What are we rating?

I find more and more folks rating specific products and brick and mortar stores. I certainly know about frustration and the need to vent but think if we want to offer the public the best help, we would be wise to stay focused on web sites. There are already places for the public to review specific products such as star ratings and Consumer Reports and the BBB also do a good job. So lets give the public what they don't already have and when they use sitejabber they will know what to expect

I think it's probably OK to rate anything. But yeah, sitejabber was created for reviews of web sites, I think.

Thanks Christine for taking the time to respond and you are correct you can talk about anything. But, I'm pretty sure with a name like Sitejabber it was established to fill a gap in consumer information that you can't find somewhere else. Here's the deal: Let's imagine that you want to find out about an on-line company that sells things for cars. When you check, the reviews are mostly about car wax and tires and you want to know about how how well the company deals with problems and shipping time. Now where do you go for that information? What do you think?

Interesting I had not thought of it that way...

All I know is I wish I had known about this site before I ordered(like an idiot) some shoes from Newchic, a sketchy online crap product warehouse with pretty pictures. What a nightmare. All the customer service you get is reactionary after 3 weeks of patient waiting. There is no solution to problems other online companies solved decades ago. There are quality inconsistencies, sizes are totally without standards, things come at different times. If you want to return anything you do so at your expense or are forced to prove the item is defective with pictures. Ridiculous. One would think they aren’t interested in repeat business.
I hope a company like this is spanked hard in the review community and that crap like this isn’t tolerated anymore.

So sorry you had such a bad experience! Perhaps you could send a refund via your bank?

Hi Jane, Sitejabber is a fantastic site! I've avoided a couple nightmarish shopping experiences because I read about other people's bad experiences. I hope I have saved a couple people from going through what I did with some businesses. Your review will help someone else. And the founder of Sitejabber really listens to his reviewers.

Hi Fellow Advocates, let me run something by you all. One thing that I'd like to see changed on Sitejabber is regarding huge companies like Amazon, which unfortunately for my wallet, I am a big fan. Amazon and other companies so huge offer a variety of services, like Prime, Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Pantry, etc. However, as of now on Sitejabber, we can only rate Amazon.com as a whole. I rated Amazon.com highly because obviously I like it a lot and buy from them often. But I have an issue with Amazon Prime Videos-they started to drop movies from the Prime list that I hadn't finished watching THE DAY BEFORE! This just happened twice with different movies, and a third that I hadn't finished was "unavailable" the next day. In order to rate A Prime video and share my issue, it replaced the whole formerly high rated Amazon as a whole rating. I hope I'm making sense. I'd love Sitejabber to let us rate each service these big companies supply, not just the big company as a whole. Who agrees?

Jane, I think you've identified an area that needs attention, particularly a conglomerate such as Amazon. Until Sitejabber comes up with a better way maybe we can at least do it in the title of our review. For example the title might read "Amazon / Prime Pantry". This won't solve the problem if someone searches for Prime Pantry but it will help a bit when they get to Amazon Reviews. Anyone else out there with suggestions?

This is me again. Don't ask me what some of the gibberish in my letter means. I didn't put it in my letter.

Sitejabber is one of my best website out there, before I buy anything online, I have to check for consumer reviews, they are like personal recommendation to me, so i trust what cosumers say about products and services they have bought in the internet. Long live site jabber

Hi Christina and Roseann—
Yes I’m happy to have found this community.
As far as a refund from Newchic goes, I did file an action with PayPal. So happy I used them! As soon as I filed the action, my goods miraculously appeared! They were squashed into a box and had been mailed very soon after the complaint was filed. Like we can’t read dates! Good grief.
As you may have noticed, I have flagged many of the five star reviews about Newchic on this site because they reek of being planted. Who on earth talks about becoming a loyal customer for life while waiting for their first order— all in google translate English, give me a break. At the very least it’s highly suspect. That being said, how do you prevent fake reviews being placed to offset bad ones?
