Question:

When the volunteer drives the elder to a doctors appointment do they go inside with them to help them find the office and stay wit them during the vis

Answer:

Hello Lisa, great example of why it is better to work with a volunteer rather than a taxi or ride sharing service! This would be something you would need to work out with the helper and can certainly be arranged because the idea is to really care for seniors not just dropping them off. We strongly recommend testing the reliability of the elder helper ahead of time because doctor appointments are important.

Question:

I work for a hospital and i am looking for volunteer services for my patients. and i also have patients that want to do volunteer work also

Answer:

Hello Leelee S. Our service is designed for individuals only. This is the only way that we can offer SAFETY and CONVENIENCE. You can simply print a few flyers that you can download on our website and hand it to them. You can also watch our presentation video and explain if you want. Just make sure to not sign up for somebody else and even less for a group of people. That could get you in troubles and the users also. Thank you for your interest.

Question:

Is every volunteer screened & background checked by elderhelpers?

Answer:

Our service is designed to let volunteers create a profile and then wait for elders or families to contact them, When a volunteer subscribes to our program we send them a training kit to help them be prepare and ready to volunteer. To secure the safety of our seniors, we encourage all volunteers to get a background check. Background checks are done by IntelliCorp. Our volunteers pay for their own background checks, unfortunately, not all the volunteers do it. Right now, we are working in a safer and more personal way to recruit volunteers, ensuring the safety of our members is our most important task. You can reach us at help@elderhelpers.org for further information.
