“A near miss!”

I almost signed up for this company. No mention was made of True Telecom, I was advised they were part of Open Reach. It was only when I was passed to a young lady who seemed quite innocent that she mentioned True Telecom. The smooth salesman was pleasant and I assumed from the conversation that BT had passed on my details. How else would he have got them? Not easy to discern what was happening! At least I would have had 14 days cooling off to change back.

SCAMMERS AVOID. After a cold call promising calls cheaper than BT I thought I'd consider True Telecom. Cancelled before contract began but they pirated my line from a BT anyway. Lost Internet and then phone line as refused to pay. TT Ignored correspondence, they ramped up the bills and threatened me with Debt Collectors. Had to go to Ombudsman to stop them. These people are criminals tell them where to go!

I was recently persuaded by a high pressure salesman from True Telecom to transfer my account from my previous provider to True Telecom, with promises of much lower charges. How I regret making this change, as my bills are now FAR HIGHER than previously. What is even more infuriating is that it seems to almost impossible to get in touch with the True Telecom customer services. This morning, after waiting on HOLD for an hour, I gave up. Where are their "dedicated customer service team" (as boasted about on my bill)? Isn't it about time that the Government intervened into what is clearly a blatant mis-use of a public service.

Seems to be a common theme here.

Everyone says bills are three times more expensive.

Im not making more calls than I was before I joined so can only assume they are fiddling the bills!

Been with true telecom a while now, never complained but have just seen after a quick google they are under investigation by ofcom.

Buyer beware

They said they were taking over from BT in this area - I would have seen the Openreach vans - and I had - so I believed them - all change at BT! The first I knew it was called True telecom was when the paperwork arrived. Then I had a letter from BT 'so sorry you're leaving us'. And spent a morning on the phone cancelling and reinstating! What a NERVE!

After agreeing to move from BT in 2014 we had nothing but problems with True Telecom. Lines and billing was messed up and support was useless. True Telecom said they could get us out of our BT contract but we ended up with a bill over £******* to leave, and had to move back to BT. At no time during the move did True Telecom help.
Now 2 years after leaving True Telecom they suddenly invoice us for a mysterious £14.95 from 2014, and also want to charge us a late payment fee!
Avoid this company

True Telecom rang my husband and persuaded him after alot of pressure selling to change our business line and calls to them as we would save money... yeah right. Our bills are now more expensive than with BT and we haven't even got all the same facilities like call divert. That is extra. What persuaded my husband was the "unlimited anytime free minutes" for £9.99. Why then are we being charged for call charges of another £30 + on top. Also you get charged for using 1571. Don't touch with a barge pole we are now signed up for 36months of extra expense. I have tried ringing them to query bill no one answers.

Do not use true telecom. I verbally agreed a 16 month contract to find it is three years. They assured me I would make considerable savings, but my bill has increased by at least 50%. Bill queries line does not answer.
Look out also for Non Geographic charges. Here they charge £1 for every call back even when you don't use it plus an £8.50 ******* call of 1.30 mins when I wasn't even at home. Plus other bogus service charges. I want to get out of the contract, but there is a severance charge. Reported ot both rip off Britain plus the phone ombudsman

Our company received a call from True Telecom despite being on the telephone preference service. We agreed to change provider and move to them based on an early termination fee from our existing provider being covered by them and that our package would be cheaper for the "exact same service." These promises were not kept and only when we took the matter to their CEO did some form of resolution get proposed (inadequate at that). This company is unprofessional and very difficult to do business with including being hard to communicate with (you get ignored even sadly at a senior level), There is an open Ofcom investigation into their practice too.

After receiving a somewhat confusing and misleading call from True telecom I was sucked in and thought I was on to a winner here at a bargain price of £29 per month. I had a verbal agreement and was awaiting the correspondence so I could go through this amazing deal with my partner ( all sorts was going through my head with what I could do with the money we were saving each month) nothing had been signed or sealed only my word as I needed to see this in black and white to finalise this agreement to switch over from BT the problem is I am not the account holder of our BT account my partner is. Within 2days of having this phone call from true telecom I have received emails from Bt about us choosing another company for our line rental so not only have they gone ahead and changed us over without our full permission it has completely caused me nothing but grief as I will now be charged £29 per month from true telecom I will also receive a bill from bt each month for the rest of my broadband package and add ons. Finally the penny drops I certainly smell a rat and also slightly embarrassed I fell for this. My main concern is that this company has all bank details beforehand and it only took my word as a verbal agreement even though im not the bank account holder for them to go ahead with the whole process BEFORE any correspondence or agreement or permission was given. Thank god I done a bit more research as it is clear from other reviews I'm not the only victim x I rung BT and explained everything and they managed to stop this process and I ended up with a better deal with My BT package if it ain't broke don't fix it x True Telecom you slam you scam I also contacted the company to cancel well within the cooling period to be greeted by a lady who yet again wouldn't let me get a word in edge ways and still very persistent on sending out the correspondence after me telling her several times I'm not interested I also queried how and why have they got my partners bank details and she could not give me a valid reason at all and was quite quick to end the conversation. To the rep James fourie you are a great smooth talker it must be such hard work having to lie to vulnerable people all day. Well done for trying but unfortunately i could smell your lies like a fart in a car X do not trust this disgraceful company

I made the mistake of listening to sales speak rather than sticking with the reviews. Really big mistake. True telecom are not cheaper or better than BT, by a long way. My monthly bills are way higher than they were with BT. The final straw which led to this rant is that they want to charge me £125 plus VAT to rectify a fault which I know is external to my property but because they say the line is ok up to the house then I have to pay. Of course I only have their word for it that the line is showing a pass. Steer clear of them big time. I know it's external because the problem has occurred several times before.

After a sales call to persuade us to switch from BT to True Telecom, in which my husband made it perfectly clear that he wasn't interested in switching right there and then, but that if they could send him some information he would consider it, the next day we were contacted by BT saying they were sorry that we would be leaving them. After trying several times to get through to True Telecom (including one time when they said they would call us back, and didn't) my husband had a rather unpleasant conversation with his 'account manager' who became very aggressive and refused to believe that my husband had not agreed to switch over to True Telecom (and refused to even check the original phone conversation, which was recorded for training purposes). Claimed lots of customers tried to 'pull that one' and said that they had so many customers that there were bound to be some bad reviews. Thankfully my husband checked these online reviews while on the phone, as what they were offering initially was a good deal. Avoid like the plague.

Just been cold-called by True Telecom. Husband luckily deferred the judgment to me. They called and said they can give me a 'better deal than BT' I'm always sceptical of people saying that. I asked, how can you do that? I live 8km from an exchange, only BT can provide me with anything of a BB package. The only ones to give me better are satellite providers. To which he replied 'oh yeah well maybe that's the best for you but, we're cheaper.' I told him that I was happy to pay BT prices so why would I change and said I'd review their website before making a decision. (no details have been exchanged yet) On reviewing google I see they try and hijack your line. So I phoned BT and told them on no account to let my line go to them or anyone unless I phone them to confirm. They have placed the block so all good I hope.

I wish I had read your reviews before I answered the phone yesterday (number withheld - I don't usually answer these but I half expected a call from a friend who often does this). On came a rep from True Telecom, at first reasonable, did explain that they work on information from OpenReach, then said BT were, to paraphrase, ripping me off. He then gave me some very tempting offers to reduce my bill. Despite misgivings about the BT ripoff accusation (I am actually quite happy with BT, by and large), I expressed a willingness to hear more. On comes Ryan Jones, alias Fagin. This fast talking scoundrel gave me all the spiel, wouldn't let me get a word in edgeways, had all the details of my BT account, and said he could switch over now; all he needed to know was the name of the Bank with whom I had a Direct Debit. When I challenged him as to why he needed that information, when he had all the other details, he got shirty, and said "We are not asking for payment". I gave him the name of a bank I do not use for the DD. He then asked me for the sort code, and the 8-digit number on my cheques, i. E., my account number. When I refused he started ranting. I told him to put his offer where the sun never shines, and put the phone down on him. I hope whoever runs SiteJabber will make my comments, and those of others, available to the general public quickly.

If true telecom are so good why have you not complied with the ombudsmans order to answer the questions you had to answer for me you were given 2 weeks to reply then another 2 weeks then the ombudsman told me to phone up which I did, you told me twice the lady I was supposed to talk to was out of the office. You also told the ombudsman she was out of the office. I was told on the phone by some chap he was sure it was on the way that has gone on for six weeks now.so answer my questions, as I am not going away. Yet another customer you tried to con. First you steal my phone line, then threaten me with massive costs, next you cut my phone line for 8 days, and when you admit to stealing my phone line try to make out you are doing me a favour my not making me pay you, the first thing your operator said was we do not pay compensation, you will note I never asked for compensation through the ombudsman only answers to my questions.

Be assured this company is NOT a subsidiary of BT or open reach anymore than talk talk or sky. Check carefully what you are getting. I was told I would have broadband and a rebate on my landline from by. This was NOT true. True telecom... what a name!

I was called by this company and convinced with their hard selling techniques. I even outright asked them if this was a scam but was fully assured everything was legitimate. They had all my account details and said they were dealing on behalf of Openreach and gave me numbers to contact for any problems with the line. I said I wasn't convinced but they insisted on sending me paperwork. I was put through to someone else to be asked' security questions' and it all seemed very plausible until the young woman mentioned my 'verbal agreement' which I queried immediately but was told it wasn't a problem as there is a 10 day cooling off period to cancel. I then checked them out online and saw all the negative reviews! I rang BT immediately and explained the situation - they were great and said they had had this problem before. They gave me good advice and put a note on my account to not make any changes. I then had to go into my bank branch and instruct them not to set up any further DD's without contacting me first as I was convinced True Telecom would act quickly. All this happened on the same day! I thought I had covered every eventuality until the following morning I received paperwork from True Telecom which I read through and followed their cancellation instructions by ringing them immediately. When I said I wanted to cancel the response was nothing but rude - I was asked why so I was honest and said they had terrible reviews online but he wanted more but I refused to give any further reasons so he became very 'shirty' and I put the phone down. An hour later I received a text from BT saying 'sorry to hear you are leaving us'! I rang them immediately and explained the situation again. They were brilliant - it was only then that I was informed true Telecom were not only attempting to transfer my phone/call package but also my broadband! BT put everything to rights and placed an indicator on my account to not make any changes. The guy also said he would check it again in 7 days to ensure nothing further has happened reassuring me that nothing would change. He then went through my account charges and changed it so that now I am paying even less than before - thanks BT - I know everyone complains about Bt and I am probably guilty of this in the past but they were brilliant. So, if you have fallen for this True Telecom rubbish you may have a problem getting out of it unless you act quickly - get to your bank and make sure they can't change your DD. They told me that they would cancel the BT DD themselves which they cannot do but call your bank so they know what is happening and let BT know ASAP.

I've given 1 star as there is no option for no stars.
I was persuaded by Truetelecom to move my business line to them from BT as i would save money on my bills, the figures did look good. The first few months were fine call charges were cheaper and hidden charges amounted to about £7-10 per month but it still worked out cheaper. Then suddenly they jumped to £71.99 a month the majority of which was for the directory entry which TT have to pay to BT (free to BT customers). I have queried this with TT and until a reprint of the directory is out and I am taken from it I will have to pay.
So I am now paying £400/month with TT compared to £67/month with BT.
TT said if I read the small print I would see that this is a legit charge. If this is so what is such a huge chunk of my bill should have been explained to me during the call i had from the fast talking salesman. I have been told that they cant go through every detail. I have been mislead, my bills are vastly more expensive and I'm locked in for 3 years. Any advice on how to get out of this would be appreciated.
