Corbett closed out the 2023 campaign on IR after suffering a knee injury in a Week 11 loss to the Cowboys. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday suggests the Nevada product's knee is well healed as Carolina begins preparation for the upcoming season.

4h agoBarno (knee) is not participating in voluntary workouts Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Barno finished out the 2023 campaign on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury Week 16 against the Packers. Although it's not clear what specifically the injury was or how much longer it may affect him, it appears to still be a big enough issue that the Virginia Tech product is not taking part in drills. Luckily, for the Barno and the Panthers, training camp is still about three months away.

4h agoRodgers was reinstated by the NFL on Tuesday after he was suspended for the 2023 season for violating the NFL's gambling policy, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Rodgers was originally suspended in June of 2023 after making bets on NFL games, which led to him being waived by the Colts. Despite the suspension, the UMass product inked a new deal with the Eagles two months later. With his suspension lifted, Rodgers will now be able to participate in all team activities for the first time since he signed with Philadelphia.

Patrick Surtain II DEN CBBroncos' Patrick Surtain: Has fifth-year option picked up
4h agoThe Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Surtain's rookie contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The ninth overall pick in the 2021 Draft, Surtain so far has met expectations in his three-year career, earning back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances the last two seasons and even first-team All-Pro honors in his second campaign. Overall, he has seven interceptions among 36 pass defenses in 50 regular-season contests while averaging 63.6 tackles per 17 games played, making him a respectable option in IDP formats. With Tuesday's transaction, Surtain now is locked in in Denver through the 2025 season.

Thompson fractured his fibula Week 2 against the Saints, which sidelined the veteran linebacker for the remainder of the 2023 campaign. His ability to take part in drills Tuesday would suggest the 30-year-old has moved past the injury and is fully healthy as the Panthers begin early preparation for the upcoming season.

Wonnum is still on the mend after surgery to repair his quadriceps, which he injured during Week 16 of last season. The South Carolina product inked a deal with the Panthers in March, so although it seems the franchise is not worried about his injury, it's not clear yet when he'll be ready to participate in the team's offseason programs.

Sam Bachman LAA RPAngels' Sam Bachman: Rehab slowed by back issue
9m agoBachman (shoulder) is dealing with mid-back spasms, causing his throwing progression to be put on hold, per MLB.com.
Bachman has been at the Angels' training facility in Arizona rehabbing from last October's shoulder cleanup surgery. It was initially expected that the righty hurler would be ready to pitch by the start of spring training, but he's instead been progressing slowly and was placed on the 60-day IL in late March. Bachman could still be ready to return by the beginning of June if the back spasms don't halt his throwing progression for an extended period.

Francisco Alvarez NYM CMets' Francisco Alvarez: Undergoes thumb operation
10m agoAlvarez (thumb) underwent surgery on his left thumb Tuesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
Alvarez was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a torn UCL in his left thumb and he will now officially begin the road to recovery. The Mets said Tuesday that the catcher is expected to miss eight weeks of action while recovering from the surgery, likely sidelining Alvarez until late June. In the meantime, Omar Narvaez and Tomas Nido will continue to split the work behind the plate for New York.

Kyle Nelson ARI RPDiamondbacks' Kyle Nelson: Placed on 15-day IL
19m agoNelson was placed on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation on Tuesday.
Nelson will now be sidelined for at least a couple weeks while tending to inflammation in his pitching elbow, which is never good news for a hurler. The 27-year-old had been going through a rough stretch on the mound, surrendering five earned runs over 1.1 innings in his last three appearances. It's unclear if the left-hander's stretch of poor performances had anything to do with potential arm issues or not, but he'll now at least have an opportunity to mentally reset while on the shelf. In a corresponding move, Arizona recalled right-hander Justin Martinez from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Chase Silseth LAA SPAngels' Chase Silseth: Not yet throwing
19m agoSilseth (elbow) has been doing strengthening and plyometric activities, but he hasn't yet resumed throwing, per MLB.com.
Silseth was placed on the 15-day IL on April 8 due to right elbow inflammation. A subsequent MRI cleared the hurler of any ligament damage, and an initial timeframe of three weeks was established for his return. However, it's not clear if Silseth will be able to meet that timeline given that he isn't yet throwing. Prior to getting hurt, Silseth had allowed six earned runs while posting a 12:4 K:BB over eight innings of work.

21m agoThe Diamondbacks recalled Martinez from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
Martinez appeared in two games with the D-backs before being sent down to Triple-A on Sunday, throwing three scoreless innings while striking out two batters and walking four. He'll give Arizona additional depth in its bullpen as Kyle Nelson (shoulder) lands on the 15-day IL.

DJ LeMahieu NYY 3BYankees' DJ LeMahieu: Exits rehab game early
29m agoLeMahieu (foot) was forced to exit his rehab start with Double-A Somerset in the second inning, Randy Miller of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
LeMahieu left the contest after striking out in the top of first frame and playing third base in the bottom of the inning. He was making his first start with Somerset and was expected to appear in three more contests before returning to the major-league roster. The 35-year-old is now set to undergo examinations on his foot in New York on Wednesday according to Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News. More information on his status will be provided following the testing, but it certainly appears as if LeMahieu suffered a setback in his recovery of a bone bruise and fracture in his right foot.

35m agoCoach Doc Rivers said Tuesday that Antetokounmpo (calf) was able to get on the floor to put up shots and is getting closer a return, Eric Nehm of The Athletic reports.
Antetokounmpo has already been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 2, marking his fifth straight absence due to a left calf strain. The Bucks were able to secure the victory in Game 1 over Indiana, which gives Antetokounmpo more time to return for Milwaukee's first-round series.

Anderson was able to practice Monday and will shake off his questionable tag ahead of Game 2 after his hip issue forced him to leave early in Game 1. There's no word of any restrictions heading into tipoff.

Maxey enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2023-24 after taking over the lead ball-handler role due to the departure of James Harden from Philadelphia. Maxey was able to improve his season averages of 20.3 points, 3.5 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 33.6 minutes from 2022-23 to 25.9 points, 6.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 37.5 minutes in 2023-24. While the 23-year-old's shooting splits decreased from 48.1/43.4/84.5 to 45.0/37.3/86.8, his jump as a playmaker and volume scorer helped him form one of the NBA's most dynamic duos alongside Joel Embiid.

3h agoAntetokounmpo (calf) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 2 against the Pacers.
As expected, Antetokounmpo has been downgraded from doubtful to out while he continues to recover from a left soleus strain. Without their star player, the Bucks were able to win Game 1 behind a stellar first-half performance from Damian Lillard, affording Antetokounmpo some extra rest, but if Milwaukee drops Game 2 at home, there may be added pressure for the MVP candidate to return Friday, when the series shifts to Indiana for Game 3.

Fleury will miss his seventh straight contest after colliding with a referee on April 6 against Pittsburgh. He registered one goal, four assists, 40 blocked shots and 31 hits in 24 outings during the 2023-24 regular season.

If the Hurricanes stay healthy, Comtois probably won't see any game action in the playoffs

2h agoRaanta was promoted from AHL Chicago on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
The Hurricanes already have three goalies on the roster, so Raanta's chances of playing in the postseason are incredibly low. Raanta struggled in 24 games with the Hurricanes this season, and he was a touch worse with a 2-2-4 record, a 3.54 GAA and an .873 save percentage in eight contests with the Wolves after he was sent down.
