  • Groupon

11/8/16

Looking for an unbeatable deal on massage therapy and thought I found it on Groupon. I mistakenly believed BodyWork Boutique had a location very near my home yet I couldn't verify this until I purchased the $49 Groupon (sneaky, sneaky) and upon doing so, of course discovered I had to make a 40 mile round trip drive to the OTHER location. 40 miles? For a MASSAGE? Not this girl, not when there are therapists galore within a 5 mile radius of my home. Naturally after wasting too much time figuring all this out, Groupon was already in possession of my $49 and was in no hurry to give me a refund. They gaily informed me I have a $49 Groupon Bucks credit to use for another fabulous Groupon deal but this isn't what I wanted. I wanted the $49 credited back to my credit card and made my desire quite clear only no one seemed to be listening. Like I was speaking Greek when I asked for my money back. Having no other choice but to pick up the phone and call them-- e-mails were getting me nowhere-- I had to Google Groupon's customer service phone number as it is impossible to find it on their website. Of course they were closed but did manage to have a live chat with one of their reps. She also was delighted to inform me I had $49 in Groupon Bucks to put toward another amazing Groupon deal. I was beginning to feel I was in the internet Twilight Zone and told her-- AGAIN, IN PLAIN ENGLISH--that I didn't WANT Groupon Bucks, that I'd never use Groupon again! She finally seemed to comprehend and told me in 3-10 business days I'd have a refund to my credit card. This statement always baffles me-- how they get my money in less than 10 minutes but how it takes up to 10 BUSINESS DAYS to get my money back! Very unpleasant, disappointing first experience with this sneaky site, will never use it again and I advise others to beware, beware, beware.

  • Home Stay In

9/16/16

This site needs to be removed from the internet as soon as possible. I posted an ad listing my spare bedroom on homestayin.com and did not get one. Single. Response. However, the local officials in my town noted the ad and I was told to remove it immediately for legal reasons. There is not one single place on the homestayin.com website that shows how to do this. NOTHING. I clicked on every single link and read every disclaimer known to man but there was not one word detailing how to remove your posting. Having no other choice I went to the "contact us" link, sure to find a phone number but guess what? NOTHING THERE EITHER! The only way to get in touch with them was via e-mail, so I sent 3 frantic e-mails hoping my hysterical tone would alert some sleepy person at homestayin.com to help one of their customers. Not! Almost 3 days later I got an apathetic response that they received my request and they are removing my ad, no apology, no explanation, nothing more. AVOID THIS WEBSITE, and if you want to host guests or students find somewhere else to list your room! The most horrible experience I've ever had online!

  • OurTime

5/7/16

After being single for the past 7 years (and now I know why) I decided to try Our Time, having heard some positive things about it. I got lots of interesting men responding but a man named Kirit (profile usrock1234) caught my eye and also initiated contact with me. He seemed genuinely nice so I gave him my cell phone. He began texting me and insisted that we meet this Sunday. I told him I was working all day, meaning a full 8 hour shift, but would finish 12:30 p.m. He said that's NOT all day and his ensuing messages were arguing about semantics. He said that I "should have" just said I finish 12:30 and that we could have avoided any problems. I'm a big girl and don't need anyone telling me what I should have done. I was raised to be eternally polite and gracious so I didn't respond. This is when his messages became ominous and taunting, borderline psychotic, so I blocked him on Our Time. He then inundated me with cell phone texts that inspired so much fear and apprehension that I had to change my phone number. I cannot endanger myself or my family by creeps and losers like this and I have informed Our Time about this ghastly, unfortunate (to put it mildly) experience. DO NOT APPROACH THIS MAN ON OUR TIME OR ANY OTHER WEBSITE, HE IS EVIL AND MENTALLY ILL. I sincerely believe Our Time and all reputable dating websites needs to have a vetting process in place. But I guess they wouldn't make any money then. An ironic footnote to all this is that there were other men interested in me, who could have been normal people but after my encounter with Kirit I deleted everyone so I'll never know. If this is what I have to go through, I will happily spend the rest of my life alone. Lesson learned.

  • Wayfair

2/14/16

My first purchase with Wayfair was a spa/hot tub-- cost about $2500 when everything I found in pool and spa stores was over $5000. The hot tub was delivered on the promised day, heavily packaged to avoid any damage and standing on its side. Although I tipped the delivery men for bringing it around to the back of my home, I wish they'd gone a step further and set it up for me-- it would have taken them an extra 5 minutes to lay down the hot tub and remove all the shrink wrap and padding foam so that it was ready to fill up. Instead, I had to enlist the help of 3 strong friends though it was still worth all the effort. The hot tub has been one of my best investments ever and I use it almost daily, even when it's below 0 outside like today. Before I placed my order for the hot tub I spoke with a super-nice and helpful customer assistant who wasn't in a hurry to get off the phone, something I often experience when calling 1-800 numbers with my questions and concerns. I have also ordered office chairs and a bathroom space-saving chrome storage rack, and everything arrived quickly and in perfect condition, though I did have to assemble the chairs and the rack but that seems to be the new normal. As with any website, before you shell out your hard-earned money, please be sure about their return policy though I have had pretty good luck with Wayfair, you must check first so as not to get burned.

  • Lucky Vitamin

2/12/16

Found this site had the best price on Almased and ordered 2 canisters of it. When they arrived I found the loosely fitting top of each canister had become dislodged in shipping and the thin foil seal had also come open, spilling quite a bit of the product into the box. I tried calling their 1-800 number immediately and never got ahold of a human being despite being on hold for an eternity, so I sat down and sent a quick email to their customer service, expressing my disappointment at the poor packaging. They apologized profusely and immediately shipped out not one but two canisters of Almased --at no charge. When I got the first 2 cans I cursed a blue streak, vowing never again to order from them again but instead of playing the poor victim, I reached out to them with praiseworthy results-- refreshing how some merchandisers will go out of their way to establish a strong, loyal customer base, and this was one of them. I have dealt with other retailers who could care less about customer satisfaction but Lucky Vitamin is doing everything right, at least with my experience.

  • Rosegal

6/3/15

I wrote a review for this BS company a few months ago and just for curiosity's sake read the latest reviews-- most of which are horrible. Not sure why they are still in business? And would it be possible to file a class action lawsuit against Rosegal and all their spinoff businesses? Or does the fact they are located in China offer them some type of protection? Their website has a little blurb about how Rosegal was founded by a group of friends who share a deep abiding passion for fashion-- Well, I hate this company with just as much passion because they are greedy liars out to defraud us. If anyone with legal know-how is reading this, please feel free to share what can be done to close the Rosegal sweatshops for all eternity.
Occasionally I'll check back to read other reviews on Rosegal and I have noted:
1. "Customers" obviously fakes, posting glowing reviews about their purchases. Who are these lucky people getting nice clothes from Rosegal? And why wasn't I one of them?
2. Rosegal "representatives" offering up phony apologies, asking for order numbers, stating that customer satisfaction is their goal. This is 100% BS-- Rosegal's goal is to steal as much money as possible from unsuspecting American women who think they're getting what is in the picture.
3. Rosegal and all their ripoff companies advertise heavily on Facebook and many FB users clicking "like" on their ads, putting all sorts of useless, misleading, stupid comments directed at their FB friends, i. E., "Girlll! You will look soooo hot in this dress! I'm getting one too & wearin it next weekend!" I will never understand how stupid these people can be, thinking they will get the dress/swimsuit/whatever in the picture, and thinking it will arrive in one week when in all probability it will take 4 months and summer will be long over. If you really want something decent, GO TO A STORE, TOUCH/FEEL/SEE WHAT YOU'RE BUYING! And if it doesn't pan out, you can RETURN IT! STAY AWAY FROM THESE SCAM COMPANIES ONLINE!
