I just "sold" my first item on listia. What a joke! It was a $30.00 item that "sold" for 2,900 credits, which by my math is less than $4.00. Then I had to pay the postage $13.50... wow. I just paid money to give my item away. What a waste of my time. Don't bother

I’m sorry to hear that your first auction experience was not what you expected. As you may know, Listia is an online marketplace where you win other people's stuff using credits instead of money.
All items on our site are free to give away, however Sellers have the option of offering free shipping with their item (e.g. Seller pays out of pocket to send the item) or they can charge shipping fee with their item (e.g. Buyer pays for the shipping cost). Shipping can be exact rate or flat rate and there are various methods of payment (e.g. PayPal only, concealed cash, etc).
When you list an item, you agree to follow through on your listing regardless of the final bid amount, in which you did. If you were unhappy with the final bid amount, in the future you may want to set a start bid to your auction listing for a credit amount you’d be satisfied with receiving, at minimum. As for the shipping cost, auctions that are listed with Free Shipping do tend to get more bids, but you can always require shipping payments from the Winner of your auction.
I hope you consider giving the site another try and see how much fun it is to sell and buy items on Listia!
