I have found that Best Buy experiences depend upon the store. For example, the Aurora, IL, store staff is FABULOUS in multiple departments--from computers to Geek Squad to customer service. The sales associates are extremely knowledgeable, the Geek Squad staff helpful and efficient and the customer service folks amazing. That store gets FIVE PLUS stars from me.

On the other hand, the Downers' Grove/Butterfield store in Illinois is AWFUL! They get a half star at BEST rating from me. Their sales people are pushy, and they do NOT honor return policies. (For example: I purchased a computer that, two days after I had it, I was unable to install or uninstall software. I took it in, the Geek Squad guy looked at it, and agreed the unit was defective. He asked what I wanted to do. I said I would like to just get the exact same computer if they had another one in stock. They did. They said they would just do an exchange. I asked if something went wrong with that new computer if I had fourteen days from the exchange date to return it--or 14 days from the day of the purchase of the original computer. BOTH the Geek Squad guy and the sales associate said it was 14 days from the day OF THE EXCHANGE.

Well, a dozen days later, the screen on the second computer went out. I took it back, since it was within 14 days of the exchange date. The return clerk said I could not exchange it, because their policy was 14 days from the date of the original purchase--not the exchange. I stood there an argued with her, reminding her that SHE was the same person who had told me it was 14 days from the exchange date AND that there were two witnesses to her making that statement. She then said she would have to talk to her manager, but that he was gone for the day.

I took the computer, along with my receipts, to the Aurora store, which gave me a full refund, no questions asked. I mentioned that the other store had said returns were only allowed from the date of the original purchase, to which the Aurora clerk said that absolutely was NOT true.

What did I do with my refund? Went back to the the comptuter department at the Aurora store and purchased a different brand of computer. (I figured two lemons within two weeks meant the manufacturer of had some issues.) I've been happy with my computer ever since.

I also purchased MANY more items from the Aurora store (video camera, cell phone, microphone, various computer USB converters, and two computer monitors. I've had great experiences with all purchases.

I ordered two pairs of bedroom slippers--the exact size and style. One I ordered from Plumstuck, and the other from another company because Plumstruck did not have the second color I wanted.

They promised free returns. WRONG! When the item arrived, the size was completely off. (I have ordered these exact same slippers from other companies in the past, in the exact same size, and they fit like a glove. So, it seems the manufacturer changed their sizing since the last time I ordered.)

Plumstruck said my reason for return (size was improper; not true to size) was a "personal preference" reason, so they were charging me full shipping plus an extra admin fee. Oddly, the slippers I ordered from the other company also suffered from the same ill-sizing issue. Yet that company, WITHOUT ANY HASSLES, game me a full refund, and IMMEDIATELY gave me a return shipping label to print. Plumbstruck made me jump through three hoops of filling out forms, back-and-forth emails, and general BS. NEVER again will I order anything from this company. The lie about their return policy, and then they make the customer jump through unnecessary hoops to get a refund. I should have looked at the poor ratings for this supplier before I ordered from them.

Tip for consumers:
Avoid at all costs.
