As others have stated, I almost was turned away from Backcountry by all the negative reviews. But I couldn't find what I wanted on sale elsewhere, and I didn't want to pay full price, so I decided to take a chance. Most of the negative reviews are about the return process. So I was very careful to read the item reviews and size charts. I got what I ordered within just a few days. I paid less than half of what it would have cost elsewhere. I am very happy with my purchase.
Thought I bought a new jacket, but when it arrived it was clearly used. I contacted customer service and they offered a $15 refund or $25 in store credit. I don't understand why they would accept a return from someone if the product was used. I don't think it is fair for BC to then sell the product as new. They could at least let the buyer know the product is in used condition. I will never purchase from this site again.

Was afraid at first to make on order because of the bad review, but eventually I placed an order and had a good experience.
Received 2 separate packages from the same order, both had a tracking number and arrived just as predicted.
I must add that I bought only cloths, nothing that can break or get damaged in shipping, and all the sizes were correct.
Didn't need customer service
Contrary to the average rating of 2.1, I have never had a problem with customer service or satisfactory returns. I guess I'm lucky enough to live within 30 minutes of a major retail store? I don't purchase as much now as I used to, but it's still one of my goto websites for outdoor equipment. Love the Goat!

I was skeptical to order from back country because of the reviews but they had the best price on the shoes I needed for work. The checkout process was easy and I received the correct item in the correct size within the expected time frame. Hope this helps someone because all of the negative reviews almost turned me away, I just had to come back and share that they're not all bad!

I ordered a pair of climbing shoes from backcountry.com. I was contacted shortly after my purchase by Trey Schanzenbach via phone and email. He was super friendly and assisted me in any questions I had. I was looking to replace some climbing gear as well and he assisted me in getting all of the items I was looking for. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and will definitely use backcountry.com for my future climbing needs!
Quality goods and reasonable prices, considering todays inflation. Shipping is fast and never had issues with returns.

I was hesitant to order from here due to the reviews but went ahead and did it. All items came in great condition. Everything was the right size and color as the description stated on website (read site reviews on fit of clothing). Shipping was 2 days. I am super content with my purchase can't wait to have my family wear their new gear! Will definitely order again!

I was a bit hesitant in ordering from all the bad reviews but Im glad I gave backcountry a shot. I brought a few items during their extra 20% sale. Shipping notifications was sent out within 2 days and I got the package the week following. Everything was neatly packaged and they threw in some stickers which my kid loved. Unfortunately I ended up having to return 2 of the items and I contacted the "Gearheads" to help me with it. I closed the chat by accident but the Will followed up with me via email to finish up with the return. I sent my package out via UPS and pretty much got my money refunded the following week. Very satisfied with them and I've placed a second order again since they had the extra 20 sale this past weekend^_^

Great shipping time and customer service. Always get full refunds, the bad reviews don't seem to add up to the service I've received. I guess if you return used items you won't get a full refund which makes sense.

I see all the negative reviews and that must have prompted them to turn things around... I made a purchase for a sweater and received it in 2 days. The sweater is well made and incredibly warm, my partner just preferred a different sweater as I had purchased a few before Christmas to have options. I called to place a return with customer service and was on the phone with someone in under a minute and a shipping label sent to me in the next minute. Highly recommend, if just to give some of their clothing a try if you're interested. It worked out incredibly well and I'll likely look to see what they have for clothing options in the future. Ryan is fantastic. I always read the reviews, but rarely post one unless I'm really frustrated. This is not the case and I felt compelled to write this review simply because the service was fantastic. With Ryan's vast knowledge of both the products and the outdoors... and his patience, I was able to determine what gear I needed in addition to trying to figure out which tent was best for me. It came down to the BA copper spur hv lv 3 vs the nemo dagger 3p. I ended up going with the BA because the doors are bigger, it vents better, has more places to hold stuff and more storage in general. I highly recommend backcountry.com
I recently bought a Northface hoodie from these guys, threw out the tags and even wore it, only to realize it didn't fit like the Northface store one I had previously bought. I called Northface directly and they told me that Backcountry.com was indeed a reputable store and carrier of their merchandise. So I took the chance of contacting Backcountry at 4:30am via chat on their website and they said they would exchange for the correct size even without the tags and free of charge to me. Surprised the hell out of me! I highly recommend this store and will do business again.

I am an ultra runner that was in desperate need of a new running vest (my UD SJ vest was almost 10 yrs old ewww). I am also a loyal REI member. REI had the product (ADV 12) but not the right size (L). So, after a long search on the interwebs I found it at Backcountry. Only problem was the crazy number of bad reviews for BC. I decided I better give them a call and see what was what. Got right through to a "gearhead" (Misha) who was polite, pleasant and most important, knowledgeable. My stuff arrived quickly and exactly as expected. I could not be happier! Thank you Misha and team! I will be back:-) -d
We ordered two Patagonia backpacks that were heavily discounted because the color had been discontinued. Backcountry.com shipped next business day. We got the free 2 day shipping. They were able to ship those UPS Ground to our Atlanta address by using their Virginia distribution center. They arrived via UPS is 2 days as promised.
The backpacks are is perfect shape, in the original unopened clear bag that Patagonia used. All tags are in place. "Newer" than picking one up from off the rack at our local outdoor store.
So happy, we ordered another discounted Patagonia pack from them in a larger size.
I prefer to shop on smaller sites like this, over giants like Amazon. Customer Service is comprehensible.

I order almost all of my gear from Backcountry. They're always there to answer questions about anything I'm thinking about purchasing, the return policy is awesome, and costumer service is so friendly and helpful. You can tell they genuinely love their business and customers.
Ordered boots for my husband and they arrived the next day! Great price... Much lower than any other site. I will order from them again.
While I prepare for our UPS driver to arrive, I would love to take a moment and thank backcountry.com. I am SO impressed with how quickly my order was processed and shipped. Wow, a great deal and FREE shipping. As a minimalist, I may not be the greatest customer but backcountry.com will get all of my future business nonetheless. Nice work, BC.

I read a number of reviews here before I placed an order with this company and was somewhat hesitant to order because of the negative ones I saw mixed in with the positive reviews. I ordered an expensive handbag from their online site on Jan 15,2017. It arrived well packaged and was just what I wanted.
