailers take the hard work of the author's reviewing and formatting their book into perfection and trash it all, cramming spacing together into a non-stop robotic reading. In other words, you get what you pay for.
Lots of cheap and even free light reading... mostly fiction with a few autobiographies & "how I became a better person" book. But very few books of substance, and very few with excellent writing. Many of the books would benefit from good editing (some have not had basic proofreading or consistency checking).
There are occasional bargains from experienced skilled authors, and certainly a few well written entertaining new works, but these are the exception. I find too many of these books not worth finishing, and am taking a break from Bookbub to seek out better reading material.
Most of the offeres are books written by women or authors that are on their 100th print. I don't know if the bias is Bookbub or the industsry in general.
BookBub sells ebooks via daily deals. Each day an email is sent with a ebook deal which a BookBub subscriber can choose to purchase.
