After a misunderstanding customer service was able to rectify my situation and give me a full refund!
Getaroom's website is deceptive, misleading and deceitful. The price displayed for 2 nights was $116, which was slightly less than other sites ($68/night on Booking, Expedia, Priceline). Once I entered credit card information, the charge tripled to $343.95. I immediately called to void the charge. The service representative quoted their "no cancellation" policy. This is not a traveler friendly company who wants to keep you as a customer. Using "no cancellation for any reason" policy to justify their outrageous upcharges is certainly a sign they know this business is a scam.

I had an issue but I could not figure out and didn't understand what was going on. After leaving a review, the customer service representative called me and walk me through why things happen the way they did and also listen to to my concerns, and very promptly came up with a solution. Based off of the customer service she provided I most definitely recommend this company.

I need to amend my review.
After many requests they finally (and pretty quickly) reimburse the extra 36 euro.
Very fast and effective customer service.
Total to pay not at all clear!
I would say comparable to scam.
They attract with a price (in my case 62 euros) and then they add the taxes during the payment phase, in my case 36 euros (I didn't see the full total until I received confirmation from the credit card).
So I paid 98 instead of 62 as declared when booking.
I immediately wrote to customer service to cancel the reservation, but the response was non-refundable.
If the additional taxes were declared somewhere, it was written in tiny, hidden letters. Be wary!

We booked a 2 night stay and they quoted a good rate for the room and even though they tacked on an extra charge and called lt Tax, they quickly refunded the charge after I enquired about the charge. Thank You GetaRoom.

I wasn't aware I was calling this type of service till she offered to help me find another hotel. My operator, I apologize I don't remember her name, went out of her way to help me. I wanted a hotel with room service and accepts dogs, she searched for one for about 30 minutes but wasn't able to find one with room service. Not her fault, but COVIDS. So instead she found me the cheapest yet comfortable. I couldn't have asked for better service.
May appear the cheapest when you do a search for a specific hotel/date, but always check prices include the VAT - not an issue for businesses who can reclaim the taxes but in the UK, we are used to consumer prices being quoted as including 20% VAT. There may also be a "service charge" bumping the costs for the privilege of routing your money via the US. Having said that, Getaroom customer services were very responsive when we complained so that brings the rating back up

Booked hotel for New York in June and had contacted them in regards to changing my booking. They came back almost instantly to state I had to cancel and rebook. However my hotel in NYC is closed due to coronavirus and is not open on my booking dates. I have contacted them 3 times looking for a change to 2021 or a refund. They have come back to me within an hour with a call, an email and then confirmation of refund, and already processed my refund. Great service thank you.

Room was advertised as 93 dollars. Only after booking and paying did I see a 51 dollar "tax recovery and other fees" charge. Kristen did make this rate better by knocking off 40 dollars

Booked a room for a friend on my card, was told repeatedly by getaroom that no card was required to check-in, just a name and reference number, not the case, my friend could not check in as they did not have a credit card so they had to go somewhere else, tried to get a refund from getaroom and they refused. Actually, they would not even connect me to a manager-"none available", complete nonsense. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
After posting this review, the company contacted me and resolved my issue very professionally and quickly. Very good follow-up and customer service.

Easy and fast plus cheapest deal as usual. Rehlat didn't come through, even increasing my price, and upon calling, I got hotel booking direct for this property vs 3rd party, so I don't know what that was. I know payment never completed as same 1 did days prior, so I saw getaroom had their same initial prices plus my member discount, and it worked. Financial institution noticed nothing trying to come through, and now I got text for help booking, but believed to be direct property. No way. Whole point is to save via 3rd party vs direct. Rehlat is a? To me now, esp considering same card used to book here days ago no problem

After receiving my booking confirmation showing the high service fee I cancelled the booking right away. However their cancellation policy does not offer partial or full refund. It was my first time using this service, I was travelling to Mastichr in the Netherlands and needed some relatively cheap place to stay for a night.
That's how I found a Stayokay place in Maastricht and paid only $35 for a night. It was much cheaper than anything else I could find with some other popular booking services.
