Needed to find two local tradespeople - one PC repair, one TV repair. I found each on Bark with very little fuss and both were excellent. Hard working, very polite, completing the jobs for a fair price. I may have been lucky but am very grateful.

This company introduced us to a so called roofing company, Roofline, who turned out to be a bunch of scammers who ripped us off financially & did abysmal work leaving our roof worse than when they started. Unable to contact them we have had to resort to getting another contractor to complete the work as damage to infrastructure & internal decoration has been the result. Use this company at your peril

I have been trying to get android working for two weeks, and every day I speak with a different customer service rep, I have to explain the issue every day to a different customer service rep.
Problem, my child's phone is locked out of all service, I am unable to reassign the device. Bark doesn't provide phone support and there is no way of resolving this issue.
I will try to get my money back, this product isnt ready for release. Worst ever.

Bark create fake leads in order to take small businesses money. Hardly anyone response of the number and details provided even exist.
They then double charge you and refuse a refund.

Barks is the biggest scam and thief out there people please keep your selves away and when we speak the truth they simply terminate your business with credits in it with no good reason. They use one same lead for multiple platforms like one bone for ******* dogs. Now go get it. Most customers are also scam in there as well. Please refrain from this bark.com site and its leads as they are the biggest scam of all times. They don't like it when we bring it to their attention that they are the biggest scam so they keep your credit and terminate your account knowing they are from UK and no legal action under consumer regulations can be taken. They are all really rude with no English language on the phone either.

Tip for consumers:
Barks.com is ripping and scamming millions of hard working people out there and when asked why they are scamming people the terminate and keep all your credits with no good reason.

Not the best site out there, in fact pretty poor, spent money on this site hoping to get further leads, leads did come through but me following up these leads was a complete waist time, some never answered the phone, never returned calls or returned emails regarding there need for my business, this was back in 2023,so gave up on this site as i felt leads could be false, So muggings here thought things might have changed for 2024 spent another £100 for discounted leads, And would you believe it, the same has happened again, have expressed my concerns to bark, guess what no replies, its not a site that works for the builder,so beware

I am getting the most ridiculous requests for our company's services. All through lockdown we are being asked for DJs, Magicians and acrobats to come to kids parties for 1 or 2 hours. Yes we are an entertainments company but never in all the years of working are we asked for such random services, especially in the Covid situation.
It definitely makes me think they have a computer sending regular fake requests to clients.
As soon as I see Bark in my inbox it's now immediately deleted

Hi Eoife,

We are sorry to see that the leads we have sent you weren't of interest, we did reach out to you to stop anything further being sent to you but we did not get a response.

We reach out to new businesses when we receive requests for certain sectors or in certain locations that we may not have many professionals to currently fulfil. We offer a first lead for free for our service, however if the business is not interested, they can always click the unsubscribe button at any time to stop emails being received.

Our marketing team finds email addresses for businesses from their websites, and this is information that is in the public domain.

Kind regards,

The Bark Team

I can not believe the total amount of complete incompetence, rudeness, and unprofessionalism shown by any singular company on the planet.
I experienced things with Bark.com in the last two weeks that you could not possibly make up.
My first take on it when I viewed the leads was they looked so vague and incomplete I had already moved on to another leads company, however, they made me a 50% offer on the credits, so I thought I'd take a shot with them. Big mistake.
First off, they promise at least 10 or more leads in their starter packs.
I ended up with 8 leads, and six of them turned out to be completely fake ads, that had the word "Verified" beside them.
As I found out later, a lot of people just give fake information only to look at the inside of Bark, and the word verified is meaningless.
Each time I realized an ad was fake, and reported it, the minimum wage inexperienced staff members would rather pick a fight insisting I prove it was fake, rather than do their own investigation, which was pretty easy to do.
As of today's date, only 3 of the 6 fake ads have been returned in credit.
Where are all the employees? Other than the one rude obnoxious email opener, I've tried calling over five different times and sent over 20 emails in two weeks with only three of the emails replied to.
Bark is a total train wreck. I can not see this company lasting more than another year.

I replied to a quotation request and the customer? Sent over a plan of works once you opened it, it asked you to sign in to you your email account to access the document! This i unfortunately did then the document doesn't open and they have now got my details.
BARK should make sure that all there leads are viable and not put companies at risk with these type of false adverts.
I would infact say they are breaking the law and they sould be held accountable for the dater breach.

Hi there,

We did try to help resolve the issues you had encountered but we did not hear back from you.

We're sorry to hear that you received this lead. All leads are screened by an automated system, but sometimes issues will occur which is why we have a credit return policy which covers issues such as this. We feel this is the fairest system we can have as we are not a commission based system that guarantees work, and are instead an open public platform that provides contact details for enquiries placed with us.

Please email us at team@bark.com if we can help any further.

COMPLETE SCAM! Signed up with bark to get renovation leads. Bark said if the leads don't result in a job they would refund the credits. No one answered any of the numbers in the 6 leads so we called Bark and they did refund them. (that's 12 leads) 1 of the next 6 numbers worked and the one that worked said they were inundated with 10 calls from contractors, that they were annoyed and didn't want to talk to anyone else. Continued to call the numbers on several times with no answer - some numbers didn't even ring. Called Bark again to get a credit for the numbers that didn't answer and Bark said they verified the numbers so no credits were going to be issued. Realized we had more than 60 credits on the account and saw that the system charged us twice for additional leads when we didn't want them and they wouldn't refund that money either. Do NOT waste your money. This is no different than someone making up fake leads and charging you for them

Tip for consumers:
Was told that the credits would cover upto 10 leads they only covered 7. They don't qualify the leads properly because they never actually speak to anyone before they put the lead on their website. They admitted that theyre working on a better qualification system but its not in place yet. In lieu of this they should refund customers but they don't. They let it cost us

I thought they were very professional and prompt initially. The contractors contacted me and met on site. And that is where it stopped. Other than empty promises to provide the quotes, nothing has happened and I am looking to get alternative contractors. These guys did not live up to their initial promise in the least and I am tired of being messed around.

We're very sorry to hear about a poor experience you have had with professionals you found on Bark.

Our role is simply to put you in touch with a professional in much the same way the Yellow Pages, Google or an advert in the paper would do. We provide public profiles on every professional and an open review system to allow all prospective customers to carry out their own due diligence before hiring any professionals.

We wish you all the best with pursuing your project.

I am a License-Insured NJ HIC Contractor with 35+ years of experience and local to Morristown, NJ... I had paid $160+ for the basic referral service. Bark.com is definitely a scam! The referrals I had received were without full names, without full addresses, with 90% of the referrals never responding to a phone message-text or an email... I had a friend use Bark.com for a bathroom remodel post within my area code, and my company did not come up as a choice for him, nor did I see his posting, which I should have for the money I had spent... I was able to speak to #2- out of the #10- referrals, who supposedly were committed to a garage conversion (which we have experience), and neither of these referrals were vetted by bark.com, which means that Bark.com does not even speak with anyone calling in for referral work... Unfortunately, neither referral was in a position to afford to do the project, and they called only to inquire information, which I advised free of charage! I would warn Handyman and Home Improvement Contractors not to waste any of their time or money with Bark.com!

Stated, simply a scam!

Bark was recommended to me by a friend who had used the system with some success. My experience was completely different.

The leads aren't actually potential quality customers looking for my services they are all people just thinking about it and I'm paying for it. I spent quite a bit of money with bark And never got a single contract. As a start up business I could've put that money to better use. Bark did call me and tried to sell me another package which guaranteed me leads but After spending £250 and receiving nothing I won't be using them again.

This is fraud.
The Bark site has many features that resemble fraud.
After using the site for several months, I noticed that the site provides a lot of information that is no longer relevant. After paying for the leads, I often received a response from customers that not only had they already chosen the worker, but the work had already been done. And the site continued to take payment for such leads several days later. About which I wrote to the site management with a request to return the payment for such unreliable leads. As a result, they banned my account with the wording:
"This email is to inform you that your Bark account has been terminated and you are banned from using Bark.com.
We have identified you have operated additional accounts on Bark.com which is strictly against our terms of service, therefore, we have terminated your accounts. "
I carefully read their rules THREE TIMES and did not find a single clause prohibiting the use of additional accounts. That is, they banned me citing a clause that does not exist at all, indicating that they banned me for asking for a refund for providing false information.
But that's not all. They banned my wife's ONLY account that she used separately from me with the same reasoning about additional accounts.
She wrote to them that she only had ONE account and received a reply with a completely DIFFERENT rationale:
"We reserve the right to remove accounts at our discretion to protect our users."
There was no answer to the question of what threat it poses to users.
That is, your account can be banned at any moment for absolutely arbitrary and unknown for you reasons. At the same time, they refused to return the payment that remained unused. That is, they appropriated payment for services NOT PROVIDED, which is already a DIRECT sign of fraud.
If it were possible, I would give this site minus 5 stars

If you are in Australia and about to subscribe to this service and you are unsure, read this first.

I never write reviews but I can't express how extremely annoyed I am with this service at Bark. The customer care is great but the actual Leads are either fake or useless.

If you are in Australia and are a service provider, don't waste your time.

Times are hard as it is, why throw money down a hole on a service that not only wastes your time and effort but also tarnishes your brand as you end up calling innocent people who have no idea why they are being approached?

I am surprised how they have so many short answer "happy reviews". These might also be a tactic to reel unsuspecting service providers such as yourself in.

I tried to look for reviews elsewhere on the internet and discovered the facebook ones are switched off- maybe because they can't "fake" those ones.

Such a red flag.

All I really wanted was a genuine service to put me through this tough season and little did I know I was throwing myself into this little charade. Now I am out $520 and nothing to show for it.

I might be wrong, but I know it takes a lot for me to put myself out like this, hope you tread with caution.

I used all the credit in good fortune. Got 12 "leads" but none of them were even close to useful.

This is $520 I am talking about and In these hard times, who has that much to waste?

Do yourself a favour and save yourself the misery.

Either these guys are not ready or they are jokers.

Your brand that you have worked hard to build and the money you have worked hard to earn, should not be flashed down this drain.

If you decide to go ahead and get success, please come and prove me wrong- happy to take this review down, as I think this is a lot of hot air.

Then If you give a genuine review- you are just brushed off like you mean nothing on this earth.

Is this the best use of your money? Read thier response below...

Leads that lead to nowhere but cost you £10-£20 a pop! Don't even have the chance to sell to a client. Accounts get closed pretty soon after with the reason from bark that they likely went with someone else lol leads are not genuine and not contactable - avoid at all costs. Also on site saw duplicate leads - twice in a week! This outfit should be shut down.

I wish I would have looked this company up before making any purchases.
They are trying to be like upwork, except upwork credits you back for credits on jobs that they deem scam or unfit.
I made a purchase, got NO leads and was corresponding and they recharged my card claiming I signed up for auto pay. I didn't. I never checked any box saying I wanted autopay and I never got a notification saying I was almost out of credits or out of credits.
Then I get a promo code, so I enter it in the promo area and it doesn't even take me to a checkout, in fact I didn't even agree to purchase credits. They charged my card which should have been taken off of file.
This company is violating consumer rights and they need to have a class action lawsuit brought on them for their lack of accountability and the fact they just think they can charge credit cards without authorization!

Tip for consumers:
Don't do it. They need to be sued.

Just an update: I did get a refund for what I was charged but if you log into the site it says I have an outstanding balance due. I don't. I don't owe these people anything. They are scammers. They try to provide a service for freelancers and contractors and they are just taking peoples money!

Bark may in deed be a legitimately formed company. That does not mean however that the quality of their product is not suspect.

After being jilted out of over $200 and being denied a refund I used my skip tracing skills as a licensed professional within a field which I can not disclose, but pay annual dues to be a member of and swear an oath not to abuse my privilege, and what I discovered was that 1 out of 15 of the leads I received belonged to a real person.

Whereas 90% of the other leads were to disconnected phone numbers of people who supposedly were looking for service, but mysteriously got their phone cut off less than 5 minutes after submitting a request for a quote. On several occasions people would pick up the phone and hang back up without saying anything. However, in the split second the phone line was open, I could hear chatter in the background as if I had reached a call center with about 20 people talking in the background.

I also traced one lead to a business that was... out of business. Why would someone shut down their website and phone service within minutes of requesting a quote for service?

Why would anyone in their right mind ask for a quote, and then disconnect their phone or avoid answering the phone all together?.

Why would anyone provide a number to a call center and repeatedly hang up or allow the phone to ring 50 times if they are in need of services?

None of this makes any sense. Unless you factor in Bots. Like the ones used on Twitter and Facebook to perpetrate personas of real people. If you don't know about it, there is in deed artificial intelligence systems which can literately engage in short back-and-forth conversations.

If not the above, then perhaps they are using a data mining system that searches the web for "service for hire" inquiries on other websites. The problem however is that the data collected could be several months, if not years old. Which is probably why this company has no problem giving people "credits" to try again, Perhaps they figure if you beat your head against the wall long enough, there is a 10% chance you will make contact with a real person amid the garbage.

Technically, they can claim the leads are to real people, but if the lead is so old that the phone numbers are disconnected, who cares? When a Vendor purchases a customer lead, the presumption is that the lead is fresh from a real person, in real time. Not a Bot recycling leads from some other company's website.

To better prove my suspicion they are using Bots, I also did a forensic analysis of the over 1000 emails I have received in the weeks following my cancellation and request for refund. I can't be too specific at the moment, because of the class action lawsuit I intend to bring if I am unsuccessful in getting my money back through my CC service (if you are interested in signing onto the initial complaint, feel free to respond below). However I will say that there is irrefutable evidence that this company is using Bots to manage their so-called customer profiles.

Tip for consumers:
Unless you are a gambler, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. 90% of the leads are Bot generated among only a few real persons. After you blow your cash, they will gladly give you so-called "credits" to try your luck again, but the odds are 10 to 1 against you'll get connecting with a human being. You would be better off building a free/cheap website and doing Google Ad-Words.

Bark.com is terrible for customer service and sellers. They have a lot of fake leads and do credit you back hardly for anything. If you are hired then they just cancel on the site Bark.com doesn't give a $#*!. Ran by Brits and who only care about diplomacy. Waste of money and a lot of it. Would not waste my time if your a business. They are only a search engine with fake leads.

I am a tradesman and I can tell you this website is definitely not a place to look for any services. No vetting at all. And to all other tradesmen considering getting into this scam please don't. They promise a risk-free trial where you get 120 credits for 120 pounds. And if you do not win any jobs they will give your CREDIT back and not your money. From 10 leads I bought I think there was only one real person. I manage to speak to him on the phone 2 times. However, he was after information and price and actual tradesmen to do the job as he was quoting a job. All other ones I never manage to speak, they never reply to my message and emails. I think they all may be fake leads.
My advice to all people is to search for local tradesmen in google maps. Read their reviews and give them a call.
To tradesmen, I would say do not bother. In my opinion, you are more likely to lose money and time instead of winning a job.

Hi there Kostadin,

We're sorry to hear that you have not had success using our platform.

All leads are screened by an automated system, and we have a credit return policy which covers any contact details which are not working. We feel this is the fairest system we can have as we are not a commission based system that guarantees work, and only provide contact details for enquiries placed with us. Please email us at team@bark.com to report any you have had issues with in the last 2 weeks.

We do not offer a "risk-free trial". We offer a Get Hired Guarantee on starter packs of credits, and it is stipulated on purchase that this is the offer of a credit return for the whole pack if no work has been converted.

We do believe that we can help you achieve better conversion with us, so please do get in touch.

Kind regards,

The Bark Team

Many fake leads that will never get you in touch with a customer or get you hired. Their policy will not refund you if the "customer" is not responding your calls or texts. So prep yourself to call and text endlessly and even pay them to do som

DO NOT USE Bark.
Bark is a scam for providers. Simple.
Bark, mis-sells bids, and sells sold bids.
My bet is that bids can be sold dozens of times over! Someone should investigate this!

Anyone seeking providers on this site is essentially bait for providers to pour money into Bark.
The cost to unwitting bidding providers FAR OUTWEIGHS any benefit.

The ombudsman should sort this mess out and compensate all the mis-sold bids.

Hi Peter,

We strongly refute any claims that we are a "scam". We are a successful lead generation platform that helps professionals achieve a return on investment across the 8 countries we operate in.

All our leads are capped at 5 responses to control competition for our professionals.

We would be happy to help you make the most of our platform - please email us at team@bark.com to do so,

Kind regards,

The Bark Team

Hi Maria,

We did reach out to you to try and help, however you did not respond to us.

We do not make any stipulations about being hired in a week. We hope that you will convert with your starter pack of credits however if you use all the credits and are not hired by anyone by 7 days after your last response, we are able to return the credits back one more time for free.

Please email us at team@bark.com and we would be happy to help you make the most of our platform.

Kind regards,

The Bark Team
