If you like stress and endless waiting times on the phone, the worst is not Telstra but Allianz Insurances. I had two claims, one car damage claim and a household claim created by the same person as the car claim and here the saga begins, I have spent hours on the phone without results, or very little results. The Allianz call-back system does not work either and you wait and wait as I did today. It just made it up to 2 hours to get my enquiries answered.
As the case was a willful damage and the Police caught the perpetrator on a surveillance system any kind of excess charge of $600 should have been canceled.
The claim cases are handled by two different departments at Allianz. The car insurance waved the $600 excess whereby the household insurance did not and the $600 have been withdrawn from the pay-out amount. The excuse was that re-payments of excess fees are refunded if the perpetrator pays the full amount in question. In my opinion this can take years of the person pays in $5 installments if he is on any kind of Centrelink or other pension that cannot be taken. In a willful damage the Court makes the decision for the damage payments.

If you have a household insurance, make sure you are aware the trickery insurance companies are using. Allianz spends heaps of money in advertising and proclaims how wonderful it is to be with Allianz and how quick the claims are paid by Allianz.
Farfetched, I would call this. Allianz is not better or worse than most of the insurance companies only interested in their chairholders and less in their customers. Sometimes it is better not to be insured and to invest the money you pay for insurance fees into the short-term money market, and you are better off. Think twice before you sign up on any insurance and read the fine print even if it is printed not in fine. Be aware and shop around!
