I booked a room on this site last week, the landlord has said that room and all available rooms are unavailable. I have written several mails to the team for cancellation and refund and no one has reached out or processed anything. If you are not scam please refund me my money £621, I need to book somewhere else and not be stranded! Booking #2920185

So I reserved one of the offers in Erasmusu.com for a hostel in Madrid for the whole month of September, then when I got there, they got my credit card and charged me yet again, and I can't get in contact with anybody from their team to confirm a receipt so I can get a refund from the hostel.
Conclusion, it's not recommended at all to reserve anything on this website, zero feedback and I lost 350 euros.

They do not check the information the landlords post, even the verified ones. If the landlord doesn't respond to your booking request (something commun in my experience) you immediately lost your money and time for at least the next 15 days, the refound policy is messy and delayed on propose so they can keep "helping you to find a similar place" 9/10 they will do nothing and they take like 2 days to find something that is not even useful.

Avoid if possible!

It's a very insecure service.

Moving to Turin, I needed a place in emergency so I booked a room, but I failed to see it was a shared room because information is poorly displayed.

The landlord didn't answer so I couldn't move in.

They take your money right away without even getting in touch with the landlord. So now I've been in Airbnb for a week, unable to get the 309 I payed them back.

Avoid if possible.

I joined Erasmus as a premium member in May this year and advertised lessons online. When eventually I did receive interest in my ad I was asked to pay nearly 250€ to see who was interested, even though I am already a premium member. There is no way to contact the site owners to gain clarification. This is a scam and the site owners should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. Do not have anything to do with them.

I used Erasmusu for booking accommodation in Rome and unfortunately, after my payment the landlord canceled the booking. As I never used such services before, I was scared that it's a scam, however decided to stay patient and keep in touch with the support team. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anything to book instead of the previous accommodation, but the support team tried to help me. I sent them a lot of links of the accommodation I liked, but all of them were already booked. However, it was also my fault because I should have booked it beforehand, not 3 weeks before going to the city with such a high demand for rooms and flats. Finally, I asked for a refund and my support agent told me that it can take 5-15 days to get it and the service immediately sent me a bill. I received a refund in 2 or 3 days so I still had time to book accommodation.
It could be much better if only available accommodation was posted on the website and all the others were deleted immediately after being booked. Also, probably the company's policy provides one email from the support team per day, but this is a little inconvenient as it takes more time to solve a problem. This is why i give Erasmusu 4 stars.
Few support workers contacted me after my booking got canceled, but special thanks to Giulia who checked the links that I sent her quite fast, also suggested me some options, and helped me to get a refund in a couple of days :) I guess if I booked accommodation on Erasmusu beforehand, it would work.

Terrible service.

1. The website does not let you change your email address
2. They provide no refund, even though their software is problematic
3. I paid 35 euros for a listing, that nobody can email me about it and they refuse to refund me
4. Very slow response time

I am Barış Şahin and I am an Erasmus student for the 2022 Spring Term.
Few days ago I made a booking for a flat with flexible refunding policy. In the website it says cleaning service and bills are included in the price. However, after I made the reservation, when the landlord reached me via e-mail he said no cleaning service + bills will cost 55 Euro.
My arrival date is 3 days and 1 month later and I have 3 days till my flexible refund option ends. And I am still waiting for erasmusu.com 's response to get a refund.

Avoid, please...

I have to warn all of you despite all the good reviews that this is the worst ever rental company. I guess that unless you have any sort of issue with your reservation they are fine in the terms of their customer support etc. as being nice with the clients... but once you have to rely on them to sort of complicity they are a nightmare. The level of irresponsibility and their stupidness is of the highest quality.
There are so many other good rental middleman companies that you can use in these days...

Do not book there - they scam people! And delete reviews!

I booked a room and shortly after that I got a notification, that this room is actually not available. I asked for the money I already paid, but did not receive an answer. Instead of the refund they gave me another room and shortly after (!) the booking I received a message, that I need to pay monthly bills (90) extra (!), which where not mentioned on the website. I cancelled within 24 hours (like they write in their terms and conditions). They wont pay me my money back. I needed to contact lawyers, my bank and different commissions. Furthermore I reported the case to the police department. Now I am waiting for the result of this process. I informed my university in my home-country and hope, that people wont get scammed anymore.

I have reserved one house from erasmusu.com for 3 months and they answered that the house is not available anymore and I wanted to refund my money but there is not any response.
I'm a student and I need my money for renting another house,

If I could rate it minus points I would... you have to pay for an accommodation which you may not get, so this is one months rent plus a booking fee (mine was £280). I received the months rent back after the landlord did not respond however my booking fee of £280 was not refundable. It was a total waste of my money and time, thanks for nothing!

To anyone reviewing this who has had unresolved issues with this service, you can report your issues with the FTC or Internet Crime complaint center (IC3). Keep records of everything that happens, take screenshots and save all communication with the company. Read clearly their terms of service before-hand and save all info. The more complaints that are filed, the quicker this kind of business practice will either be shut down or forced to change their practices.

The owner did not respond in the 48 hours so like written on their website I asked for a refund. Then few days later they say "oh the owner say ok so you cannot have a refund" except that the delay was passed and that I asked for the refund right away so it should have been already done but the employee keeps putting it off and sends one email a day to the conversation to drag this matter for a long time... I'm still "fighting" to get my money back because I am apparently the only one who respects their rules this is ridiculous!
I really do not recommend this website, it is a disaster. Find another solution it will be safer for your money and your time...

Only after booking and paying the initial rent for an apartment I could have more real information about the room I had just booked and realised it did not meet what I could expect from the description provided in the website.

I tried to explain it to the erasmusu team and got ignored with no replies for several weeks from the agents. Finally I got some answer but it had to be me taking care of everything, managing the situation with the landlord. Luckily, the landlord was an integer person so I could have back part of my money. However, the 140 euros for the erasmusu fee was not refunded to me.

Honestly, if you can find rooms via another website, I advise you to do that. Inform yourself as best as possible and if you want to go with erasmusu, be sure about the conditions of the room you're booking.

I was looking for an apartment in Poland and the Erasmusu website seemed to have several available ones at a good price. However, when you book one of these apartments, after having paid out more than € 500 for the first month's rent and their large part, they let you know that – magically – it is no longer available. At that point, they start offer you more expensive apartments without listening to your needs, and you may make the mistake of accepting their offer to avoid losing your money. As if this was not enough, you may interact (as in my case) with a homeowner who does not allow you to view the rental agreement in advance, responds roughly, insults you and adds unforeseen fees when accepting the apartment. For these reasons, I canceled my booking before leaving for Poland, I never used the service and I never signed any contract. Despite having shared numerous evidence to support my version, the Erasmusu team did not take into account my affirmations only because they had collaborated for years with the homeowner, and in this way they decided not to reimburse me even 1 €.

Their service seems friendly at first, but as soon as they get their money, forget about being protected and supported. I am sure they will respond to this review in a kind and empathetic way, talking about their "mission" to help students. I, as a student, have only wasted time and money (536 €).

They scam people!
Even ex-employees admit that this is a scam business (reviews found on Glassdoor):

"they scam people... Since I stopped working for them I got so many messages of people that are super angry with me! The reservation got canceled and they never received any money... Also; they ask people to put positive reviews so never believe the 5/5 comments; these are comments from themself ;) (...) Stop teaching people to lie and cheat. Make a system that motivates workers and don't have to double cross people."

"The company only use free tools and tell you "doesn't matter about legal rules"."

"(...) they have to see a little bit of a cheater inside of you, then you will be inside" (concerning their interview process for new employees)

"The whole business model is kind of dubios (...)"

Besides my own bad experience with them and all the other negative reviews I've seen, this really confirms that this "business" is built solely around scamming students out of their money...

They have a very bad service, it is very hard to talk to them and I only got a refund after threatening with legal consequences and then only half of it.

In fact, as we have already indicated, we received two bookings from you:
- the first one was refused by the owner, for this reason, we prepared a full refund for you;
- the second one has been confirmed by the owner, for this reason, it is not possible to proceed with a full refund. Erasmusu is obliged to send the payment to the owner, who has kept the room occupied for your reservation, losing other possible customers. We have also offered you the option to switch accommodation or negotiate with the owner on a kind of refund.

My first guest moved in. After 1 week I was still not paid. Erasmusu did not reply to emails. On january 6 in Montreal (!) the guest had to leave a place he reserved for 4 months and even though he paid to Erasmusu in full. They did not even reply to him!

Hi fellow students, just wanted to share my experience with Erasmusu/Spotahome (Erasmusu belongs to Spotahome). Maybe it will help some of you to be more cautious with these websites.

Further below I will explain the full story for the ones who are interested.

In short: I accepted an offer on the above stated website and the landlord just changed the conditions and raised the price AFTER booking. I did not accept such behaviour and the website refuses to refund the service fee although no mistakes on my side.

Long version:
I accepted an offer (price stated that all bills are included except gas) for a room and booked it. I had to pay a service fee and the first monthly rent.
Afterwards I received the contact details of the landlord who I gladly contacted to talk about how to hand over the keys.

However the landlord just changed the conditions on WhatsApp and tried to charge me extra fees for electricity, internet and water.
I notified Erasmusu about this but received no help at all. I checked the website after 2 weeks (it took that long for Erasmusu to write back) and was shocked to see that the offer was changed AFTER my talk with the website and landlord.

After contacting Erasmusu again, they said that the offer states the "correct" information. Being afraid to have such a case I made evidence pictures and screenshots of the website before it was changed.
I even saved an offline version of the website and sent all these evidences to Erasmusu. They still refused to refund the fee and just wrote me back: tenants are responsilbe to check all information before booking.

I feel very disgusted by this kind of behaviour from the landlord and also from the website. No wrongdoing on my side at any point but Erasmusu/Spotathome still treats its tenants like this.

Take care of scammers in these facebook groups but also of these kind of websites. I would have suggested you to make screenshots as evidence but not even that is enough as I experienced.

I have booked a room over the website ErasmusU in Barcelona. Right after the booking it became evident that I did not only had to pay the 500 Euro rent plus electricity (sum was no where mentioned), but also a agency fee of 500 euro on top as well as the provider fees listed by ErasmusU itself. The landlord did not react on my booking, that's why I decided to cancel it just 2 hours later. The policies of the website are formulated quite complicated in my opinion. In my understanding it should be possible for the customer to gain a full refund due to a not yet answered request by the landlord. However, ErasmusU refuses strickly to refund me the full amount. I belive this is not the best way to treat customers after all. In my case the company showed a very low level of goodwill and kept the fees (eventough there was no service actually used). With this in mind I wish I have seen the other reviews here before I took the decision to use this platform.

I thought I was making a request to see if the apartment was available and if I could get in contact with the landlord. Instead it got booked straight away without me knowing it would, so I booked by mistake and wanted to cancel my booking. I got in contact with them but I got no answer. They also say that no money will be withdrawn from the account until the booking has been confirmed by the landlord. This is absolutely not true, immediately when I noticed this I wanted all my money back. If I can't have my money back after a mistake booking that has accidentally been accepted, this is definently one of the worst sites ever. If I get my money back I will take this post down. They seem so helpfull with everything but as soon as it comes to cancelation and refunds there is always radio silence according to other people. This is very unprofessional and I do not understand how they can still have costumers that are "satisfied". Would not recommend and be careful if you book. I've seen that some people have been satisfied, but I certainly haven't been. Please give me my money back.

I just recently wanted to book a room via the platform. In the end, I have no place, and the platform is not willing to send my money back. I even offered to keep the booking fee for their efforts. But just random answers without.

I think I will never see my money again.

Once the booking was not accepted by the accommodation provider, other available options have been offered. As my colleagues communicated, once this happen and especially for a city like Helsinki, finding accommodation at a budget can be possible, but not immediate.

This is an absolutely horrible company, trying to scam you by making up their own rules and hoping you fall for it.

After I made (and payed) my booking via Erasmusu, the landlord cancelled. Erasmusu refused to give my money back because they stated that i violated their terms and agreement by giving my email adress, which I gave AFTER I already payed them. If the landlord had confirmed, nothing would have been wrong but now he cancelled, they refused to give my money back.

It took me a lot of emails and contact with a lawyer to get at least the rent I payed back, but they are still trying to keep an administration fee. That is not only annoying, rude and in violated with their own terms, but also absolutely unlawful. I will continue to work to get my remaining money back, because these practices have to be stopped.

I recommend NOT to work with them and if they do try to scam you, do not give up too easily and inform the competent authorities about it.

I booked a room and I found out there are 4 of the exact same rooms in the exact same apartment on different locations. The pictures also don't match the location, the buildings out of the windows aren't the same. I emailed erasmusu, but for a week I didn't get a response. I also cannot reach my landlord, so I think I got scammed and I have lost more than 1000 euro.
Firstly I want to know if it is a scam.
