Don't preorder Gundam model kits here
August 23, 2022

I preordered about 15 gundam model kits around January 2022 from this website, based on a recommendation of a friend who buys collectibles here. Big mistake! As of mid-August 2022 0 of these preorders have been fulfilled, and I have been periodically cancelling these preorders because I am able to find them easily somewhere else, from domestic retailers that understand how to actually order product from Bandai/Bluefin. I currently now only have 3 gundam kits preordered here, and expect this to become 0 once these kits get reprinted in the next couple of months and are made available for online retailers that know what they are doing.

They give you an estimated delivery date (usually the current month), and when a new month rolls around, the estimated delivery date becomes the month you just entered. What once was an estimated February 2022 delivery becomes March 2022, April 2022, etc). My preorders have an estimated delivery date of August 2022, and I have zero expectation any of these will arrive this month, even if these kits are actually shipping to retailers this month. On September 1st the estimated delivery date on my remaining items will be September 2022, and *surprise!* they won't be delivered then either.

All that is available are mostly decals and p-bandai kits that aren't moving; their existing stock seems to have remained wholly unchanged since I first visited on January 2022. It was hard to tell how bad their process was because *every* place you could buy gunpla in the US in January 2022 was struggling stock-wise. Look, I totally understand that these kinds of shipping issues were very very normal for the last couple of years. It's what made me preorder here; the usual places I buy gundam kits were pretty dry. Production/shipping has since (slowly) ramped back up and while other gunpla sites are starting to pick back up again with inventory the last few months, this website clearly never got the memo. While they may be good for toys or whatever they are just not good at all for gunpla; you are better off going to literally any of the other online stores that sell these model kits. The only positive thing I can say about them is they are the only place I've seen that doesn't take payment on preorders. It's almost like they know that they probably aren't getting any of these items in stock.

Tip for consumers:

Apparently they are ok with most toys/collectibles but ABSOLUTELY DO NOT pre-order Gundam model kits here.

Products used:

None. They are unable to sell me anything.

BBTS isn't worth your time
January 8, 2022

I give BBTS quite a bit of business every year and have for several but that stops for good today. I preordered multiple of the same NECA action figure. I do this for a lot of figures that I love. I'm not a reseller, I just love toys. It was priced at 29.99 with a slashed out price of 31.99... obviously to encourage buyers to pre-order. BBTS canceled my order and when I inquired as to why, as I had the funds & their cancelation email had gone into my spam folder, I was told by their customer service to just reorder it. No problem, or so I thought... I went to do so and noticed they had increased the price to $37.99! This isn't the first time I've witnessed their price gouging in the past year. It's quite disgusting actually. I inquired today, asking if since they suggested I simply reorder, would they match the price of the order they canceled... and no, they won't. They claim the MSRP had changed and they couldn't honor their original price. Unethical business practices, especially when the price remained the same with their competitors.

They actually encouraged me to order from Dorkside Toys, when I suggested I would. The customer service representative also stated he hoped Dorkside could secure the amount of figures I wanted, like my wanting multiple of something is some sort of problem. Trust me, even though Dorkside has a set limit, I can make multiple orders without issue and they don't make condescending remarks regarding the amount of anything in my order either.

There are plenty of other companies out there that will appreciate my business and would've gone above and beyond to keep me as a customer. Even something as simple as reprocessing my order which BBTS is supposedly incapable of doing. If I can do a good deed today, it will be advising anyone that reads this to take your business elsewhere and avoid Big Bad Toy Store... the "Bad" in their name is apparently very fitting.

Update: BBTS is now associating themselves with Premium DNA aka Megalopolis Toys. That pretty much speaks volumes... Everyone in the toy collecting community knows that Megalopolis Toys was/is being sued by Entertainment Earth and has scammed hundreds of customers, myself included. Should we continue to purchase from Big Bad Toy Store when they align themselves with absolute thieves?

READ THIS BEFORE SHOPPING AT BBTS
July 16, 2020

I'm going to be very very honest here. BigBadToyStore is not the worst online store I have purchased from, but it in no way is anywhere near the best. For whatever reason BBTS seems to always get items in last. The "Estimated Arrival" dates are NEVER accurate. I have only seen very few occasions where items came out when they were actually coming out on other online retailers. Now, I know that it is just an estimate, but this brings me to another one of my issues with this site. Certain items seem to NEVER come in for whatever reason even though the company that disperses them shipped them all out on time. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt since COVID-19 has delayed many things. With that said, I placed a preorder for an item that was released in JANUARY. It is currently JULY and this item is still up for preorder even though the product itself was shipped out. I am very frustrated with this considering it was supposed to be a Birthday gift. The item just keeps getting pushed back more and more and more. Another thing. Shipping. For whatever reason it takes an unreasonable amount of time for the order itself to be processed. Once the item is shipped there is no problem. It takes way too long for any order to be actually processed and moved out the door though. I have not dealt with their customer service enough to have a solid opinion of how that stands. One last thing. THE GRADING SYSTEM IS SEVERELY FLAWED AND IS BORDERING SCAM TERRITORY. I was happy when I saw that you could choose specific grades of the items that you want to purchase. You pay extra to ensure that a product is in A GRADE mint condition and get a discount on items that are damaged right? WRONG! First of all for whatever reason there is NO DISCOUNT ON DAMAGED OR SUBSTANDARD ITEMS. Why would anyone willingly buy a damaged item for the exact same price as a standard one that's in "good" condition? Secondly, I have ordered standard items that have come in a condition that fits more into the substandard or damaged range. The "Standard" grade does say that items CAN BE subject to some minor imperfections, BUT after purchasing from them I have found that this is just an excuse for them to move damaged product just because they have their collectors grade. I have purchased a standard grade item and recieved it with a massive gouge in the side of the box. Now finally the Collector's Grade. This grade is basically to ensure that your package does not arrive damaged or is not damadged when shipped. You have to pay extra for this. So, you're basically paying extra for the bare minimum quality that you should be getting anyway. I have recieved far too many "Standards" that are damaged and "Collectors" that still have minor imperfections and are what you would normally see of you ordered from a website without a grading system. You're basically paying extra to ensure that your item is in acceptable condition. And like I said why is there even a substandard or damaged grade if there is no discount on those products? This is very disappointing becasue something like this could have been a great way to control the quality of the valuable items you buy that other retailers would not care to do. With that said I have not had many glaring issues with the things I have purchased and recieved other then a few things as I stated. I've come to expect these things while shopping with them over the past 6 years, but I must say I'm just extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. This website is probably one of the most advertised, well known, and most sponsored retailers of collectors. You will often see people repping their name in reviews, which makes hardly any sense considering some of the items they are reviewing haven't even come out on the website yet. One last thing. Recently, the company NECA announced that they will no longer be selling any Godzilla related product. Almost immediately I witnessed the prices of these items on BBTS increase a very considerable amount. These items are offered by other retailers cheaper and will be released far sooner. I find it disappointing that they are on top of price gouging these items, but they cannot seem to solve the mystery of items that have been floating in preorder land for months. Anyway that's my two sense. Shop at your own risk. I'm not saying that you shouldn't shop here, but just be mindful of these things if you do.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM PRE-ORDERS...
June 19, 2019

Mainly for TBLeague / Phicen figures. I must of purchased quite a few of these figures from other online hobby stores or even on eBay that is in stock and BBTS still has them on Pre-order. Seems like BBTS is the last to receive their TBLeague figures, and other type of items going by other reviews. I find that BBTS does not have these figures in stock, even after over a MONTH when many on-line and ebay sellers have them in stock and ready to ship out.

Recent case: TBLeague Queen of Vampires Narama Huntress of Men 1/6 Scale Figure is still in pre-order status on BBTS as of June 19,2019. Another on-line hobby store in California had this figure in STOCK and ready to ship May 10,2019. Plus a few US sellers on eBay had this figure in stock as well. I ordered one and it was in my hands on May 15,2019.

I did order a few already in stock figures from BBTS and chose their $4 flat rate shipping. Takes about 1.5 weeks to arrive from the order date. From my experience, usually takes 3 or 4 business days from the day you order before they even ship out. I know it's the cheap flat rate. In my cases, the SLOW as molasses FEDEX Smartpost shipping was the method used.

To sum it up, I would AVOID the PRE-ORDERS from this place. Did I already say AVOID?! Perhaps, SKIP or NOT ORDER preorders, unless you want to be the last person on earth to receive the item, and everyone and their dog has it a month or more before you. Smh
