Had dinner at Ruiz with a group of 14. First of all, our waitress brought our food & did bring additional drinks when we were able to flag her down, but never refilled water glasses & had to be asked 3 times for the Happy Birthday song at our table. It wasn't terribly busy, she was just a very mediocre waitress at best. Our check was for 4 people & totaled $227 because she added too many entrees, drinks & desserts (that birthday cake was NOT free!). I went over the bill & marked every error she made & politely reviewed it with her. The second check came out $187, still had too many entrees, an extra drink & an extra dessert. The third check came out ($184) with those items removed, but another more expensive entrée had been added and the tip, which was added to our bill without our knowledge supposedly because of our group of 14, was still based on the $227 tab! By this time, it was no longer a "simple mistake"! The fourth check came out with the correct items & the correct 20% tip, but by now there was no way we were giving this waitress a 20% tip! We asked for the manager, who was very nice & defused a very tense situation (all of the rest of our party had left by this time, so I was very angry & embarrassed) and she removed the tip. Bottom line we were overcharged $90 or 60% by a dishonest waitress and even though the food was good, we will never go back to this place!
