Question:

Why are the answers to the negative comments all exactly the same. is this a script? situations are different in every case.

Answer:

Hello Laura, thank you for your question. Simply because people respectful of our altruism ask questions via this section like yourself, or via our email customer support. We have contacted several times anyone leaving a review lesser than four stars on this site offering to resolve whatever issue that they may have. Unfortunately, some people have hard times in their lives and take it out with whatever business or person that they are dealing with. While we are always available to answer any question whatsoever we do it via this Q&A section or via email. Often times, resolving complaints involved sharing of private information, records of email exchanges, etc. We also do not want to encourage people to "ask questions" in the form of a complaint. Also we have very well made FAQs: www.elderhelpers.org/faq There are some cases when a person is having a hard time finding a volunteer just because they are not presenting themselves in a way that encourages our helpers to give them a hand. On the flip side, you will also find reviews of volunteers upset that they have not been called upon yet. So we do all we can to educate via Q&A, website, youtube video, and of course customer care support: help@elderhelpers.org. Have a good one, Laura!

Question:

Answer:

Hello Leslie! As you can tell, we have a lot of great reviews on sitejabber.com and look at a comparable service like care.com on sitejabber, you will see the difference. Also our facebook page tells you a lot about the spirit of our organization and our massive popular following: www.facebook.com/elderhelpers. Try doing a 10 or 20 miles zip code search leaving the city field blank and see the results: www.elderhelpers.org/findhelpers

Question:

Why can't i speak to a real person?

Answer:

Dear Laura: all of our volunteers offer companionship. Unfortunately our staff does not have the means to entertain phone chats with all callers. You are better off seeking friendship and company with our helpers who are wonderful true volunteers. We have designed a very efficient self-service, with a very clear pre-donation page and extremely complete FAQs. In the event that a question is not on our FAQs because it is not frequently asked or is a special case, we answer it via email. We do have phone support for existing community members, whenever there is a good reason that their request cannot be handled by email. Make sure to visit www.elderhelpers.org/start and click on both links at the top of this page to check availability and read the FAQs for future community members.

Question:

I read on your faq page that you should not sign up if you had memory problems or if you were, well, to paraphrase... poor. my question is my sister is wanting to pay the monthly fee. would that be a problem and how would we do that? but i am also starting to have a few memory problems. thats why i would occasionally need someone to go with me to dr appts. can i not sign up now?

Answer:

Hello Debbie, Really, we have a lot of “poor” people using our service. It is not about the income level, it is about seeing enough value in our organization and have sufficient disposable income comfort level to feel really good about making a tax deductible contribution to our community on a monthly basis. “Poor” people to use your word are very welcome to use our service. The contribution is a donation and not a “fee” as you put said. You can self-cancel out any time since June 2015 and there are monthly email reminders for each gift made. We are very cautious of letting people use our service when they have memory problems. We want to make sure that our reputation stays up in the four out of five stars and do not get reviews or billing inquiries from people who simply do not have a clear enough mind to use an online self-service with monthly automated billing. You need to decide on your own whether this service is right for you or not. In case you need to ask yourself if your mind is clear enough for you to join our community and have serious doubts about the answer, then you probably should try another organization.

Question:

I signed my mother up for one year of your service yesterday. when can i get my access number so that we can start looking at the local volunteers. thanks!

Answer:

Hello Terrence, your access code is delivered to you via email as soon as we have finished reviewing your application. Making contribution is not enough, we care about the quality of our users, security of our volunteers and bringing them a valuable experience. You will need to email your phone number and a few options of best times to reach you. Make sure to attach a picture of the elder who will be receiving help and a story about why this elder needs and deserves to be helped. Share the details of your story with us.
