When I want to read late-breaking movie news, I'll visit the trade sites like Variety or Hollywood Reporter. However, when I want something fun, I go to ScreenRant. A lot of people hate lists and fun articles, and that is fine, but I would prefer fun stuff to endless regurgitation of the same stories over and over. For people who hate fun, there is always Deadline. For people who love to read fun stuff about movies and TV, ScreenRant is well worth the follow.
Overall entertainment sites in general have ads running on their site, but Screenrant makes the experience impossible for the user. The pop-up video ads are more noticeable on mobile. The other experience to share is that they do tend to not source where they get an exclusive. Sometimes they do which seems to be other sites owned by the same media company, but otherwise no credit is given to the original source. That is a sneaky practice and contributes to mis-information.

Tip for consumers:
They are an entertainment news site so they do not sell any products. They current pay for writers is extremely low. Lower than other competitors regardless of experience. Their desire to push cheap content hurts user experience.

As has been stated by others before me, the articles are incredibly repetitive and just not written in a way that makes them at all entertaining to read which is kind of a fatal flaw for a fun news and think pieces site about pop culture.
This lack of quality combined with the fact they're rarely actually saying anything or stating concrete facts AND the fact there's so, so many articles and some writers have allegedly written thousands of them in a couple of years makes me suspect they only write a sentence or two and let some ai generate the rest. It could also be the plagiarism others have pointed to. Maybe it's both, ai is known to plagiarise after all. Tho I wouldn't put it past them to also do it on purpose.
And if they aren't using ai I'm guessing they're forcing these writers to write x amount of articles each day to get paid so they're forced to churn out soulless mush. Which, for the record, isn't better.

Screenrant.com has some good, but I find myself very frustrated with it overall. Without any warning, some articles have spoiled the fate of certain characters, which is very unprofessional and is certainly annoying.
On another more personal note, I was just looking at a list for the best Power Rangers! On multiple lists, my favorite Ranger and childhood hero(along with Jason), Rocky, is constantly belittled by whoever's making them.
For those who don't know, Rocky was the very first Hispanic Power Ranger & the second Red Ranger. He was charismatic, funny, humble, a great friend and a very talented martial artist. Obviously an excellent role model for children, he definitely deserves more respect than what they have given him.
I would've preferred to give my complaints on their website, but with no comments section, this'll have to do.
A bunch of losers who - failed in life, criticise others peoples movies. They aren't funny and they are pathetic.
ScreenRant knows nothing about anything that they are writing about and what they say makes zero sense all they do is kissing $#*! for corporate giants like Disney it's stupid and pointless
Used to be my goto for all things tv/movies. Now i have a hard time even finding content worth watching. Money money money, remeber where you came from folks.
This site is a Google SEO hack. You have tonnes and tonnes of articles about a movie claiming to explain every aspect of it repeatedly it. In reality all you have is a blog by hired freelancers who stuff keywords throughout the article. Not your site if your a real movie lover.
Honestly itself was ok but the people sucks clickbait clickbait and clickbait another thing is everything in their post are wrong the last reason is the people are lazy they stole content from small creator and other websites
What really makes me mad is that they're too cowardly to enable comments on their articles, likely because they know how negative they would be.
I have never in my life seen so many articles that are just the same few sentences repeated dozens of times but paraphrased slightly different each time. You get the first paragraph where they basically talk about the subject but they are very vague and they beat around the bush to kill time. Then the next paragraph says exactly the same thing but with slightly different phrasing. Then the next paragraph does precisely the same thing only in a much worse way. Then the fourth paragraph is usually almost identical to the first or second paragraph, on and on it goes. This website really needs to hire some legit writers if they care at all about the terrible quality of their current writers' entries and they want to be known for more than just a place to go if you want to be driven up a wall with a horribly written article.
Too obsessed with their social score and woke agendas to give an honest review. Spammy and too into politics and propaganda.
I used to work for Screen Rant, so I have first hand experience witnessing their decline. From the standpoint of the reader, the site actually has solid news coverage, attracting exclusive interviews with big name celebs like The Rock. What ruins Screen Rant is that their news coverage isn't popular enough to sustain them, so in the last few years they turned to doing listicles to boost the clicks they get. And to their credit, the plan was successful. But the problem is, the listicles have now become the focus of the site, and the news has taken a backseat.
As someone who wrote for them, I can tell you that the editors don't care what the readers think. They advised us writers on numerous occasions to just not read the comments so we wouldn't have to see negative feedback. If you criticize them, the editors dismiss you as a baseless hater.
Screen Rant has continued to struggle even with their listicles, so they've slowly ramped up the workload for the writers, and delved into sleazier topics to get attention. It's not uncommon to now see articles about sexualized superheroes, celebrity drug scandals, and other tabloid quality writing. It doesn't even pay well anymore since they have repeatedly slashed the pay for writers. At this point, I'm glad I'm gone from there because the whole vibe behind the scenes is that Screen Rant is a sinking ship.
There are so many better news sites out there, so support them instead. Don't give your attention to Screen Rant now that they have devolved into shameless clickbait. They are unprofessional and not worth your time.
OMG! Couldn't even get through ONE article! The constant pop up, intrusive, INVASIVE Ads literally ECLIPSED the page
The best thing about Screen Rant is the diversity of opinions that the site has on a regular basis, which means that you get a lot of different POVs on the site. They also cover several shows/comics/movies that don't get any attention from other websites. I feel like every site can be criticized for valid things, but I see many people hating on Screen Rant (and on similar sites) because they read this or that opinion that they really hate. However, if you actually look on the site, there's usually another article written from someone else who feels differently and provides other POVs. As a fan, I love seeing my favorite things being talked about, and I love having my assumptions challenged by diverse opinions. I really like the site and it's a shame that it gets trashed on by fans who want to live inside an echo chamber.
This is one of the most inconsistent and illogical movie sites ever. They have entire articles based on fan art and make it seem like it's legit movie news or "what if articles". Numerous headlines that have nothing to do with the subject at hand and articles that constantly contradict previous ones. Most egregious is most of the writers have no idea what they are talking about. The epitome of fake fans, all just for clicks
Tip for consumers:
You're better off reading more credible sites
I stopped wasting my time reading articles of this site as I realised I just kept feeling more and more annoyed at what I was reading and that wasn't good for my mental health. The so-called "journalists" of this site have no idea what they're talking about, having clearly not watched the TV show/film etc. they're writing about, while also being very unreasonably nitpicky and snowflakey about every little thing about whatever TV show or film they're writing about, or should I say attacking, while not even getting their facts right. The same goes for Gamerant, it's sister site, with articles that despite claiming have to be objective are nothing but the stupid, ridiculous opinions of the authors that are expressed in such a childish, juvenile, opinionated and condescending way, making out their opinions are fact, with a lot of what they write as well not even being backed up with any evidence.
There are many examples of this but one significant example I can think of is all the articles they'd write about Friends, nitpicking at every little single thing about it as being offensive, like saying the friends are bad friends to each other by making fun of each other affectionately, like that's what friends do, you mustn't have actual close friends to know that, while clearly not having even watched the show. It even made some misogynist comments, like how in Friends Rachel should've just stopped seeing her male friend Mark like Ross wanted if it bothered him so much, as well as a load of other very unreasonable opinions that made no sense whatsoever. A lot of the titles are even followed with "according to reddit users" like they can't just come up with their own ideas. Also the "Disney Villains who were right", actually claiming that they were right to kill people or whatever simply because they had a motive, as well as all sorts of other kinds of ridiculous rationalisations and condoning of immoral and wrong stuff.
I make sure to steer well away from this site as well as it's sister site Gamerant from now on.
Badly written junk, ripped off from other websites and Youtubers usually. Add to that a needless social agenda stuffed into articles as filler and generally bad takes in opinions which go against the status quo to be edgy, and it makes for a pretty terrible reading experience. The Ads are pretty awful as well
Screen Rant is the tabloid version of the newspaper world. They make up tantalizing stories to attract visitors. High visitor counts mean more views for advertisers who pay to be on their worthless site. Make it up as they go, with no real content that has been verified, by anyone of substance. Weak reporting by possible newspaper columnist rejects.
Tip for consumers:
Ignore 100% of everything.

Enough is enough, already. So many popups, that refuse to close when you hit the microscopic 'x' dead-center. They've introduced a new, more annoying form of ad that surrounds your screen in a black border, thicker on the top and bottom, which displays banner ads. You can't even read the article because it's cut off by the border.
It's an ad site. That's it, that's all. Clickbait for cash.
Every ScreenRant "article", if you can call them that, I have every read is either wrong or at least badly thought-out, esp. When it comes to Marvel/DC. "Marvel reveals real reason behind..." - Marvel didn't "reveal" anything, they published a story, sometimes decades ago, and ScreenRant drums up some story about it as if it breaking news. Just poor content, which is why I now avoid. Maybe if we ignore them, the site will die off. Here's hoping.
I would give 0 stars if I could. I frequently get adds for ScreenRant articles based on what movies, video games, ect. I enjoy... I almost always read the caption for any article before I read who published it, and 9/10 times I can guess if it's a ScreenRant article because they are spewing total $#*!e nonsense opinions. It is always clickbait just to rack up views because they pay people crap to write crap articles for them.

Don't bother reading their articles

This site is by far the WORST site ever! All I want is to read an article. But NO! They won't letcha do that with an Adblocker! And all the ads these days are scam ads!

Let's pass a bill to force these websites to let people access with Adblockers.
