You have to provide financial info and personal identification, being recorded to re-verify yourself for each order, over charged, and over 1 hour delivery time after placing the order. The company also stored your information without a proper policy in place.
We placed an order from the same restaurant and same card but got hassled out and the order was cancelled an hour later. After 3rd times happening, we will make this into our mission to take down this scam company who collect info from consumers.
First off we usually order from China Hut but we thought we would give a new place a chance. This was our first mistake.
DELIVERY & APP SERVICE:
I would give this 0 stars if I could and the customer service of this App (Beyond Menu). Yesterday we ordered dinner from this place at 8 pm. Ordering was a nightmare because nothing is organized when you select "Choose any 3 Dishes", everything is jumbled together. I selected honey walnut shrimp, shrimp fried rice, and orange chicken. Then we added in Chicken Pan Fried Crispy Noodles. The food was not delivered until 10 pm! We called at the 9:30 mark and the guy said the driver left a while ago and should be there soon. It took two hours and we live on the border of Oakland and Berkeley near the ashby bart stop so its a 12-15 min drive on google maps. The food should have been delivered at 9ish not 10! Not only that but they forgot to deliver the walnut shrimp. It's like they purposefully delivered it that late so we wouldn't be able to get a hold of anyone to talk about the missing item. It was absolutely ridiculous. I wrote an email to Beyond Menu and left a voice mail with the restaurant but no one has reached out to me. I expect to get my money back for the item I did not receive. I also took photos of what was delivered.
FOOD:
* Prawn Fried Rice - Where's the shrimp and so bland. I saw like two shrimp in the whole container and there was no taste to this dish at all. The rice was so white and there were so many peas and carrots in it. The veggies were over whelming.
* Orange Chicken - Glaze was too sweet.
* Honey Walnut Prawns - I'll never know because I did not get this item.
* Pan Fried Chicken Crispy Noodles - The only thing I enjoyed. The chicken and broth were nicely done. The noodles were not good on there own but once smothered in the chicken broth it was delicious.
UPDATE:
Finally got ahold of Beyond Menu at 10 am this morning and they said that they needed to confirm with the restaurant that the item was not delivered and that they would call the restaurant at 11 when they open. The whole day goes by and I still have not heard back from anyone so I call Beyond Menu again at 5:30 pm and the agent that answers says that only the previous agent who I talked to can help me, I respond with she said she would call me back and has not so I am not going to hang up until someone tells me what is happening. I am on hold for a while when I get a call from the agent I spoke to in the morning. She says that she cannot provide me a refund for the item that I did not get until the restaurant confirms it and the person responsible for my order was not there. She called me back 20 min later and said the restaurant approved a refund of $7.32 for a $9.95 dish and that they were not going to offer anything for being an hour late in delivering the food or the troubles I went through in trying to get this resolved. Worst two companies I have ever worked with. I will not be back to either.
Also, I called the restaurant when I waited the 20 min for the agent to call me back and Raymond (the guy responsible for my order) yelled at me for not reaching out to them first when in fact I had when I received the incomplete meal. He said they were closed... well had my order been delivered on time then when I called, the restaurant would be open. BAD SERVICE AND NOT GREAT FOOD.
Had heard good things about this place, sadly I had an awful experience before I even got to try the food. I went online to the restaurants website. Immediately I was prompted to "order online" by a company called "Beyond Menu". I looked through the app and saw that everything matched up, Location, Hours, Menu, etc. I think proceeded to place my order as prompted to through the restaurants website, I paid $32.84 immediately through the website. About 5 minutes later I got a call from the restaurant telling me that they do not do business with beyond menu and will cancel my order but will take 2-3 days to return to my account, if I still want my order (which they received) I would have to pay. So basically $32.84 of my money would be put in lingo because of a poor marketing deal on the restaurants behalf. Even worse was the fact that they transferred me to a woman, and then the "Manager" who seemed to think NOTHING WRONG WITH MY MONEY BEING TAKEN FROM THEIR WEBSITE! WANTING ME TO PAY AGAIN AND THEN WAIT 2-3 DAYS for the orignal payment via website of $32.84 o come back. After realizing that I was getting no where with the manager and any want at all to try their food, I ended the call.
I asked the manager what he would do... if he went online. Went to a restaurants website. Ordered food, knowing none the less, as the site did not INDICATE ANYTHING ABOUT NOT ORDERING ONLINE -- (In fact it encouraged me to order drink, and leave tip!)... then only to get a call from a restaurant. Telling you that you would get your money back in 2-3 days but would have to PAY AGAIN if you wanted your order?! That is stealing, that is shady business. I hung up and immediately put a stop payment on the order via my bank.
Moral of the story for THANH VI Brooklyn Park, REGARDLESS - YOUR RESTAURANT is responsible for this error. It is and will never be the customer's fault for your poor marketing choices. NOR IS IT THE CUSTOMER who unknowingly ordered in good faiths RESPONSIBILITY - TO CONTACT THE "ONLINE/APP" COMPANY YOU HAVE SOUR BUSINESS WITH TO GET THEIR MONEY BACK.
Sorry THANH VI- A good business would have apologized and been accountable for what had happened... IT WAS AN ISSUE BETWEEN YOUR BUSINESS AND THE ONLINE/APP vendor NOT THE CUSTOMER! An honest business would not have expected the customer to pay twice, nor would put the bare of liability AT ALL ON THE CUSTOMER.
I have never experienced anything like this before, I am posting this here so folks do not make the same mistake I did.
I'm BEYOND disappointed. I had been a loyal customer but never again. I placed my order online through their website and received an email confirming my order and saw the charge to my card online and was expecting delivery. After one hour I called the restaurant and was told they never received my order. I said I have an email confirming it was received and my card was already charged. I asked if I could send them the email and I was told no, I had to call the company (Beyond Menu) and they refused to help me or assist me. Then I called Beyond Menu and I had to leave a message for someone to call me back. After 20 minutes someone did and he CLEARLY was NOT the US because he couldn't understand English, had a heavy indian accent, and continued to tell me multiple times that the phone was breaking up. He had me confirm about 5 times that I want them to call China Kitchen and send them my order. After I hang up with him I get another call from Beyond Menu - this time a DIFFERENT foreigner ( I could hear the call center people in the background all speaking what sounded like ironically enough Chinese) called and wanted me to give him the restaurant phone number and asked me what could he do for me and I said, I don't know you're the one that called me. The conversation then was ended and I'm still not sure why the second gentleman called me. The first Beyond Menu person I talked to told me he would call me back after speaking to the restaurant and 15 minutes, I never received a call so I called the restaurant to see if they received my order and she confirmed they finally received it. Beyond Menu NEVER called me back.
I will NEVER order with a company that uses Beyond Menu again.
