417 bus lines, for the purpose of this review, is a commuter bus service to/from Ottawa and the nearby suburban residential areas. The best things about 417 (Bus Lines) is that you don't have to drive the commute, get stuck in traffic, and pay for parking. The drivers are friendly and generally experienced and timely. The worst things about 417 is that some of the buses are dirty, in a poor state mechanically, and fill-in drivers are not sufficiently briefed on the commuter routes. Some of the drivers are long retired (and probably should stay that way), with shaking hands, poor reaction time and a general inability to understand that commuters don't want to feel like they are riding on a school bus, being jarred to-and-fro with jerky steering or brakes pumping while you are trying to read or drink your coffee. ============================= FROM THE WEBSITE: Travel and work are two good reasons to climb aboard a 417 Bus Line Ltd vehicle. We also have specialized adapted vehicles for people with special needs. ============================= Fleet of modern coaches?!? No wi-fi, poor repair, doors that don't close, no heat in the winter (Canadian winter, I might add). For $100 less, you can take the Ottawa City Transit, with the same "amenities", and actually get to work on time. 417 Bus Lines, my suggestion to you is to take some of the substantial profit you are making from the monthly passes (ie., guaranteed income) and invest back into your regular passengers. If I see any changes, I will revisit this review in six months.
