  • Acorn TV has probably the worst Customer Service of any company I've ever dealt with.
  • I only discovered this after I lost my credit card and the payment was rejected through Roko.

“5 Star Channel - When Subscribed Through Prime”

Shai B.
12/19/22

I previously wrote a 1-star review of Acorn TV and would like to comment. I mentioned before that I enjoyed watching the series/movies that Acorn has to offer, but the service and streaming were a big minus. I subscribed for a year but could no longer view anything after 3 months. Customer service didn't respond. I have since subscribed to the Acorn TV Channel through Amazon Prime Video and am pleased to say there are no service issues. I would not recommend subscribing to Acorn directly. Acorn has a lot of series/movies worth watching. I plan to switch to another channel, like PBS, at some point. Switching channels back and forth offers plenty of viewing enjoyment. Acorn is now one of my favorite channels, as long as the subscription is through Prime Video. Oh, and eventually Acorn did issue me a full refund.

“Doesn't deserve any stars.”

If you get on at all, the videos stream through in seconds. Totally impossible to watch. Constantly does beyond video you want to watch to the next in the series with no way to go to the one you want. Doesn't matter though since plays in a couple of seconds instead of the 90 minute episode length. Then it says can't play videos because there are too many people using account, when there is only one person using one device.

Generally, I like the shows I find on Acorn TV. My only problem with Acorn is when I am done watching a series, I can't get some of them to go away on my recently watched list even though I have selected them to be removed from the list.

I have been getting a laugh out of some of the reviews, what a sensitive lot some of you are, lol Violence, murders, they are police shows and stuff what were you expecting, Sesame Street. Anyway, I love watching all the shows I have missed out on in Foxtel and one good thing, no dam adds. I had to contact Acorn about 4 months ago about my payment and had no problems. Also I have had no trouble with the picture on my laptop or TV

I had signed on to Acorn TV for a month or two several times over the last few years. Never had a problem canceling when I wanted to switch to something else. They have some good shows that can keep you entertained for a while (Murdoch Mysteries, Midsummer Murders, Foyle's War, George Gently etc.)

Watching Acorn tv brings back many memories of some great tv shows. Yes you can also get these shows on free to air, but with heaps of adds included.

I love having a localized site to escape the trash of American (mostly reality) TV. Having it all in one place is great, no searching through piles of bad programming to get to the good stuff.

As a huge fan of British TV series and especially crime shows I am loving Acorn TV. I originally downloaded the Acorn TV app onto my TV but the picture quality was very poor so I switched to streaming from my tablet device via Chromecast to the TV and the picture quality was much improved. As much as I love the content I am disappointed I cannot download shows to watch offline and I have found the option to "continue watching" from where I left off a bit hit and miss. But the cost per month is reasonable and I have not run out of things to watch so far.

I love the programming on Acorn. Just love it. I dont know where they're based, but sometimes their customer service is rude. Must not be in the US I'm guessing? Like, "no further reply is necessary." Hold on there partner, I'm paying you. I'm not an employee. LOL. I have Acorn on Comcast and they kept telling me their sucky closed captioning was a comcast issue. They emailed me referencing "my comcast issue" and I answered that Comcast DOES NOT do closed captioning for Acorn. It's not a Comcast issue. Then they answered why do you think we're saying it's a Comcast issue. OMG! It is "who's on first," with Abbott and Castello... just not funny.

Then... they sent me an email to uninstall my app and reinstall it. It's a cable channel! Not on my PC or cell or tablet. It's on my fricken TV not an Acorn app. Do they have cable TV where they are? My Lord have mercy. I've never seen anything like it. Love the programs but customer service is a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

I have a Samsung Smart TV and the only problem I've had is going back a few days later and not being able to continue watching the same show, it just keeps reverting back to the beginning page? I wait a few days then can usually get it back, obviously something on their end. It is SO cheap and there are SO many TV shows to see that I just find something else to watch. I am British and I love having all these shows to watch in the US, and the ROKU stick is so easy, just stick it in the back of the TV, enter the info on the TV screen and off u go. I had a slight problem signing up on the screen as I am useless at this stuff but I called Roku right away and they got back to me within an hour on a Saturday night.and walked me through it.

My original review stated the app wasn't up to date, and shortly after I was fed up and wrote it, about 2 weeks later, everything changed. It now stops and I can continue on another T. V. It keeps track of what you've watched. Now if only Apple T. V. wasn't so difficult to use, we're getting rid of that and getting another Roku, which is awesome.

Love the programming... but...

I love the shows offered on Acorn TV. But the app is way behind the times. It doesn't let you resume a show, that's crazy for a streaming app. We have 3 people in our house, and are often watching different programming. If I stop in the middles of something, I literally have to old school it, and pause the program and write down where I left off. It won't even take you to the season you were watching, much less the episode.

I just signed up for a free month yesterday and I see that this service is basically worthless. I was able to finally watch one episode but not before a struggle. Very unfortunate.

Although I enjoy some of the shows they offer, what I don't enjoy is the fact that the show I am watching all of a sudden jumps to the end, or it just stops anywhere in between. This happens on a regular basis.
