“I'm shocked.”

Marjorie K.
6/12/23

I'm shocked at all the negative reviews, when I've had mainly good experiences with them. Maybe that's because I haven't returned the few items that didn't work for me, but I've bought several tops in pretty colors (I wash them in cold & NO dryer heat to avoid shrinking). I have several jackets, including corduroy in different jewel colors, so classy with business outfits, or jeans. Also bought jewel colored pullover sweaters, & a really classy raincoat. I avoid Foxcroft due to size problems, including arms, & I don't buy dresses from them. Maybe the problem is I don't return so I dint know about their customer service is like, but I've mainly helped build a bright, practical wardrobe as a repeat customer.

“Standard shipping too long”

Donna B.
3/23/24

I order everything. I'm shocked that Appleseed's advertised 10 days for standard shipping. No one takes that long to ship in stock items. The in stock shirt I ordered took four days to process. It is now in Georgia and expected delivery is six days later in Southern Ohio. Unheard of.

1. My computer automatically enters my credit card info, except security code, which I have to enter, but the website said it was invalid. I hand entered two more times. Still invalid. Could not call Appleseed's at this time, Next morning, all was saved, including credit card, and this time accepted. I did not re-enter anything. But the promotion of free shipping was not added, although at checkout it said promo code applied. This transaction took me way too much time, and I will not use the website again.

I ordered two pairs of pants 25 days ago. I received one pair and the fit was very bad - big in the front, short in the back. I left an honest review about the poor fit. The review was never published - the only review is a glowing review. So dishonest! You can't initiate a return online, you have to fill out the return slip manually like 30 years ago. I called customer service about the second pair, waited on hold 40 minutes, and was told they will be sent out "soon." There was no indication when I bought them that they were on backorder. I won't be ordering from them again.

I have had the same experience a number of times. Appleseed's makes a product sound comfortable, well-made, and flattering. When it turn out to be none of the above, they refuse to pay the mailing charges to send it back. Next, the infer that they might not take it back.

Inferior company to deal with online. I assume they mainly exploit older people. Sad.

I bought product # ASA******* Popover top with drawstring cream/black. Ugly and ill-fitting. Cheap fabric.

I ordered 3 garments because they promised a discount on your FIRST order as a
New customer. Could not get any of the codes to work in order
To get the discount. Customer service not helpful.
I ordered anyway hoping discount would be automatic. It wasn't. Had free shipping. They tried to add
A small shipping charge anyway. I backed out and started over. Package arrived 2 days before another
Catalog arrived advertising the expensive jacket at a discount! Quilted jackets are usually soft. This one
Is thin and stiff. I will not order from them again because quality and discounts aren't reliable.

I ordered a number of mock turtle neck sweaters from you. Initially they arrived in good condition. Then I ordered a couple more. What a mess you've made. Why on earth would you hard iron soft sweaters? Any idiot would know the that this type if material should be steam pressed. Now I'm looking at a bunch of dark sweaters that are hard ironed & have an awful sheen & iron marks on them. I've purchased this type of sweater from other companies & never received anything like this. Thanks for taking money & providing a product that's handled in an inferior manner.

I have ordered winter silks products for decades. I got a full silk slip for Christmas(2018) And imagine my surprise it barely fit. HAve a previous one and it fits fine. I should have known. Blair bought Winter Silks. Products will become junk now. Now you can't even buy the slips. Class and quality out the door. HAve bought From Pueblo Traders and Appleseeds. Som good some poor. Norm thompson used to be good. What happened to our anti-tryst laws?

I tried to order an item already reduced and with a promo code that should have given me a further reduction. When they added on the postage, it was almost the same price as the original reduced price.
Postage, then was 25% of the cost of the item!
I like their products, but processing is extremely slow and P&H much too high.
I try to stay away from Appleseeds for these reasons

The place is mediocre, overcrowded in winter. The fine print of allows them to charge you cancellation fees, and you have to give them 30 days in advance, that they also charge.
Will not come again next winter, there are many other places with straight up payment policies and more space

I like some of the clothing in the past. I live in Alaska and ordering onlline is impossible and frustrating. When entering the state it will not register. Once I managed to enter the state my order would not go forward, the computer keep indicating that the state needed to be entered! Also free postage code doesn't work for Alaska and not even a break is given. Other companies like LL Bean and Landsend honor us as being part of USA. I am disappointed and don't understand.

I normally do not submit negative reviews. But I want to see if my experience is just my karma catching up or if it is a systemic problem with the website.
I placed an order on their website at the beginning of Jan. After the initial order confirmation, I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks (the order status showed as in progress). I finally called them and they said they placed the order 'on hold' to verify my mailing address. No calls, no emails, but they sent me a postcard which I received a few days later. A few more weeks later, I finally got the package, but it was missing 3 of 5 items I had ordered! The shipment summary however said everything was shipped. I called their customer service and the woman who answered was very abrupt and seemed not to know how to find information about my order. She got all the information on my order wrong and then suggested I wait for a few days and then call back. I was still asking for information when she hung up on me! I was so angry that I called back and this time I got a better representative who promised the missing items would be shipped to me and that they will refund and then charge again. To top it all, the quality of the items I got was not that great either. The only reason I gave a 2 is for that one guy who seemed to care.

I am 83 years old and have been ordering from Appleseeds for years simply because I can't find clothes that fit and that I like anywhere else. I can't go into stores and, the last time I tried, none of their clothes were classic and work for older women. ALL THE REVIEWS ABOVE ARE CORRECT. It is a terrible place to do business. Warning: Appleseeds credit card is entirely separate from Appleseeds store. We moved into an upscale retirement community a few months ago. I sent change of address to both the store and also marked it on each statement as I sent in the check. The store received change of address--the credit card (phone call in India) did not note the change. I received the bill late and was charged a late fee, though I paid it as soon as I received it, They continued not changing the address and sending the statement late. I tried every method possible to communicate with someone. No luck. The customer service people really are just as unethical as written in above reviews. They will hang up on you.
I fear they will not stay in business long and honestly don't know where I can get clothes. We ended up paying all the fees and interest though it was their error because we were afraid the fees would continue to be added. Calls from the collection agency were abusive and frequent. It was upsetting to me and my husband who is 86 years old. I am so glad most companies are not like this. One other minor point: when the items do not state what type of material it is made of, you can bet it is either linen or some other fabric that wrinkles. It is impossible to get to a supervsor at Appleseeds. I cannot understand why they don't care about their business. Perhaps there is no way for supervisors to know about the problems. One site above says they are owned by Blair.

On 2/10/11, I mailed/returned (in a USPS Priority Envelope) wool slacks back to Appleseeds. I had read it takes 2-3 billing cycles for my credit of $75.99 to appear. My call to them last week was futile as the CS person could not tell me if the company had received the return. I figure they are sitting on it and as another poster said, they can earn a little more on each item if they don't give the money back right away. But I would like to know that they have it so I don't have to worry. I was also aware they have joined forces with Tog Shop, but was unaware of the Blair connection. I'm not sure what my next move will be - probably a call. Maybe one a day would get some action. Don't think I will do this again.

I like some of their clothing, but I recently purchased a couple of skirts and carefully read the descriptions; length was important to me. The skirts were 5 inches longer than advertised (that's a lot!), so I returned them, and I explained this to them by email and by note in with the return. I do find their credits on returns to be very slow, but in this case, I asked them to refund the cost of mailing the return since the item was misrepresented. They completely ignored my email and note. I was going to call, but decided to just stop using the site. Not worth it! After reading the other reviews here, I feel I was pretty lucky!

I ordered a short wool coat from Appleseeds. The coat was very poor quality. The zipper did not work properly and one sleeve was shorter than the other. I would think twice before ordering from them again.

I rarely write a bad review about anyone; I am more likely to write about how great someone is; but I feel that I really need to warn others so what happened to me doesn't happen to others. I frequently shop online and like others - it's hard to get the website to work correctly and their "promotions". They will post a lot, but when I couldn't get them to work; I checked out anyway and tried to get the customer service to apply the promotion after the fact. I contacted them via e-mail so the correspondance would be date and time stamped; but they didn't get back to me until the promotion had expired and after a few e-mails. This is the first and only time that I will do business with them - WARNING to others; this site lacks serious ethics.

Very poor customer service - I tried to order something form the Appleseeds website, and the order never went through. (Something I am told happens. It could be sply a missing esp date on your credit card and the order will vanish). IN any event 1.5 hours on the phone 2 weeks later--spekaing with some porrly trained cs people left me with the assurance of a manager that the order would ship, and the order department would check with me before it shipped if the sale price was not that which I thought it would be. Nope. They sent an email but did not wait for my response before shipping it. This led to 4 emails (some of which no one answered) and clearly none of which any one ever read because none of them addressed my concerns. Finally today I called again, only to have a Supervisor tell me I was wrong. YOu now, I have o desire to waste such an incredible amount of time or energy on anything--but when the error is not mine... Then I get annoyed.

WHy on earth would it take two weeks, a plethera of phone calls and emails to have people be rude to me? This would NEVER have happened at other clothing retailers. Places such as Talbots would have fixed it first round. Clearly Applesseds has no commitment to how they treat their customers, or even if they respond to them.

I will NEVER EVER do business with them again...
