Love the place. I post there and enjoy interacting with everyone. Those that don't enjoy bigfooty like a rival site that abuses everyone.
The site is well structured with many forums that are not related to 'footy' ie Aussie Rules. Unfortunately. The people who run the site feel the need to control any discussions of a social or political nature, so that anyone dissenting from their views are banned. If you are looking for online debates based on free expression look elsewhere.

Full of people who can't just discuss the issue at hand maturely rather than mashing the report button and asking for any one that challenges their left wing ideology to be censored. The site owner Adrian Appleyard (Chief) encourages all of this. Balanced and fair are alien concepts to him.
Tip for consumers:
Started using it after becoming disenchanted with Whirlpool but in the end it has become just as bad.

Discussion forum
It used to be a site where you could argue and discuss topics, but nowadays the moderators will ban you for virtually no reason. They also don't address bullying by their own moderators, instead claiming that it was deserved. I liken it to the mental hospital in Cuckoos Nest, with Chief as Nurse Ratched

It's an echo chamber of gargantuan proportions. The accusations of racism, homo and trans phobia as well as personal insults get thrown about with reckless abandon towards anyone even posting anything remotely differing from the Mod and lefty group narrative.
Society Religion and Politics is hilarious if you want to read uninformed and unintelligible strawman arguments against any valid conservative posts. "The Voice" is almost ridiculously over moderated and unless you're a Drag Queen, an Extinction Rebellion member or that far left of Albanese et al - don't bother. You won't last a week against the weakest and most biased mids I've ever encountered on any forum. Certainly don't subscribe - not worth 10c!
I migrated over from OCAU forums to bigfooty forums around 2004 wanting more discussion about the AFL. Was pleasantly surprised to see the vast array of discussion boards for lots of sports, teams and other topics.
If you just want to talk about sport it gets a lot of activity, especially live game day threads. Anything political though you need to toe the extreme left ideology or you'll get banned. Chief himself admits to supporting ANTIFA. The double standards the moderators have is very transparent and they don't even try to hide their biases anymore.
Seems like since Trump became president in 2016 something in the brains of Chief and his site mods snapped. Type in the 3 letters TDS and you're banned.
Anyway, go woke - go broke.
Bigfooty is going down the drain, which is terrific news for the Australian Football community. The site is run by the most insular administrator team online. Most of the mods are pretty good. They sadly have to get their instructions from losers who don't understand their community. All Chief wants to talk about is bland political opinions. I think the worst sub-forum of the site is SRP, where a bunch of cellar dwellers tried to act smart, debating the critical issues of the day. If you are mates with Chief and Wosh, you can do whatever you what. The mods of their side seem to have complete discretion to break the basic rules they enforce. However, you are done for if you cross them or their thin-skin sooky mates. If you disagree with their opinion about a person or worldview, they will find a way to get rid of you. There are no distinct communities anymore. Safe banter could now get you in trouble. The basic topics of discussion for every board and thread usually revolve around AFL or politics. Even unique boards with once thrilling communities (like Bay13 and the SFA) have become general discussion cesspools where nothing interesting happens. The only goodish sub-forum is FJGD. If you want to talk about AFL, go on social media or club-specific forums.

Don't join.
I enjoy using the application very much. I started using the site after I was introduced to it by a friend and I have been impressed with their organization
