16 days on second order and no prescription
April 14, 2023

On Feb 16 I placed an order for 2 bottles of metronidazole I received one bottle of the order. Which 2 bottles were required for the dosage of the litter of puppies. Petmeds did send a replacement bottle without hesitation. But I had to reduce e the dosage to get through until the next bottle arrived. At that time I went ahead and the refill order on March 1st. When the order did not arrive I was told that it mistakenly went in as a duplicate order and that would be corrected and overnighter as a courtesy. The order still did not arrive so I called them back. They said it still was a duplicate order and it was corrected and I would hear back from them on Monday (4 days later) still have received the order or call back. On March 13th I received an email that my order would be overnighted as a courtesy. Today March 15th the order still has not been shipped and no one can update me on the progress. MARCH 16TH. 16 DAYS LATER! STILL WAITING COMPLETELY UNEXPECTABLE. DO YOUR PETS A JUSTICE AND DO NOT ORDER THROUGH 1800PETMEDS.COM

Meds are Fine, Always Late
July 9, 2021

I have a dog with severe arthritis in his back. He is on 3 different prescriptions to keep him as comfortable as long as possible. Because my vet's office was so expensive (over $200.00+ per month) for these meds I tried 1800PetMeds. They had what I needed at a cheaper price than my vet. They also always seemed to get them ready for shipping in a timely fashion. The trouble came with their shipping provider, the US Post Office. I couldn't pick a different carrier so was stuck with the post office. No matter how quick my dogs meds were packaged and given to the carrier by 1800PetMeds, the meds were ALWAYS late. Always. I would get an email from the US Post Office informing me that there had been a delay in my shipment and that they would update me. There was never any explanation given and in tracking all it would ever say was "in transit" but never give me a location as to where. This email came usually 3-4 days after the meds had been picked up from 1800PedMeds. Generally the meds were anywhere between 2-3 weeks late. If I could have picked a different carrier to deliver my meds, I would likely still be using 1800PetMeds. However, when one of the items I have to order for my dog is a controlled substance, I can't order large quantities to ensure that this shipping delay won't result in a shortage of meds. The shipping delay always resulted in him being out of his meds for a minimum 2-3 days, there was one time he was without for over a week. I had to call the vet for a small supply just to get him through. But given that the "tracking" I was provided never gave me a location or actual delivery date (after the "this will be late" email) I always hesitated to buy more from the vet because I had no idea when the meds would show up. Today? Tomorrow? At the end of time? This was again more money and a lot of hassle- one that I shouldn't have had to deal with. That is the whole point of ordering meds online, right? Ultimately I started using Valley Vet for the meds. They have a larger selection of brands and prices for each medication and offer free shipping via UPS. Not one order has been late, the meds usually arrive early, and are still much cheaper than my vet's office. I am going to continue to use them as I have had nothing but positive experiences with their online pharmacy. I cannot say the same for 1800PetMeds. I would recommend that if 1800PetMeds wishes to remain competitive in this market they consider using a different package carrier.

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE
May 21, 2021

I placed my 1st order on April 13, with all the necessary information. On the 14th I checked back my order only to find that they had called the wrong vet office (this is the beginning of dealing with sheer stupidity!). I contacted them and advised them that their mistake.

In the late afternoon of April 16th I checked the status of my order and it was still « pending vet approval ». Again I contacted them only to be told that it was too late and they will contact the vet the following day to get the approval and since I was running out of the meds, they would expedite my order overnight free of charge.

Monday April 19 once again I checked to see if indeed my order was shipped and it was still « waiting for vet approval »!
I contacted them again only to be told that « they had contacted the vet's office and was put on hold »! I guess the hold time was unacceptable to them they hung up and DID'NT call back.
While chatting online with the rep at 800petmeds, I was told they were currently contacting the vet's office. I decided to call the vet's office at the same time. I was on the phone with the pharmacist@ the vet's office for apx. 5 minutes NO one from 800petmeds ever called them. Not to mention the pharmacist told me « I don't know why they would be calling us when in fact they know any request for approval needs to be made via email »! So sent that message to 800 petmeds and I was told they were going to send the email request.

Sigh, today April 21 I checked to see if my order was being processed once again it was still « waiting for vet approval ». Once again i contacted them and asked why this is still the case and I was told by Jacqueline that this medication « (Gabapentin) is handled differently than most meds because its a controlled substance and cannot be put through electronically. Therefore their pharmacists has to call them.

Hummmm I thought they called yesterday and the day before that, and on Friday and Saturday! When I challenged her response, she graciously answered « our office is calling them now, check back later & you will see that took place »
« Check back later » IS'NT THAT WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST WEEK OR SO? When I challenged her response she disconnected the conversation!

Tip for consumers:

Do NOT use this site if you want to get meds for your pet!
You have to babysit them to do their job!
