5 DIY Cosmetic Surgery Secrets That Will Save You Thousands of Dollars

By Mariah Heller4 comments

You use expensive skin creams, you eat nutritious foods, you drink lots of water, and your body thanks you for it; yet, somehow, your aging face doesn’t seem to get the memo. Sometimes our skin needs a little extra fuel to get its gears moving, but, let’s face it, cosmetic procedures can be expensive (not to mention painful). Luckily, our reviewers and experts at Sitejabber have found some of the best secrets on the market for beauty alternatives, and for only a fraction of the price! Take a look below to see what all of the fuss is about.

1) Buy skin growth factors online, not at the plastic surgeon’s office

beauty2

Many plastic surgeons recommend skin care products that have human growth factors in them to help restore aging skin. The only problem is that these products are typically only available from a doctor’s office and are very expensive. SkinStore is like an outlet mall for the highest-quality skin care products. This is where you can find your brand names like Obagi, Skin Medica, NeoCutis, that are traditionally only available from high end physician offices. One Sitejabber user writes

“My doctor was charging me over $300 for Skin Medica TNS. I found TNS at skinstore for almost 40% less for the exact same thing.”

There’s a reason our reviewers love this place!

2) Get rid of wrinkles by lasering your own face at home

beauty3 We all want a quick and easy way to say “farewell” to our wrinkles and blemishes, but trips to a plastic surgeon or dermatologist can cost upwards of $3000 for those magical laser procedures. The Tria laser works for hair removal, anti-aging, AND acne – and did we mention you can do it all at home? This is one of the first D.I.Y skin lasers that REALLY works. Don’t believe us? Check out this review:

I purchased the TRIA Laser for hair removal and have already seen results after only 2 treatments! They have a 90 day money back guarantee as well as free shipping so I felt that it was a pretty safe investment to make. Plus it is much less expensive than getting laser treatments in an office!”

3) Use LED light to restore collagen on your face

beauty4 Ever wondered why we get wrinkles as we age? The more years we spend on the planet, the more the collagen in our faces decreases, resulting in those pesky lines and wrinkles. LightStim sells a line of LED-light products that have been proven to help reduce wrinkles.. So what’s so magical about LED light? It penetrates the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin), stimulating your skin’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin. More collagen and elastin equals fewer wrinkles! These treatments are all the rage with Sitejabber reviewers – try them for yourself and let us know what you think! BONUS: the LightStim site also sells very effective products for acne and skin tenderness!

4) Use lasers at home to regrow your hair

beauty5 Aging is a natural and enlightening process, but really, wouldn’t it be great if your age wasn’t directly reflected by your hairline? At last, the solution to thinning hair is here! The LaserCap is a portable device that is used to treat female and male hair loss, thinning, and receding hair lines.  Not only is the LaserCap effective, but it is incredibly convenient as well: just put it directly inside the lining of your favorite hat! Portable, discreet, and even rechargeable – it doesn’t get much better than that.

5) Perform Microdermabrasion on your own face

beauty6 We have all heard about the age-defying benefits of microdermabrasion. The acclaimed plasticsurgery.org states how microdermabrasion can reduce fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. The downside? Multiple treatments at the doctor’s office at $200 per treatment! Luckily for us budget-conscious individuals, users have found that you can buy a microdermabrasion device for home use at DermStore, a website created by a dermatologist. DermStore offers a number of home microdermabrasion devices for less than the cost of a single treatment at the doctor’s office. Our Sitejabber users (like the one below) are loving the value!

“Once I decided to purchase the transaction was quick and easy, there was no shipping fee, and the product arrived even sooner than I expected. I will be using this sight for all future skincare products down the road – without a doubt”

Does anyone on SiteJabber know of a topical product that will diminish marionette lines? If so, PLEASE let me know ASAP, the name of product & where I can purchase it, PLEASE!!!! Thx so very much, Bella

    • Jessica says:

Bella, I doubt there is anything topical to diminish marionette lines. Perhaps one of those temporary “instant face lift” products will. Otherwise no.
I do not believe that creams, lotions and potions do a lot. Yes they can help in subtle ways to hydrate and plump a bit, but for things like marionette lines, double chins, deeper wrinkles, sagging, jowls, etc., no cream will fix that. BTW, I used to work for plastic surgeons and am an aesthetic mogul. What you have to do is combine and rotate treatments. Assuming you do not want to see a plastic surgeon, buy a home laser, buy a microcurrent facial toning device, a home microderm system, buy an infrared light device, a home “Thermage” system (they sell smaller devices that give a less invasive treatment–Radio frequency (RF) Dot Matrix–lifts sagging skin. All of these do subtle things and you can do research to pick and choose what to purchase based on your most urgent needs. But used over time these DEFINITELY improve skin texture and can lift those marionette lines, smooth them for you. Unless you want to spend $$$ on a plastic surgeon, do your research and invest in some home devices. They WORK. They take time, but you will see nice results. Take before/after photos. Good luck!

    Thank you!!!!
