It is a good web forum because it is been around for many years, and it provides a nice home for expats here in Shanghai. It is particularly useful for finding daily life insights and suggestions from other expats. Recently redesigned, it is a bit complicated to navigate.

This party-inclined expat site in Shanghai is quite good in terms of design and structure. It is also pretty good if you are a student or some other not-so-busy person, because it mainly focuses on topics that mostly cater to youngsters. However the website is unnecessarily pretentious in its own special. I personally don't like their "I want to be cool no matter what" kind of attitude. Their dating service is full of pretty weird people.

As an expat living in Shanghai, City Weekend is my first stop before going out. It makes my life easier because I can trust their reviews, and their listings are practically the best in town, always updated. The ability to read other users' comments on a venue helps decision making, especially when you have a picky group of friends that always wants to visit great restaurants and nightclubs! The website is a little bit antiquate, but I've heard they're working on a new version. I would like to see more social functions on the website, but hey, nobody's perfect. Great site!
