Purchased a brand new $999.99 Pelican Catch PWR 100 kayak and was charged $99.99 to ship from Academy's; KatyTX location to my home in NY. The delivery driver said to me before he even opened the door, "this thing is in pretty bad shape". It was DESTROYED. And NOT 100% by the shippers. It had been wrapped in thin cellophane which had come off long before it ever got to the shipper according to the driver. The boat had a thick layer of grime proving it had been stored outdoors, unprotected for an extended period of time. Scratches and heavy gouges all over the hull, keel, water line, even the cockpit area. Dents in the hull, punctures... it was an absolute horror show. And many of the damage was "dulled over" meaning it had happened a while ago. Fresh damage is glossy at first but "cures" over time as more dirt, dust, pollen, sunlight, etc. Took 30 pics, refused the delivery, contacted customer service. Was told they could give me a 10% refund. ARE YOU KIDDING? This thousand dollar boat isnt worth four hundred now and you want me to keep it and take a hundred bucks? An insult. Escalated the claim and 2 days later a "customer service supervisor" reading from a script offered me 10% plus the shipping or 25% but no shipping refund. So they upped the offer by another $100. And then he had the audacity to tell me that the damage was "merely cosmetic". So deep gouges in an already thin hull is "merely cosmetic"? This is an ocean-approved vessel. Are you willing to float 1/4 mi off shore and hope that the damage is "merely cosmetic"? Academy Sports makes me sick. There is an easy 45% markup on these kayaks and they insult a customer by selling them a worthless mess and expect them to swallow it down for a couple hundred bucks. WRONG ANSWER Academy Sports. How much does a heavy. Mil plastic bag cost? How much is a cardboard box? You're selling and shipping a thousand dollar boat... PROTECT IT! Even the kayaks outside of Walmart are in plastic bags. What a joke. For a company so big and so wealthy, you would have expected them to treat their product and their customers better. Pathetic.

CHATRELL KIRT IS UNETHICAL IN BUSINESS, SHE IS NOT A HONEST OR A TRUSTWORTHY SUPERVISOR AND SHE GOT ME WRONGFULLY TERMINATED FROM ACADEMY SPORTS + OUTDOORS. I WAS WRONGFULLY TERMINATED BECAUSE OF CHATRELL KIRT. SHE STABBED ME IN THE BACK BY SETTING ME UP A MEETING WHILE I WAS ON BREAK. FORTUNATELY, I NOTICED MY SCHEDULE HAD CHANGED AND MENTIONED THAT SHE DID NOT SEND ME AN EMAIL ABOUT ADDING A MEETING WHICH IS PROTOCOL FOR HER TO DO. IF I HAD MISSED THAT MEETING I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF ADHERENCE, AND I COULD HAVE BEEN TERMINATED FOR THAT. SHE WAS SETTING ME UP. WHEN I CONFRONTED HER ABOUT THE MEETING BEING ADDED WHILE I WAS ON MY BREAK, SHE REMOVED IT FROM MY SCHEDULE INSTANTLY. BUT THAT PUT A TARGET ON MY BACK, AND I LET GO WITHOUT A REASON SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. I HAD TO FIGHT ACADEMY SPORTS + OUTDOORS FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS. IT TOOK 10 MONTHS TO WIN MY UNEMPLOYMENT. I WAS FACING HOMELESSNESS BECAUSE OF HER LIE. BUT GOD HELD ME IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND AND BY HIS GRACE HONESTY PREVAILED IN THE END. CHATRELL KIRT COSTED ACADEMY SPORTS + OUTDOORS OVER $9,000.00 WHEN I FINALLY WON, ACADEMY SPORTS + OUTDOORS MUST PAY IT. GOD IS IN CONTROL.

I ordered a couple of Carhartt beanies for Christmas presents and for my social media posts, weeks ago from another site. After waiting a while I found out they had canceled my order for some reason. Not sure if they were out of stock or what, so I ordered the same ones from Academy hoping they would be here on time. I received my delivery in just a couple of days. I was shocked I got it so fast. I didn't select any special postage for it. Super pleased with the process and the products!

At Academy Sports in Cartersville GA, Natalie helped us in the fitting room over the 4th of July weekend. She was very pleasant, friendly and considerate. She was very attentive to our needs and went over and above to help us find what we were looking for - the right fit, style and color. She obviously knows what she is doing, always quick to assist. She certainly made our shopping experience more pleasant and positive.
