We really enjoyed the opportunity to tell our story. Wake county is such a wonderful place to live and have a business. We especially enjoy the family first feel. We had fun during our phot shoot and its so exciting when you see everything come together. The team at Best Media made it so easy and did such a great job describing our journey that brought us to NC. Thank you Best Media.
Jami was super sweet throughout the process. She called and set up a phone interview with us for our story. After she wrote the story, she sent it to us for review and let us make any changes needed. The photographer Mike was really nice as well. The photo session was quick, which was really nice with our small children. We were super excited for the magazine to come out, but when one of my coworkers sent me a photo of the cover, I was so disappointed to see that our name was spelled wrong. Jami did apologize for the mistake and reached out to someone at BVM to see if we could get 1 copy with the correct spelling and we never heard anything back.
There is no way you can cancel your contract with BVM even if they made a mistake with your ad or their marketing is not working. I learned my lesson and from now on I will make sure that every contract says that the customer can cancel at any time. Here is what their contract says: "No Cancellation by Client. This Agreement may not be canceled by Client before the expiration of the Term, except as provided in Section 10
(if applicable), or in the event of BVM's breach of a material term of this agreement that goes uncured by BVM for more than 30 days after
BVM receives written notice from Client identifying the specific material breach." And section 10 says: "First Print Publications. If the "1st Print" box is checked and after 12 months from the date the Agreement is signed the Publication is not
In print, the Client may, at its option, void the Agreement. Such notice by Client must be provided to BVM in writing. Client acknowledges
That it may take up to 12 months for a First Print Publication to go into print and nonetheless agrees to be bound by this Agreement."
Therefore there is no way to get out of the contract even if you lose your business. BE AWARE!
Tip for consumers:
I think it is illegal to not let a consumer cancel the product or service if the client is not satisfied with the product/service.

WE MAKE THE MISTAKE OF ADVERTISING WITH THEM THERE WAS ZERO EXPOSURE TO THE MARQUET WE WANTED TO REACH THEY LIED TO US PROMISING RESULTS, WHEN WE REALIZED THE SCAM WE ASKED THEM TO STOP ADVERTISING BUT THEY REFUSED AND KEPT CHARGING US AN OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY. PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND SEEK OTHER WAYS TO ADVERTISE YOUR BUSSINESS!
Our advertising solutions have helped countless businesses grow in their communities. We're disappointed to hear about this individual's experience and will look to improve the advertising experience moving forward.
I was an owner of a small salon. The economy hasn't been great in a past couple of years. I was contacted by one of the magazine' publishers and was promised help with the business by marketing in their magazine. Less then a year later, I lost my business, working as an employee for another company, never gained a single customer from the magazine, BUT still paying my contract, because they are a scam that strives on other people money. They are continuing to withdraw the money from my bank to advertise a company that I don't own any longer. This is so stressful to loose a business that I put all my heart into for 10 years, and still someone getting advantage of a contract from it. To make it extra tacky, I was told by my publisher that I just need to find me a reach husband. I think this summarizes the standards and the integrity of this company. Don't do it. Advertising on Google for example is chipper and much more productive. I know I will have to continue to pay my fees for another 4 months, but at list I hope no one else does. I hope that people read reviews here.
Our branding solutions are not meant as a direct response tool, but as a way to build recognition in the community over an extended period of time. In this case, our Client Services team worked with this client to reach a fair agreement.
Their salesman lie straight to your face with what you're going to receive from BVM. No one reads their magazines and you will not receive any leads, phone calls or business from advertising with them. I could not be more disappointed with this company and their integrity and how they conduct their business. Just save yourself the trouble and stay away.
All of our Publishers are trained to act fairly and ethically when it comes to the signing of ad agreements. Our readers love our magazines because we highlight local, positive and family-friendly content in every edition. Branding requires a consistent, long-term effort in order to be successful and we have helped many businesses grow throughout the years.
I started with this company over a year ago with a small 1/8 page ad. I didn't realize the magazine wasn't being distributed to the entire town. Also, there is no target marketing. It just goes to everyone in a certain geographic area or zip code so if you are looking to advertise to a specific group of people DO NOT ADVERTISE in this magazine. They will not let you out of your contract either. They threaten you with law suits and collection agencies. They are a terrible company to do business with!
Our local Best Version magazine has been through three different owners in three years, and I can see why. They tell people it's a community publication and readership is very high, because the content is local. Baloney - this thing is full of advertorials, a generic recipe, and a nice looking cover story highlighting one family in the community (which is usually one of the advertisers). The only people who get excited about this thing, read it, and display it on their coffee tables are the advertisers themselves.
Look, I get that branding campaigns are hard to track, that it takes time to build relationships with high-end neighborhoods, etc. but this isn't the way to do it - it's not reaching these people if they just throw it away.
If you're not careful, you'll be roped into a 3-year term without realizing it, and I spoke to a few of the other advertisers who said they were auto-renewed for another three years.
BVM magazines have a tremendous impact in their local communities because of a highly engaged readership. We are always hearing from our residents about how much they enjoy reading their local magazine. We get that it may not be for everyone, but BVM magazines are among the most powerful ways to effectively reach local markets. Long-term branding strategies are discussed before agreements are signed and our clients often take advantage of rate protection that comes with renewal.
This company is a spam. Do not give these people your money. They send you nasty threats when you try tocancel. They will continue to run your ad against your wishes. We never received a single hit from our ads.
BVM magazines reach millions of engaged readers every month. We are not spam. We are committed to honoring the agreements we have with our clients, putting their ad in front of a great audience.
I was conned into placing an add with this company for a 1 year subscription. I have yet to get any proof that my add was run. I have received 0 referrals/calls for service from the add that has supposedly run for the 1 year duration at this point. If is nearly impossible to talk to the right person in the right department in attempts to get proof that add is being run. Any other type of local advertising would be more beneficial than this... or just don't advertise at all!
Our Publishers are trained to act fairly and ethically when it comes to the signing of ad agreements. In this case, our Client Services team worked directly with the client to reach a fair agreement for all involved.
Best Version Media are small business frauds. I have 2 months under my belt with zero response. We have tried to cancel and were told that it was a 1 year contract, however I was never shown pages 2 and 3 of the contract, nor were any of the terms of the contract even discussed, misplaced trust is a hard pill to swallow. One of the biggest mistakes a company can make is to not even try to find a compromise for a mutually beneficial outcome. Never in 40 years of business experience have I been sold a larger bill of goods or been treated so poorly when I showed concern for my advertising investment Run fast, this company does not care. DO NOT advertise, total waste of money in Saginaw, MI
When it comes to the signing of ad agreements, our clients immediately receive an electronic copy of the agreement via email. It's unfortunate this client has decided to misrepresent our company after just two months of advertising with us. Our branding strategy is effective because it takes a repetitive, long-term approach. We will continue placing this client's ads in front of a great, local audience for the duration of their contract.
I was the victim of a high pressure salesman and got locked into a 3 year contract. Tried to get out of it to no avail. The publication is in my community where I live. It may as well be junk mail. No calls... no nothing. Such a waste. I am looking at legal options to get out of it. STAY AWAY!
We hold our Publishers to the highest ethical standards when it comes to the signing of ad agreements. When an agreement is signed, we expect the client to hold up their end of the deal the same way we hold up ours. Our magazines are successful because we provide businesses with a branding opportunity that requires a consistent, long-term effort to be successful.
What can I say beyond the title. Don't bother advertising with these guys. It's overpriced and a waste of money. Unfortunately, you may think that you are advertising with a local publication but then find out its actually best version media.
Every Best Version Media magazine is a unique local magazine.
Really... no stars. A terrible experience from beginning to end. Screwed up, promises not met, just a horrible experience. I asked several times to be let out if the commitment for several reasons, first for promises not fulfilled, then we hit hardship and they threatened me with attorneys. Do not advertise with them!
The salesrep. Was untrained and mislead us with the lack of knowledge and lack of communication skills. Complete scam! Provided a 1 year contract/ad package in writing and then changed the written contract to reflect fees rates that were not discussed after the fact. After speaking to them on the phone about the matter it was confirmed that the organization is being run by a group of disgusting human beings.
We hold every one of our Publishers to the highest ethical standards when it comes to the signing of ad agreements. In the event of a Publisher acting unethically, our Client Support team deals with the situation swiftly and fairly for everyone involved. We will continue to provide this client with excellent customer service for the duration of our signed agreement.
I have had an ad with this company for 2 years now and have not received a single call from it (I ask every customer how they heard about me). I called to see if they offer early termination and was told I would be held to the terms of the contract. So if you just want to throw some money away, this is the place to do it!
Repetition and frequency are both critical components of any successful branding strategy. Our proven advertising model requires a consistent, long-term effort to connect local businesses with the best possible audiences.
I was hard sold and then asked to sign if I was interested and then it said I had a contract. I ran with it for over a year and it is useless advertising with absolutely no upside. I gave them a 60 day notice to discontinue they refuse to let it go. This is worse than Yellow Pages.
BVM honors our ad agreements by running ads through the duration of the agreement. Client received a discount for this term commitment. If this client provided notice as they stated, their agreement will be terminated after the contracted duration.
This company is a scam they make all kinds of promises, very small circulation, I had 1 client in 2 year. When I attempted to cancel held me hostage with threats of court, and ruined credit. I have contacted my attorney
BVM Magazines are extremely effective at targeting markets that are highly desirable to our advertisers. We are effective because we specialize in branding, which relies on long term campaigns to drive success.
Just stay away its that simple. Signed a contract went through2 new sales reps in 2 months, and than didn't have one for another 4. Send me a proof for an ad, and need it back in less than 24 hours with pictures. Sales people are scammers and offer one thing but don't deliver. They know they have you stuck by their contract. Don't make the same mistake a lot of us have, you are better off putting the money out for free than to pay and deal with the hassle of Best version Media.
We strive to provide every advertiser with great customer service and all the resources necessary to run a successful campaign. We hold all of our Publishers to the highest ethical standards regarding the signing of ad agreements. We also expect our clients to honor their end of the signed agreement as we continue to place their ads in front of a great audience.
I signed a year contract for advertising. At the completion, I was billed for 4 months after my contract ended. I was sent a copy of the magazine and the advertisement each month. After the contract, I never received the magazine and was still getting billed. One day, I noticed on my online banking and realized. The Company absolutely fought me all the way and would not re-reimburse me whatsoever. I don't know if they ever had business in print because the magazine stopped in my area and I never receive a magazine.
BVM offers rate protection to all of our clients by way of renewal of the original agreement, however all clients have the ability to opt-out of this offer.
Stay away - Far far away!
They make you sign a 36 month advertising contract
Nobody does that - That should have been my 1st clue I was throwing my money away
A reputable worthwhile company wouldn't need a 36 mo contract - You would re-up after 1 year if their product was worth anything
For half the price I can advertise with Town Money Saver, reach 10 times the audience and have been getting over 4x the sales
STAY AWAY - A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!
Our magazines are one of the most powerful tools for local businesses. Repetition and frequency are both critical components of any successful branding strategy. Our proven advertising model requires a consistent, long-term effort to connect local businesses with the best possible audiences.
The guy tried hard selling me. He didn't tell me I was signing a contract and said sign this if you are interested a little. Then it popped up a contract and he said you are advertising with us. The magazine has not ran and I have asked not to be in it or charged multiple times. They stated you signed a contract. I said do not run any ad I don't want it. Then someone I have never spoke with sends me an add they made up for me. Which 1. Doesn't represent what I do 2. Is attached withe an old company I used to work for 3. I ASKED multiple timessages to stop contacting me. It's okay I've changed my debit card and consulted and attorney. So if they try to take my money or run an ad I do not want... they are toast.
This client has been treated respectfully every step of the way. She signed an ad agreement for 12 months of advertising (at a discount too) and now refuses to honor the contract she signed. We are more than willing to work with her but she has refused cooperate with us in any way. If anything, we should file a complaint against her company for refusing to honor a contract they signed. But we will not do that because that is not how we operate.
When we were approached by the Southbury Neighbors Magazine - it sounded like a great idea - and as they explained their target audience - etc. I asked about the length of the agreement which included an expert column and advertising. I remember hearing we had a one year exclusive, and the first right to renew after the first year. We we optimistic. 15 months later I come to learn we have a 3 year agreement with no out! I the first 15 months I spent over $10K in the sponsorship and advertising - with NO LEADS - not a single lead! We have asked to be out of the agreement and they have refused. People who I have talked to in our town - laugh when we mention the magazine - they say "you mean the magazine that goes straight to the trash?" We were duped - and shame on us for not sending the agreement to a lawyer to review. I would never recommend doing business with BestVersionMedia - I feel deceived and they have no accountability towards results. Con People!
Our Publishers are trained to act fairly and ethically when it comes to the signing of ad agreements. All terms are communicated by the Publisher and also appear clearly in writing before any ad agreement is signed. It is unfortunate this client has chosen to leave an inaccurate review of our company despite our Client Services team working directly with him during a difficult time.
Stay away. This publication did noting for my business it was a total waste of time and money. The term of my contract was misrepresented and after getting out of it "early" which was really on time and owing a one month fee COVID hit and tanked my business by %75. Even knowing this Best version continued billing me and added on late fees knowing full well that I could not even pay my rent let alone a bill I really didnt owe THANKS BVM thats really considerate. My $180 is a drop in the bucket to a company that size and a big hit to my small business where im struggling to stay open BVM doesnt care
BVM magazines are a powerful branding tool for local businesses. Our Publishers are trained to act fairly in every situation and all terms are communicated clearly before any ad agreement is signed. We're committed to helping our clients through the difficult COVID-19 circumstances and we wish this reviewer the best moving forward.
Did not see a single coupon come my store. Impossible to get out of the agreement and have not been delivered a copy of the last 3 versions to see if I am even in the magazine.
Our magazines are one of the most powerful tools for local businesses and we strive to put every advertiser in front of a great audience. We can guarantee that relevant eyes are seeing your advertisement each month.
There is no way I would ever sign a contract obligating me for $1441 even if I lost my business but that is where I am at today with this sham company. I am being threatened with a lawsuit and collections as I type this.It is akin to extortion. Sure. Each publication caters to a different market with local content but is still BMV.The sales rep emphatically told me that I can cancel if I needed to for any reason. Especially if I lose my business! The ad did not produce but I was only in the magazine for three months before I had to close.
Run! Do not walk away from advertising with these frauds. But again, How would you know when you think you are doing business with a local?
Our Client Financial Services team handles all situations on a case-by-case basis. In the unfortunate and rare case of a client's business closing while under contract, we of course act reasonably once proper documentation is provided. Our team went above the call by providing this client with a fair solution and he is no longer under contract. His choice to misrepresent BVM in this post is unfortunate.
To start signing up with this company was the worst decision I've made as a small business owner. I own and operate a one man plumbing business in northwest Arkansas. I met with the sales rep for the area and was guaranteed lots of new customers, job leads, and a fantastic return on my investment if I advertised in their publication Bentonville Living. I even broke down the numbers for him letting him know how many leads I would need a month for this advertisement to work for me and was guaranteed not only would I get what I was asking for but much much more. I agreed to a 1 year deal but was talked into a 2 year deal at a discounted rate. First they charged me a full month before the publication was put out with my ad in it then I got a copy of my contract and saw it was for 3 years not 2. This is straight up fraud and thievery! Not sure how they did this but they did. After a couple months of 0 leads whatsoever I contacted them with my concerns and was filled with a bunch of branding BS, it takes time, people are seeing it, blah blah blah. They will not provide any proof that they are even distributing these publications especially to the number of people they promised. I am now at this point out over $4000 with no return on my investments. Don't be fooled into thinking they care about you, your business, your wellbeing, or your families wellbeing just lining there pockets while they hurt small businesses. Of course I do not expect any response from these people other than you signed a contract and so on. Trust me when I tell you they are accustomed to ripping off poor hardworking business owners with no regret. I literally cannot buy groceries sometimes due to having to pay these scam artists every month with no return. They could care less whether they literally put you out of business, cant feed your children, lose your home ect. As long as they get their money. And even at that point will threaten to sue you for your remaining balance on your contract. FYI the business I am in is in huge demand in this area. I'm not going to say how I know but I am not the only one that is being severely hurt in my area due to all the false guarantees that comes along with the sales pitch. You make a deal with these people you are selling your soul and absolutely will be throwing your money away. And for any of you reading this that are in my situation I have a question for you. Have they put copies of the publication in your mailbox without paid postage? If so this is a federal crime punishable up to a $10,000 fine and I recommend you do as I am and file federal charges against them. They are liars, thieves, con artists, and belong in prison with the rest of them. I was born and raised here, know a lot of people, and will be sharing my experience with everyone I know in the hope they don't get hurt as we are. I've worked hard for 17 years to reach the point of being a business owner and may lose it all due to this scam. Also please recognize as far as these reviews go if they are positive and mention branding be assured this is them leaving their own reviews as this is always their excuse for no leads, others are just happy to be on the cover. Don't be fooled. Sincerely, Sick To My Stomach Daily
BVM helps small businesses thrive! BVM Publishers are trained to act ethically and fairly in every situation. In this case, the reviewer signed an agreement to be an Expert Contributor, a premier advertising position, in one of our publications. The Expert Contributor role is a 36-month commitment, which was made clear before the contract was signed and then confirmed in the digital confirmation that was sent to the client right after signing. Our Publishers make no promises of an immediate return on investment, nor do they predict exactly how many new customers will walk through the door. We do guarantee, however, that relevant eyes from your community will see your ad each month.
