  • PayPal

First let me say that I have previously used Paypal for years without a problem until now. I have been using the same paypal account with the same cedit card attached to it mostly for Ebay purchases since 2005. The credit card account I have attached to Paypal I have had long before both Ebay or Paypal ever existed. I have a fairly large credit limit on the card. I bought a pair of pants for my son off an Ebay vendor... not a big purchase. Maybe around $15 shipped.

Long story short when I went to pay Paypal declined my payment because supposedly I have reached some magical spending limit over the years and now Paypal needs to verify that I am not a fraud. Ummm... I've been using and buying with the same card since 2005... if you haven't been able to figure out that I am not a fraud by now, I don't know what to tell you.
You would also think that if I was approaching whatever this magical limit was they might shoot me an email letting me know I was approaching said number so I don't try and buy anything.
Next I get an email saying I can undo this by either linking my bank account to Paypal or by getting a Paypal credit card. I do not give 3rd parties my bank account number nor do I want a Paypal credit card, thank you.

Fast forward to the following morning I decide to call Paypal to try and fix this so that I can pay for the pants I ordered. I am on hold for a total of 49 minutes before anyone even answers the phone. Finally a woman answers and tells me the same as the email. I need to link my bank or get a Paypal credit card. I tell her I don't want to do either. She says the only other thing I can do is give her my SS# over the phone. I told her I was not going to, I don't give that over the phone, I have no idea who she even is and that wasn't going to happen especially since I never gave Paypal that info when I first opened the account. She says that's all she can do and transfers me to a manager please hold.
I was on hold for another 15 minutes before I gave up and hung up. Terrible customer service. Who has time to be on hold for over an hour? Unfortunately I can no longer say I like Paypal, and I caution anyone that wants to use it. And unfortunately for me that means since 90% of the vendors on Ebay only accept Paypal that I won't be using Ebay or reccomend either of them.
If you do choose to use Paypal, I advise you to make sure you don't have some magical limit on your account.
It's a shame that they treat their long term customers the way they do.

Well if you had asked me 7 months ago when I first ordered from this company I would have said they were great. They have some really cute things and unique clothes and gifts.
I ordered from them a few months ago thinking I'd already had one decent transaction, it can't be too bad... boy was I wrong.
My last order was a fairly large order - I have a rather large list of people to buy Christmas presents, so I start shopping early. I also had some things that were presents for a party in September. Unfortunately long story short, the company cancelled more than half of my order because everything was out of stock (even though all but one was listed as being in stock when I ordered). This really kinda messed up my gifts because they were items that went together as presents, and were kind of pointless without them therefore I would not have even bought the ones I did recieve.
It also took forever to ship and also to find out that some things were getting cancelled... leaving me totally without a gift for the September party which was a month and a half after I placed my order. It seemed like all I did was spend my time waiting for my stuff to arrive only to get notification after notification of cancellations usually listing 2 or 3 things at a time. It was really frustrating. Bottom line... I will never buy from this company again, nor will I recommend them to anyone.

  • Pogo

I love Pogo.com. I've been using this site off and on for about 9 years or so. My son also likes playing the games. There is a very large variety of games to choose from.
One thing that can be pretty annoying is the ads in between the games with the free sign up membership. If you buy the Club Pogo membership you don't have to deal with the ads, and you also get access to games that are exclusive to Club Pogo accounts. I have had both memberships before and Club Pogo is definitely much better. You can also turn in coke rewards codes on Coke's website towards and get a free Club Pogo membership that way.
You also can complete tasks for badges, earn tokens to buy virtual things and dress up your profile person. I personally don't utilize any of these things, but my son does and loves it.
Bottom line for me is it's not a bad way to kill a little time when you feel like it.

  • Etsy

Etsy is a website where you can browse and buy mostly handmade and vintage items from various shops. I love this website and can get quite lost looking at all the very unique and amazing items for sale. If you're looking for one piece of jewelery or decor that is unique and not everyone has then this is the place for you. The only issue I've ever had with Etsy is that I had to self-ban myself from going on their website because I spend too much money. Etsy does accept Paypal (or at least all the vendors I've purchased from) and I do recommend you pay through paypal, because similarly to Ebay, I'm sure there are dishonest vendors on Etsy as well, however I have never run into it. Ll in all, I think it's a great website, although quite addicting and if you're like me you may have to lock up your wallet somewhere.

  • Angry Birds

7/31/12

This is the website for the video game Angry Birds. I can't comment about the game itself other than my son does love the games they put out. What I DIDN"T like about this site is that when I went to the site to download the new Angry Birds Space game to my son's laptop for him, the price they stated they would charge you is different then what your credit card charges you.
When I downloaded it the site said $5.95 and although I was ok with that, when I got may actual credit card bill I was charged a $2 international transaction fee. For a DOWNLOAD. Whatever. Apparently the website is not based in the US and downloading the game is considered an International transaction and most credit cards charge a fee for International transactions. I know it's only $2, but the thing that I found really annoying is that nowhere on the website does it state that it is considered an international transaction, or that there will be an additional cost.
It really needs to be stated somewhere on the website, and I just thought I'd give people a heads up if you're like me and not aware of it.

  • ShopAtHome

Shopathome.com is an online shopping cash back site similar to Ebates and others. Basically you go through their links and shop at online stores and get a percentage of your total back. Most stores offer between 3%-8% although I have seen as low as 1% and as high as 60%. They usually will send a check at the end of every month, but you need to have earned a minumum of $20 to get a check. I can't say I've had any negative experiences with this company. I have received several checks from them with little or no effort on my part. The hardest part is remembering to go through their site links first. I just last month got a check for around $235 in the mail that I had completely forgotten about (We ordered several appliances online and picked them up at our local store). Most checks will not be that big unless you spend a huge amount of money somewhere, but they do add up pretty fast. I also shop online a fair amount. If you don't shop online often chances are you won't make much cash back. I love this site and have not had any problems yet.

  • Swagbucks

7/30/12

Not a totally bad site. It is legitimate and you can get free stuff by earning "swagbucks" which are then turned in for various prizes. I have gotten several $5 Amazon gift cards through Swagbucks, which in my opinion are the best value. You earn swagbucks by doing searches using their search engine, watching videos and taking surveys. They do occaisionally toss some random codes in their blogs or on the website or FB page. However I found that unless I was on the site ALL the time it took a really long time to earn anything. I also agree that being told 1/2 way into a survey that you don't qualify is completely annoying. So if you have a lot of time on your hands, this is a legit and decent site... if not, there are better ways out there to get free giftcards and get paid for surveys.

  • MyCokeRewards

7/30/12

Basically you save your My Coke Rewards codes and enter them in for prizes and such. Some of the prizes are kind of cheezy and in my opinion nothing I would save like crazy for, and the ones that are really good have an astronomical point value. However my husband drinks an insane amount of Coke and we do save our rewards.
I turn mine in for coupons for free food or drink that they will snail mail you. You can also get free Club Pogo memberships by turning in your codes - my son enjoys this very much. Also, you can get the codes off of anything manufactured by CocaCola, including Powerade and Desani water, so it's not just Coke you have to drink.
The things I don't like are the site only allows you to enter 120 points a week which is kind of a pain in the butt... I like to enter whatever I have all at once and not have stuff hanging around my house... but it works for me I guess. And also if you don't turn in points or trade for a reward for 90 days your account is considered inactive and you will lose any points you have banked. I have a friend that this happened to, but she did say she called the company and they had great customer service and replaced her points for her. All in all, if you or someone in your house drinks a lot of Coke products, this is a decent site.

  • Roaman's

7/30/12

I've ordered several things from them in the past and have been pretty satisfied. Prices can be really inexpensive to fairly pricey (for me anyways), but they often have sales and/or coupon codes that you can score a nice deal with. Shipping can be a little high, but I usually try and get a free ship code or a large enough discount to justify it. Clothes are cute, and mostly decent quality, and there are honest reviews on the website which helps. I find that some of their stuff runs a little big compare to other sites/stores sizing, but I just order a size smaller and I am good. All in all it's a great place to shop, especially if you are a larger size.

  • The Children's Place

7/30/12

If you have kids to buy clothes for, this is a great site. They are a division of Gymboree. The prices are very reasonable, as is the shipping. I find the the quality to be very good, although some of the pants seem to run a little big for my son. But I'd rather them be too big than too small. The fleece sweatshirts are super soft, and they often have great sales.

  • Woot!

7/30/12

I've been using Woot.com for several years and gotten many good deals from here. They have a daily deal of the day on all their sites (Kid's Woot, Sports Woot, Wine Woot etc.). They also have what are called "Woot off's" every so often-basically it's many flash deals per day that last until stuff sells out. I also enjoy their descriptions (funny as heck!) and that they have a forum in which people can talk about the product and their experiences if they own it. Shipping is great... it is usually one flat price for up to 3 of the same item, however their shipping can be a bit on the slow side. If you don't need something right away I reccomend them highly... I have gotten lots of great deals there.

  • Zulily

7/30/12

I can't say that I have had a bad experience with Zulily and I have ordered repeatedly from them many times. I have gotten very good deals, and a few unique things that you just can't find in any old chain store. The quality goods i have ordered have always been very nice. But with that being said, I will advise you if you are thinking of ordering something from Zulily, make sure you don't need it right away... as in if it's a Christmas present or you need it for an event order it well in advance, as the shipping process is VERY slow. (It does state on the website that it ships within 14 BUSINESS days - as in almost 3 weeks.) Also, I've noticed that most items seem to be un-returnable. It also states this on the website. So, I would say in my experience, if you don't need something right away and you are patient you can get some really great deals through Zulily.
