Home Advisor scammers

I was a Contractor that signed up with them. Big mistake, They are very dishonest and lied to me so I quit. They told me I wouldn't get a refund. I told them I would call my credit card company and dispute it. I did, and then they threatened me with collection. After they read my scathing review they called apologizing and issued a refund. The problem I have now is, I get people calling me saying I just called them, when I didn't. I'm positive this a Home Advisor scam and to me it's fraud. I just got a automated call saying stay on the line for your Home Advisor lead. This is fraud I don't want any association with that company. I'm threatening them with a lawsuit. If you need a good contractor I'd look elsewhere as again they don't check out their contractor's. They're just a company trying to make money and don't seem to care how they do that. So sad, their T. V. ads make people think they're reputable. DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON T. V.! -10 should be their review!

Thanks for this review. I have often thought of using Home Advisors but generally I have found other ways to get the small jobs I need done.

Sometimes it's simpler to DIY:/
Are there any alternatives to Home Advisor where you are?

(not sure if you asked me, if not, hope you don't mind me answering)

I just ask colleagues, friends, and acquaintances for recommendations. It's not a perfect system, but it usually works reasonably for me.
