I list my house rental on Apartments.com. I find it works very easy and tenants can do their secure application right on the website for a nomination $29 fee. Many companies charge $100 or more for this. I think the negative reviews they get are people unhappy with their apartments which have no bearing on Apartments.com.
If your a landlord or company thinking about using apartments.com don't. They scammed me out of $100 and I have proof of it. They changed their app and when I submitted payment like normal it didn't go through because they put an extra button to submit payment on top of the first button I normally use. I have an email thread to back up all of this with apartments.com saying sorry we screwed you over contact youe landlord to fix it because we can't so anything on our end

Payment for rent online
Poorly managed apartment complex. Takes over a week for simple maintenance requests to be addressed. Pornographic graffiti at children's bus stop. Pool has been closed for months which tenants still have to pay for. Rotting garbage all over the parking lots from closed dumpster lids that maintenance staff do not reopen after dumpsters are emptied. Rent is high and is going up. Can't wait to leave!
Starting with the hand picked reviews, that's a terrible practice, users cannot post reviews that supposedly go against their policies, so all of the ratings in this app/website cannot be trusted.
Additionally this website and app suffer from horrible performance issues, and there are times when half the apartments do not load, OR perhaps is that the high fees they charge are scaring off good apartment landlords.
Stick with Google Maps for your next apartment.

Used the website to look up apartments in Austin
First timer. I submitted my apartment and it said pending approval. Fair enough. Waited a week and still nothing so I called. They said I have to submit the deed to the property with my name on it or utility bill of the apartment itself with my name. First of all I'm owner financing and won't get the deed for 5 years….secondly I'm not putting utilities in my name, it's the new tenants responsibility. Your verification process is garbage. So now I'm out of luck after waiting a week. Complete waist of my time and hours creating the listing and pictures etc…
Apparently there is a limit to using this website. I have been constantly looking for apartments because I am tired of living in a weekly hotel. All I have done is researched apartments and tried to reach out to people to try to get an application or rent the house. I got blocked for using a website too much when I only used it for less than an hour? I am confused and will not use this website as a resource ever again then. I have never heard of a website where you can use it too much or too little. It is just odd and weird to me.
This site is FULL of fake listings! Both by unscrupulous "listing managers" with their, "Sorry, that apartment is rented, but what are you looking for, I have others available,"and random scammers who will HAPPILY accept your full name, email address, AND phone number!
Forget about Apartments.com paying ANY attention to your reports of fraudulent listings, they are the PlentyOfFish of apartment searches!
Zillow is slowly headed toward the same cliff. Be careful!
Apartments.com will reject an honest review to protect the landlord, the property and their website and it's all a part of organized crime. If you have a terrible situation with a slum lord that over charged you for an apartment that is still listed online for less you should be able to expose that. Apartments.com keeps rejecting my review for Ormsby Lofts and there are multiple reviews stating the same thing I have except mine says the landlord charged me $50 more than the listed price and that they went up on my rent without notice in December around Christmas and that you can not opt out of trash removal even if you take your trash to the dumpster. The apartment review website will not allow me to tell the truth and there is another apartment complex called Heritage Green Apartments where in 2021, they said the rent was $965 but when we signed the lease, we were told it was $1000 a month. Fine but why for years does Apartments.com.and the slum Lord not listed the accurate price?
I have never been more frustrated with a service. First of all when my apartment complex switched over to apartments.com they charged three times for the same month, when I called them they told me "the money can only go one way" and they weren't able to offer me a refund. Now with morons like that running the company you are forced to link your checking account to them unless you want to pay an extra 2.75% for using a credit or debit card. Terrible bunch of crooks.

Apartments.com advertised a fake rental property. I applied for an apartment, i paid the 46 dollars application fee and never heard back from anyone, after speaking with a apartments.com representative i was told that i should call the cops and report the issue not taking any responsibility for the fact that they advertised a fake apartment.I AM WARNING EVERYONE, STAY AWAY FROM APARTMENTS.COM
The landlord has her two dogs tried to take my grandma's wheelchair and her shower chair. My grandma didn't have enough space in her room to put the wheelchair and the shower chair. She recently was hospitalized, so she often needed to go to doctor appointments. This landlord harassed most Asian tenants. She wanted all Asian tenants out of this apartment, so that she can rent it out for higher rent!
Systems has too many glitches and they are allowing landlords and property owners to advertise their properties on their website without checking to see if landlords or property owners have property up to building codes that require working hot and cold water proper plumbing fixtures and working heater systems with proper ventilation system that is up to code in California, I recently moved into a unit and a-pond my family and I moving in we had all utilities transferred over to the new unit and the gas company came out to light the wall heater and discovered that the heating system had not been installed properly and they also detected a gas leak so they were unable to turn on the pilot and during this time it was winter cold rainy and very windy weather we were without any proper heating system for 6 months and by law units with out proper heating system and no running hot and cold water are not to be advertised as available for human occupancy's and because of my concerns and my complaint to the landlord about the wall heater system not working properly I have now been harassed and retaliated against very unprofessional people.
I was asked to make my profile and pay $35 per applicant so I can apply for apartments online. I spend 70 as it was two applicants. I had 30 days to submit my applications out before another 35 would be required. I sent out multiple applications and did not hear back from anyone. I understand that the money was spend for credit and back ground check but I should be able to have it refunded if after months of using their site I have ZERO outcome!
Cozy was so much better. The interface is not intuitive coupled with server issues makes this site unreliable and untrustworthy.
Just got scammed from what I thought was a legitimate rental because it was on this website. Also don't believe the review system for the complexes because they turn down alot of the negative reviews. So even legit rentals & complexes don't trust the reviews. Make sure you look for reviews on Google & other sites before making a decision.
I left a review on their website that followed all guidelines. Their response of denial of my review was not useful or helpful to me the consumer for giving truthful and accurate information to fellow consumers about an apartment complex on their site. Please do not use this site to find an apartment if you want to deal with a company that may look a honesty as just a feeling and therefore should be seperated from business, because it is an emotion, claiming to do the right thing.
Tip for consumers:
Try other apartment finding websites, this one has inconsistancies in its decision making capabilities.

I tried to leave a valid review for an apartment that followed all the guidlines, the review was returned stating that it did not meet the guidlines but with no specific reason. Businesses can depend on accurate reviews, an honest review that followed guidlines and is returned without any reasonable explanation is the business choice and right, but it was not very helpful for me in my effort to accurately and honestly inform other potential customers of the truth.
We manage about 30 rentals. Had used Cozy for years with good results. Then along came apartments.com and blew it up. It is crazy how many steps you have to complete to do the smallest change in a lease. Beyond frustrating.
Well, I left a very critical review for Avana on Pine in Long Beach last week and ya know what - it's not showing at all.
How much is apartments.com making from slumlords to suppress negative reviews?
How dare a business advertise they will help you in an apartment search and help to get you into a place. I paid $30 for my grandson to fill out applications. Then another $30 for me to be a co-signer. Have not heard ONE word. NOT ONE. I emailed them. Never have heard back. Going to my bank to file for fraudulent charges. I would not even give Apartments.com one star they definitely don't deserve it. Very bad way of doing business. Matter of fact, how are they even still in business.

I normally list an apartment for rent on Westside rentals. They're a good source for renters to search in this particular area. But now I was forced to use apartments.com, unfortunately my listing only shows on their website and not WSR. So for a week I lost out on potential tenants. Apartments.com opened a trouble ticket to have this issue looked into but nothing was ever done. But Zillow/Trulia/Hotpad - I got so many hits! Just like I did with WSR in which this unit normally rents the first day shown.
Tip for consumers:
Do not list on this platform if you expect it to be on WSR.
As small (10 rentals) landlords we used Cozy.co for several years with no problems. After it was bought by Apartments.com it has been nothing but a headache. Our tenants have a hard time setting up their accounts and even harder time making payments online, tenants don't receive updated invoices that include their utilities and other fees, our bookkeeper can't log in, and we have been on the phone (on hold mostly) for hours trying to fix issues. We are looking for a new platform.
I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at Aviary Apartments, and I feel compelled to share my frustration with others. From the lack of autonomy for their employee, Aaron, to the abysmal customer service, this place fell short on every level. First and foremost, it became apparent that Aaron, the property manager we were dealing with, had absolutely no decision-making authority. It was baffling to witness how he was unable to exercise any independent judgment or make decisions regarding our situation. It was as if he was a mere PUPPET, simply regurgitating the decisions made higher up the chair. This lack of autonomy resulted in endless delays and a complete lack of progress. Speaking of progress, Aviary Apartments' customer service was nothing short of abysmal. When we were initially approved for a contract, we were overjoyed, thinking we had finally found our new home. However, our joy was short-lived when they abruptly canceled our contract. The lack of communication and disregard for their customers' time and effort was truly astonishing. The frustration of dealing with Aviary Apartments was compounded by their complete lack of empathy and willingness to address the situation. We were left feeling stranded, confused, and utterly disrespected as customers. It was evident that they had no regard for the impact their actions had on individuals or their lives. In summary, Aviary Apartments proved to be a nightmarish experience. Their lack of autonomy for their employees, particularly Aaron the Community Manager, severely hindered any progress. Additionally, the abysmal customer service and disregard for their customers' time and effort were nothing short of disgraceful. Save yourself the headache and avoid Aviary Apartments at all costs. There are plenty of other options out there that prioritize their customers and value their employees' decision-making abilities. (2 negative stars) Karma is digital.
I paid an application fee and submitted an application for an apartment that the landlord stated was NOT available and should not have been posted. Apartments.com refused to refund me the fee! Pure FRAUD

Those reaching out are just unprofessional and are no help. The way the economy is today why are these places coming up with 3 n 4 times the monthly rent. Just another way to practice discrimination. Who makes that but your thieving $#*!. This is a joke
The tools on apartments.com are great but the website itself is terrible it's always having issues and constantly have to re-enter stuff regardless of which browser are use. How could I possibly trust them with payments? Not to mention I'm having to spend hours on something that should take me minutes really if you're using them through the whole process it takes so long just from technical difficulties on the website. In theory it's great but if you can't back it up it's a nightmare.

I had planned to use all of them in an effort to streamline things but I can’t spend this much time with technical difficulties it’s ridiculous it’s quicker for me when I used separate services for everything involved in renting. Their site seems to I guess be too busy because it constantly Hass to be refresh and there’s a lot of error messages regardless of which browser you use etc..
They will make you compile all your info upload pics and descriptions then deny your listing. Don't list your rentals here. Very terrible company. Shady people.
Tip for consumers:
List your rental anywhere other than apartments.com. Very shady company. Big big waste of time.
