I Purchased a 50 gallon GE Geopspring water heate to replace an electric water heater. The Lowes web site claims that this product can be installed in a closet or even an attic. I had the water heater professionally installed in the same closet as the original heater. In approximately 7 months the water heater began to signal a fault. Per the user manual I checked the filter, which was not dirty but I cleaned anyway, and pushed the reset. Failing to correct the problem I contacted GE. GE service said they would mail me new parts at no charge but the service call would be a $90. When the technician arrived he said the unit didn't need the parts but it did need more air circulation. I opened the window in the door and he reset the unit. 4 months later another fault and this time GE said the unit needed to be installed in a minimum of a 10 ft by 10 ft room and not a closet. When I mentioned the Lowes website they pointed to the manual ands said the installer should not have installed it. The assistant store manager at Lowes Clearwater said he has a 10 ft by 10 ft closet so the web site is correct and it is now past 1 year so he can not help. Run don't walk from GE products!
