I am a warrior for consumer rights, I tell it like it is, I try to keep my reviews short, but packed with information and don't go off on tangents, I do give helpful votes when coming to this site to look something up and... I got interviewed by the local new station based on one of my reviews! So I have my 15 minutes of fame.
I have owned 3 successful businesses and am making it through the economic downturn pretty well, if you have ANY cash laying around, invest in in Apple stock (mine had over quadrupled since I bought it 3 years ago) I know a lot about how to purchase a purebred cat from out of the state you live in (and who to stay away from!) and I am an expert on travel to France.

One thing I will say is this: they have a fantastic support system. There is a dietician online who you can submit questions to and many chat rooms moderated by real people who claim they have lost weight.
Unfortunately, for me, I have a quite delicate stomach and after 3 bites of my food I was so full I felt like I had just eaten 3 Thanksgiving dinners. And I HATE that super full feeling. I never eat to that point. So I am returning mine. Plus, the food sat in my stomach like I had eaten a bowl full of cement.
The lady I spoke with on the phone was kinda snippy with me when I told her how it affected me. She said that is supposed to be how it works. But I felt SICK and UNCOMFORTABLE.... that's different than just feeling full. And I was slightly afraid of it, so I used a VERY small amount of the product.
I'm thinking too good to be true. *sigh* time to start exercising again. ;)
I actually never placed the order. When I was putting things in my shopping cart, I was under the impression that I was going to get 15% off my entire order because I had filled out a survey. But, the 15% was only if I was going to buy the same product that I bought before (which I would not as I was dissatisfied with the product).
When I found that out (I had called them because I though their site was malfunctioning by not accepting my 15% off code) I minimized my shopping cart and sort of forgot about it. A few hours later, my computer had a pop up that said I needed to update some software, so I did so and that required me to restart my computer. I never actually finalized my order and was on the fence about it because I wasn't getting the 15% off. I was going to look around to see if I could find the things I needed for a better price.
I never received an email from Dermstore saying that they processed my order. A few days later, the order just CAME on it's own and on the same day, later, I got a tracking number from Dermstore saying my order had been processed and was ready to ship and they gave me a shipping number, BUT THE PRODUCT WAS ALREADY HERE!
They charged my credit card and even though it is products that I would use, I do not think I will order from them again because they will just send you anything they want to without you getting a chance to confirm with them.
I called them about the most expensive tickets for Tori Amos on December 14 on September 15 and their policy is that if a broker says "orchestra row A-P" they cannot give you ANY other information.
Why would a company who put me on hold for 20 minutes waste my time and THEN be SNARKY when I told them at there is a BIG difference between row A (front row) and row P, which would be unacceptable to me. The lady actually got ANGRY with me.
Do not call this foolish website that, truly, has no right to exist. And when is the behemoth monopoly called TicketMaster going to be disbanded? When people buy up all the good seats that are $75 marked on the ticket and then try to bilk you out of how ever much they think they can get away with, well, those people are evil. Concert tickets should be sold to fans... not money making machines who do not care about Tori Amos (or, insert your favorite musical artist here) and probably don't even know who that band/singer/person is.
The worst experience with a ticket reseller I have ever had...plus, if I would have gambled with my seat, I would have had the privilege of paying a 15% finder's fee AND $11.99 for expedited shipping, even though the show is 3 months away.
Soulless Bureaucrats.
I have been a member of Audible.com for about a year now. I enjoy occasionally listening to a book rather than reading it and it has helped me make it through some extremely LONG books like The Count of Monte Cristo, Tom Jones: The Story of a Foundling, Roots and several others that are more than 1,000 pages in length. Also, I feel that for some of the "classics" it is a bit more fun to be read to rather than slog through dry sentences and have to look up words that aren't commonly used anymore (although I still did that, but I didn't have to put down the book and haul out the dictionary right at that moment in order for it to make sense).
Audio books are super expensive and I don't really think you can effectively share them unless you are willing to part with your iPod or computer...os I don't like not being able to just give away a book when I am done reading it. One thing that is cool is that I can delete them off my hard drive (for space saving reasons) but if I ever want to download it again for any reason, I own the download and I can download it for free. I have done that once.
Here are my small complaints about the company: I like to review my books both as keepsakes for me and I just enjoy giving my opinion. I like doing it on Audible (it is owned by Amazon) because people can vote if your review was "helpful" but not start an argument with you or call you names if they happen to disagree with you. I do not like that when you listen to a sample, if the book has a forward, you will get to listen to that rather than part of the first chapter, and that has mislead me more than once. But to be fair to the company, when I have complained about this and felt mislead, I was cheerfully given my credit back (you keep a valid credit card with them and they charge you every month...and there is a deep discount for the first 3 months if you have never been a member before)...so that's cool and I have purchased a few novels at deep discounts when they are having a sale.
But the part that irks me the most is when I have put a good deal of thought and care into a review, and unless you are the very first person to review the novel, your review gets buried on page 4 or 10 because it doesn't have any "helpful" votes yet.
What?
How are you able to garner helpful votes or not if no one is ever given a chance to see your review? I have complained to them about this before...why cannot they just be in chronological order? Or, why not set it up so that you have a choice of seeing the reviews with the most "helpful" votes or see them chronologically? I would think their website is sophisticated enough to do that, wouldn't you?
I wrote a very thoughtful review of Roots that is buried on like the 10th page of the reviews...so no one has seen it. It takes time and effort to write reviews and I think I deserve a chance to be read. Am I supposed to ask my friends who have Audible to vote helpful for me so that my review will be on the front couple of pages? Because, I don't think most people go beyond the first couple of pages, do you? I know I typically do not.
Anyway, that is my 2 cents about how I feel about Audible. I was bummed to find out that they were owned by Amazon, but not surprised. And, I have learned that now, if I am undecided about a book and it has lots of reviews, I really need to spend time reading the reviews. If you are an Audible member, I would suggest the same thing for you, because lately I have been swayed into buying books that I normally would not buy due to the placement of all the most helpful (meaning "good") reviews are all stacked at the top.
Thanks for reading! ~ML
I have been scanning the web for lash and brow stimulators ever since RenewLash was taken off the market and replaced by LiLash (which I am not fond of...all my beautiful growth...gone! People used to stop me on the street to ask where I got such real-looking false eyelashes) and I came across a site that reviewed lash and brow stimulators and one I had never heard of that got the best reviews is called IdolLash, so I decided to order some.
First of all, it would not allow me to change my shipping option, so I wound up paying nearly $17 for "rush" delivery. No matter how many times I changed it to "regular delivery" it kept bumping me up to the $17 option. That is super expensive for such a tiny product that come in a tube the size and shape of a mascara tube!
Then I saw this little, tiny "help" link that said 24/7 help available. But not only did they not give an email address, their operators are NOT standing by and I can contact them by regular US mail (I guess that's the 24/7 bit) or I can call during regular west coast business hours... Um... That doesn't even begin to satisfy the MINIMUM requirements for what I would call 24/7 help. Of course I will call them Monday and try to sort it out, but Mondays are busy and they don't even have an 800 number!!!! So, yeah, I have a big hate-on for that.
Plus, I got this email congratulating me into their monthly program where they will just keep and use my credit card information to send me out a new tube (whether I want one or not) every month. When I was placing my order, it said NOTHING about that! So now I have 3 gigantic complaints about this company... They forced me to pay $17 for something that should cost no more than $4 to ship and I am now enrolled in their monthly shipping program AND they are NOT available 24/7 to help me.
Three strikes... you are out. Now I don't even want the stuff (because if the company is going to be that shady about their "monthly program" and not let me choose my own shipping method AND advertise 24/7 customer support) how can I be sure that the product I have never heard of suddenly has all these 5-star reviews. I am very suspicious that all of their "feedback" was planted by the company.
Right now it is Saturday evening. So I have to wait one and a half days to address this situation. They are shady, unethical and liars. Don't order from them until I come back and say something like "OMG! This stuff works so great that everyone should try it." And that could happen, I just don't believe that it will. I just hate companies that are not upfront with all of their policies, but this one actually LIES about it! So, until further notice, stay away from them. But you never know... I could come back and say...wow... this is the best stuff I have been able to find with over a year of searching.
I am very interested in trying this product. I have tried Latisse but that somewhat burned my eyes and I'm afraid of their disclaimer about turning my blue eyes in to brown. I tried revitalash too and that didnt seem to work.
Hi Tracy,
I have brown eyes, and I would never use Latisse because it was the FDA who decided that RenuLash should be their intellectual property. So the company was forced to close, LiLash stepped in and either bought it or it was transferred to them, and they took out the ONE ingredient that actually gave me incredible lashes and brows. So, after a year of using LiLash, I have lost all my extra growth and my brows are really sparse again and my lashes are nothing special. I don't think anything can really turn the color of your eyes from blue to brown... I thought the fear was that it could discolor the eye lid skin, but just that is enough to scare me away completely from trying it. If I would have known that RenuLash was going to be taken off the market I would have bought as many tubes of it as I could. I have scoured the web, but no one has it and the few people who do aren't giving theirs up. But if this new product works, I will change my story, but on Monday I have to call the company and deal with their deceptive business practices, so I'm not holding out a lot of hope. The only glimmer is that they actually have a 90 day guarantee that in 4 weeks if you do not see significant lash growth, you get your money back. I just don't like the way this company does business. But I'll give a report in a month if I was able to notice growth or not. I'll be sure to take a "before picture" like I did before I started using renulash. I would really like to know who else has tried it...but since I was the firs person to report on it here on SiteJabber, then I suspect that no one (at least in this community) knows about it. I will keep everyone updated.
Please let me know if it really does work for you. I also heard Obagi makes a lash product too.
Oh no! A friend of mine was recommended Latisse the other day at Sephora (by the salesperson), and she bought it... The things we do as women to make ourselves look good..
Melinda i was wondering what you think about lilash? Have you got an answar from them?
i ment idollash hehe:) I have never heard of it and wonder if it really works? Is it safe to order from their site?
Dina L..... sorry I didn't see your response until now (hey, SiteJabber...maybe you should notify when I get a comment!). I didn't have any trouble at all getting off the automatic replacement deal. If the product works for you... then great. It did not work for me. Nothing has except Metics RenuLash, which was bought out by LiLash which doesn't work and is super expensive. If you want some of my Idol Lash, Just reimburse me for shipping and I'll send you a tube. Send me your email so we can communicate: I am at MelindaLu11@aol.com
Add me to the list of people who got ripped off from this "company". Why oh why do not I came to Site jabber FIRST before buying?
Add me to the chorus of complainers about this retailer. Ugh!
I got 25 free downloads from Ticketmaster when I printed out my ticket using TicketFast from emusic.com. But it MUST be one of the buggiest sites I have ever tried to use. They keep stopping you offering you more and better "deals" (which I did take one) and it still would not allow me to download the music that they convinced me to PAY for! With the EASE of iTunes, why would you ever go anywhere else?
Oh yeah... the lure of "free" music. But when it wastes all my evening trying to work the bugs out, then it isn't really free, now is it?
OK... Listen up people!
Raise your hands if you like wine....
Lower your hands if you like dogs (so you can pet your puppy now!).......
Raise you hands if you like art......
Here is a chance to vote for a new wine label and also look at some amazing art!
I know the artist who did #46...and if you feel moved to vote for her because you are following me, then please do... But there are also other beautiful dog-oriented/wine-oriented art to feast your eyes upon. Voting for this round closes on May 27.......so hurry! And pass it along! What a cool site...and how wonderful that they are giving an unknown artist the opportunity to create a wine label.
Such a fun site to look through! YAY!
Now this is a fantastic site. Thoughtful people frequent this site and you can align yourself easily with people who have similar taste in books as you do. It's the best site I know of to get honest feedback about books that you might be interested in reading. And they don't have that awful competitive aura around them like Amazon does. Amazon will do a face off with "the most helpful" review for a positive review of a book VS "the most helpful" review for a negative review. Except they never highlight an actual completely negative review....cuz they want you to buy the book...so they highlight a 3 star review.
GoodReads is just inhabited by better reviewers than Amazon because they aren't selling anything. However... they do give you a button to press if you read a review that you just cannot wait to order it...but they give you options of who currently has the book, which is particularly helpful if yu want to compare prices right then and there.
I would also say that GoodReads has the highest ratio of published authors making insightful comments about books than anywhere else I have been. No pretenders there. It's easy to make friends and then follow their likes and dislikes. Plus there is an option to copare books side by side which you have read with anyone on the site....and that is one of the features I like best.
All art is subjective...and what is a book if not a form of art. GoodReads is the best site for me for making informed decisions about what I want to read next.
So little time, so many great books! GoodReads makes it easier.
I like GoodReads too, but I've haven't had much success using it for book recommendations. To find new books, do you typically look through the reviews of people who seem to share your taste? I guess maybe I haven't found the right people yet...
Have you tried clicking on the link that says "compare books with this person?" (or something to that effect.) That way... you can see their history and yours, too and see if you have compatible tastes. If you have books in common you will see them and their star ratings next to that compared with you own. Look for me...and see if we have read any of the same books. On GoodReads I am MelindaLu.
Ah! I completely overlooked the "compare books" link. I'll try it out, and I'll look for you on the site. Thanks!
Awesome! Great..... Give me little taste of what types of books you like... I might be able to direct you... or your could put some of your favorite books into GR and then start looking at the reviews of said book and from there start finding people who seem to share similar tastes with you. I think I am a fairly good resource as I am in a book club that is 25% men and I only choose which book we are going to read once a year...so 11 times a year I am reading what someone else wants to read. I mean... I'm not sayin' men and women have to like different books...especially because at Christmas we read The Road by Cormac McCarthy (which I felt was sort of a "mans" book) but the women loved it and the men really hated it. So you just never know.
It's easy to get lured in by the cheap prices for new hard cover books. But I feel they have gone too far. I mean, you can buy anything from baby wipes to a tire iron. Why does it need to be so big?
And when I had a problem with a merchant who overcharged me (some sort of clerical error on THEIR part) over 8 times what I was quoted to pay it took me nearly 3 months to clear it up. There is no phone number to call and talk to a live human being and I had to send email after email to try to clear it up. It was ridiculous.
But let's focus on their book review section for a moment: I really hated a book and gave it one star. The author harassed me using various aliases and, then worst of all, got Amazon.com to pull me one star review AND I was accused of hectoring this author. All because this one little crybaby (named Paul Cohn...look it up...I kid you not) complained. And what I found especially fascinating about this particular author is that besides writing total crap "novels" he attacked everyone who gave his book anything less than 5 stars and ALL of his 5 star reviews were from "people" who had never written another book review in their LIFE! I mean... it wasn't a best seller... it maybe sold 20 or 30 copies and it has about 10 5 star reviews that these reviewers have NEVER written another single book review.
I mean, if that doesn't reek or sound of fish, I don't know what does. And Amazon comes down on me??? well, that's just crazy. I say skip Amazon.com and buy local (even though I do live in Seattle, so Amazon is local for me)...because there are so many other book stores who deserve your business.
And don't even get me started on their secondary market. I recently purchased a book that was said to be in "like new" condition. When I got it the cover was torn, there was a red wine (I hope it was red wine) stain on it and worse of all!!! Some passages in the book were underlined in pen! So I complained 3 weeks ago and they said they would refund my money...but have they? ope. And I'll bet you anything it will take between 10-15 emails to get them to honor their money back guarantee. That was 3 weeks ago, and I have not received an email saying that my money was refunded.
I would say this is the ONLY time I would ever say: Set fire to Amazon! (because I associate that name with a particular rain forest that is in peril).
Plain and simple: they suck...long, hard and completely.
I agree! I have started to skip amazon too so I can give my money to smaller companies. Amazon has become the WalMart of the web. Plus their CEO was on the list for the Bilderberg meeting. So, I really don't want them collecting all my shopping info!
I always disregard any overly + or - reviews written by people who've only written that one review. Also I've had my own war of words in the comments section by those trying to sell snake oils. Believe me when I say, us amazonians can detect bs thousands of miles away!! Don't let that troll of an author get to you, keep posting your reviews and you will be heard.
Good for you! I have not seen an author so shameless before. (Yes, I went to Amazon and looked up his name ;-p). I had an experience once where the handbag was not as advertised by the seller, I returned it and when I didn't hear from them for 3 weeks, I contacted Amazon directly. Amazon just asked for the delivery confirmation and then gave me a refund no questions asked, right there while we were on the phone. You could try that if you ever have a problem with a different seller in the future, seems like Amazon will deal with them and refund your money first.
I get really pissed off with their "free delivery" statement when comparing prices. This often puts them in the top spot as being the cheapest. It gets them a lot of credibility on shopping sites. Then I find there is a delivery charge unless I pay for a years delivery in advance, tieing me in to shop there. What a ............ nerve!!
Yes! lack of phone customer support is simply not reasonable when you are dealing with money. It's fine on Facebook where everything is free, but on Amazon it should be mandatory.
I'm sure I am not the first person the review SiteJabber.com... but I do think it is one of the most useful sites on the Internet. I like the thing they say about helping to build a "transparent" internet. So.... if you are reading this, you probably agree with me. It's easy to navigate (that counts BIG in my book) and I have a great pace to go when I want to say something negative or positive about the internet and it's billions of sites.
So, I say...keep up the great work guys! And thank you for creating this space for those of us who need a place that's easy to find and use for how we feel about sites.
OK... I have been with Dibspace for approximately a year and I can honestly say that it is just one of the worst experiences of my life. I can't say enough bad things about Dominic Canterbury who came up with a good concept, got a lot of people excited about the concept and then it became big and we all got to find out that Dominic should be working a straight job because he is just someone who isn't motivated and needs supervision. They were really super excited that they hooked in with a bigger bartering network call BizExchange but my business did exchanges with them years ago, and they were also awful. I personally know 7 people who own very good small businesses who are no longer taking Dibs for their services and just looking for a way to spend them and get out as fast as they can. I'm one of them. Mr. Canterbury is one of the most disorganized people I have ever not have the pleasure of meeting, because the day we were supposed to meet, he stood me up. When I called him he said he was sick and forgot to call me. So I got to check out of my office in the middle of a busy day, drive 15 miles in one direction to meet him, stay there for a half an hour and drive back the other 15 miles when he said he wasn't coming. He never apologized and he never rescheduled. I believe he will try to franchise Dibspace out to entrepreneurs, but if you get a recruiting call from him... take it from me, a trusted person in the SJ community to NOT do it!!! You will regret it. I do hope that someone checks his business model and just does one on their own... But don't work for or with him.
This is a really genius concept and craigslist should be doing something like this. Basically creating a virtual currency. I could imagine hauling someone's furniture in my truck and using those points to trade for a TV. Keep it all online and that way the transactions are safer and easier to negotiate as the currency is all online. Great website, though not sure if there are enough users yet for it to be valuable. Would be interesting to hear in the future how your experience is with the company.
Well... I think once they get the kinks worked out they are going to take it to the national level! But it is a fantastic idea...huh?
When I wrote the above post, the company was quite new. They have gone downhill so fast... it looked like an avalanche. If you live in the Seattle area, stay far, far away from this site. Alll my friends are droping out of it at record rates...and it's too bad, because it was a good concept, but the owner, Dominic Canterbury simply doesn't know the first thing about running his own business.
The next time I'm craving something that I know will feel bad in my stomach but taste good for 5 minutes I am going to visit this site first. It is absolutely hilarious and SOOOOOO disgusting. Then I'll go running for my Whole Foods Popsicles that taste great, have a serving of fruit and that I actually like better than ice cream. What a brilliant idea for a site to get people to think about what they are putting into their bodies. Love it, love it, love it!
OMG!! red velvet pancakes...never saw that before. looks so good. Must resist trying to find a recipe for that...must resist...great website :)
Actually, the red velvet pancakes DID look good........
haha, I just ate 3 donuts and now I saw this website. Sadly I think I know why I need to lose weight but the donuts were so damn good!
My husband eats doughnuts at this place in Seattle called Top Pot Doughnuts and he is a health food nut. So it's very incongruent, but then I saw an article about eating doughnuts in the US and Top Pot is the number 1 doughnut place in the whole US. I like the way they taste but not the way they make me feel. So I don't eat them at all.
http://www.toppotdoughnuts.com I saw the website and now I need to make a trip up there to sample their donuts. sooo delicious...how do you resist donuts? You must have steel willpower.
I just made this my homepage....bikini season here I come!
Heather... that's cute!
OMG! My current favorite site! Get this:
I have become slightly addicted to using web coupons. If you go to the "Restautant.com" link you can pick out certificates for about 210 restaurants (I limited my search to within 15 miles of my house...so if you live in Manhattan...well...I can hardly imagine the possibilities!) So for a $25 coupon it costs $10 and for a $50 coupon it costs $20…etc, etc. I bought 2 coupons: one for $50 to one of my favorite restaurants: Mona's. And a $25 certificate to a pub that looked good on both City~Search and Yelp. It's super easy to cross reference. So I was totally prepared to spend $30 for $75 worth of food. Most coupons have some type of restrictions like "we will add 18% gratuity to your bill before the coupon is factored in" or "can't be used for Happy Hour" or "only one coupon per table" or "dine in only" or "must be used within one year"… totally reasonable things like that.
So as I was checking out I saw a little box that said "do you have a promo code?". So I googled the words "restaurant.com promotions" and found a code (the word MOM) and put it into the little box. I ENDED UP PAYING $9 FOR $75 WORTH OF FOOD!
I am SO blown away!!! So I am sending this out so that you, too can have this amazing experience. David and I have stopped eating out quite a bit because it's so expensive. But now we get to go to 2 great restaurants
!!!!YAY!!! Date night!!!! This particular code ends tomorrow, but they had tons of different codes… so even if that one expires, you will still be able to find more. It looks like they have them in all major cities.
News like this is just too good to keep to one's self. So I am sharing it all with you!
Bon Appitit! (in Julia Child's voice, please!) And Bon everything else :)
I love the deals too! =) My sister often gets the Passport restaurant coupon book which also has some good deals particularly if it includes one of your favorite spots http://www.passportunlimited.com/
And more recently some of my friends have been using http://www.groupon.com/ but I haven't tried it yet.
-Sophie
I've been using this site for a while too -- it turns out that they continually drop the prices over the course of the month. So if you wait long enough, you can actually get the $25 gift certificate for only $2 before it resets to $10... so just wait until you get an email saying 80% off!
Yeah... I actually picked up 2 more restaurant coupons the next day (that I didn't write about) that were worth $50 for $4. That's my kind of shopping! I looked into http://www.passportunlimited.com/ like Sophie N suggested and I'm liking restaurants.com more at this moment. But we stopped eating out because our income went down so much....we own a small business and have been hit hard by the recession. I just don't see how anyone is making any money on this venture....but right now, maybe restaurants just feel that if they can get bodies in the doors they are doing better. And I will admit that I would be willing to spend on a more expensive bottle of wine knowing that I am getting $25 worth of food for $2.
melinda - this is different from restaurant.com, right? (this has an "s")
TicketMaster, the mega monopoly who controls that concerts you wish to see has gone too far. They have started they own "resale" site called TicketsNow.com. Here is what I am hating about this. A concert that I wanted to see went on sale 2 weeks ago. At 9:59 on the dot (tickets went on sale at 10) I was both on the TicketMaster.com site AND had a ticket seller from TM on the phone. The instant 10 o'clock came we started searching for tickets and they had absolutely nothing acceptable. I'm not saying I need to be in the front row or anything, but something in the first 25 rows would have been acceptable. After getting no where both online and on the phone with TicketMaster I went directly to TicketsNow.com at 10:05. And guess what!?! On THAT site they had plenty of fantastic seats for anywhere from $400-$1,000 per seat (not including a 15% service charge).
What feels especially fishy to me is that how in the hell did other TicketMaster "clients" buy all these great seats and then list them for multiple times the face value of the ticket in less than 5 minutes? My guess? TicketMaster is withholding the best seats for their own secondary market and charging ridiculous sums of money for people who just want to see a good concert.
I would LOVE to be part of a class action lawsuit against TicketMaster and their sister company TicketsNow...because I nearly always have to buy tickets on the secondary market because it is nearly impossible to get tickets the regular way for the face value of the tickets. I did a little searching and there is a growing movement to break up the monopoly...but TM is a HUGE worldwide company that probably employs hundreds of lawyers. So someone like me who enjoys going to concerts either gets to sit in the nosebleed sections or pay (what sometimes for me is an entire weeks pay) on the secondary market to sit in the first few rows. TicketsNow.com should be STOPPED! And I do think what they are doing is illegal.
I completely understand your problem as the same exact thing happened to me, but I didn't know about the resale part of it. I could not understand when I was buying exactly when the ticket went on sale how they could sell out?!?!? Not much us little people can do I guess.
so...you get lured into "buying" bids/ I bought 45 bids for $25. I then stated bidding on a ipad that was going up in 1 Cent increments and wasn't getting anywhere with that, so I started bidding on a $15 gift card for iTunes. But I ran out of bids. So I stupidly went to buy more bids, which cost me another $25...and concentrated on getting the iTunes card. I still didn't win it... so then a little window comes up and says "Sorry you didn't win this, would you like to buy it for $2.57"? So I thought...OK, I'll buy it. Even though an itunes certificate can be transferred into your itunes account for free (just with a transaction number) they charged me $1.90 in shipping/handling charges. So, in the end, my $15 iTunes card ended up costing me over $53.00. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE!!! I was lured onto it by them showing me all these great deals people had won, but I don't believe than ANYONE actually won a prize worth over $200 for less than $5. What a horrible rip off.
learn how to bid
it shows how much saving on the screen. How did you end up paying more than the value of the card?
each bid is $0.60. shipping is approx $2.00
before you start the bidding marathon, at least do some calculation so you know when to stop.
You just don't have enough experience.
My 14-yr-old daughter helped me got a $25 gift card at $2.75, and she paid $2.07 for 100 bid credit.
you just need to know how to do it.
you're an idiot.
you can't just jump on and expect to know what to do. you have to learn and watch the bid process. you were just too impatient. after watching this site for 3 days, i began bidding on a psp go and won it for $4.90 with just 6 bids. with shipping and bids included i still spent less than $20.
I just purchased something from QuiBids and I got it JUST when I was beginning to think I would never be able to win a bid. It was exciting! I love it!
The original poster states this includes on an ipad she did not win. If any of you really came out ahead overall you got very lucky and should quit while you're ahead. If not you will see the house(QuiBids) always wins.
In my humble opinion, the whole crowd will be hauled off to jail at any time. It is a lose/lose situation for all but the blessed few who beat the 'bots. Save your time and take your money to the track...You will have a better chance there.
I am, also a victim of their scam and when I complained they just send me like to learn more about their scam.
If I read it first I would not become their victim because anyone with common sins would not do that.
Also I spent over 4 hours and it is never finish but if you don’t believe me be victim like me
here is their web site for you to learn about them
http://www.quibids.com/quibids101/index.php
I know everyone who says anything positive about this site they are must be employed by them.
If everything is clear from the beginning no one will join
I watched this site for about a month. Read the quibids101. I decided to buy the beginners bid pack. I then bid on a 25 bid voucher and won it for $1. Then I decided to try my first auction. I bid on a livescribe smartpen. I used 10 bids and won it for $10. That's only $16 (plus shipping) for a $140 item. I then won a 50 bid voucher for 66 cents. I'm still learning but for those of you who don't bother to learn how the site works and want to blame them for your ignorance are the losers, not the site.
A $10 bid represents 1,000 bids, $600. Mistake in symbols on my original post, but the math was right.
That's the plan, win bid vouchers for a pittance and go for it with the 'freebies.'. Been there, done that, and so have many others. The problem is that it gets increasingly difficult to win those vouchers once you have done so a time or two. Bait and Swirch? I wonder...
I bid a s**t-load of my cut-rate bids that I had won on the previous day, mostly on other vouchers, and I ended up with about 20 bucks squandered and a generous offer from Quibid to apply my extravagance to the list price of another "$45 bid Pack."
Your claim of consistent success leads me to suspect that you may be in their hire.
A $30 @ $.60 a bid 50-bid voucher is worth 50 cents of bidding clout. If you sandbag and wait for a timely moment to slam the competitors with another cent that they cannot afford, then more power to you, but I believe the fix is in. I will avoid this site like the plague. I remain convinced that it is a con.
I love quibids. They even tell you how to win in the quibids 101. It is so easy to win all you need to do is read. They explain it very well. I can't belive how many people don't read or follow the tips given. I My very first day I won a cannon 10mp digital camera for .58 +1 bid .60 +$5. s&h. Since then I have won 24 Gift cards ($680. worth for $73. and $260. in misc stuff for $17.) It is very simple to win I have friends, family, and neighbors who all love it and and won many items also. The people who don't like it are the ones who do what quibids 101 says not to do. LOL
Matt Beckham CEO of Quibids has been involved in promoting acai and colon cleanse scams using fake blogs and Quibids uses fake testimonials and fake news websites to get new customers - very scammy not to mention unethical! Why should anyone trust this site? For proof see: http://notmytribe.com/2010/penny-auctions-quibids-swipebids-et-al-are-more-than-scams-theyre-fraud-818056.html
The site you referred to (www.notmytribe) prooved nothing except that it is anti-capitalism. It is a marxist/communist site and disagrees with anyone making a profit and will do what they do best, lie!!!
"...Quibids uses fake testimonials and fake news websites to get new customers - very scammy not to mention unethical!"
Fake news report lured me in. If it looks like a scam, smells like a scam, and acts like a scam, it's a scam.
I also agree that anyone singing Quibid's praises has to be a company hireling. Quibids 101 my Aunt Fannie.

I NEW THE RISKS, AND ACCEPTED THEM, WHAT I WASN'T READY FOR WAS WHEN I BID ON A 50,OO GIFT CARD THAT HAD ONE CENT BID ON IT, I BID WITH THREE SECONDS TO GO AND THEY POPPED UP A SOMETHING ABOUT A BID ERROR SO THE OTHER PERSON WON WITH HIS ONE CENT BID. I DOUBT THERE WAS ANOTHER AC TUAL PERSON BIDDING, THEY JUST WANTED TO BE ABLE TO SAY SOMEONE WON FOR ONLY ONE CEN T WITHOUT LOSING A 50 CARD. ANOTHER TIME I BID WITH PLENTY OF TIME LEFT AND THE ITEM MYSTERYOUSLY VANISHED TO THE SOLD SECTION AND MY BID NEVER MADE WITH KNOW EXPLANATION IT WAS ALSO A BID ONE FOR ONLY ONE CENT. THEY ALSO PUT ONE BID OF M INE AS AN OPENING BID I DIDN'T MAKE

Thank you Doug R.! I had this happen so many times it was pathetic. I KNOW I WON the auction. My bid was in and a pop up said ... bid too late only to be followed by another "automaton" that won the auction. I complained and got an explanation about internet lag. Huh? My bid is there... but to late? and automaton wins? This was not one occasion.
Quibids is fun ... and escape ... but I do not appreciate the unfair practices. Why? And I know how to bid. Makes more sense to keep your loyal customers. I like Quibids. Wish they would play fair. Not giving up yet.
By all means, spend more and keep playing so long as you're having fun and you are so desperate to escape. It reminds me of the joke about the fellow who joined a card game he knew to be rigged because it was "the only game in town."
The fix is in, end of story.
I love Qui Bids too...i read Qui bid 101 before i did anything and i tell you what...i am glad i did...i bought a bidpak for $27 dollars which is 45 bids...i one week i have won 30 bid vocher and over $100 in gift cards and i still have 47 bids...............my advice is to read Qui bid 101 first before you do anything...it teaches you how to properly bid! If you don't your gonna chase one item into the hole! So learn then bid...glad i did...Quibids Rocks
I totally agree with Terry V. i did the same things he is doing...you have to bid on bid paks too from time to time to keep you going...you have to replenish and not by buying more bids...NO...you wins bid paks...and then continue bidding on merchandise...they teach you this in 101 when you log in...i don't think anyone here is a loser at all...just got excited and did not read 101! It is defiantly not the site though...that is for sure
Ignore this person. Obviously, despite the scrambled appearance of her message(s), she's a company flack.
The simple truth is: it costs 60 cents to bid one cent. You can drive up the price of an item by 45 cents for a $27 bid pack. And, those cheap vouchers you so easily win? They will have a 'handling charge' added which may be several times your winning bid...
Qui Bid 101 is necessary for those who are not the sharpest pencils in the box but unlikely to save you from blowing your roll if you get auction fever...
Dude, thats like trying to take over for the pilot when you've never had a flying lesson. You should NEVER gamble money, when you don't know the system. It's your fault for not doing your research.
I tried Quibids. I found items that had few bidders Zero bids at the last minute. Guess what I would alway start getting "competition" bids. I I just watched these items no one bidded. Yes it is a scam. They force the bids up , up, up with fake bids. They drain your bids like a slot machine and then quickly post 2 bidder 2 cent wins to make you try again. The whole thing is a scam. I pretty sure someone wins once in a while to keep things looking on the up and up. But they use bots or fake bidders too.
Save you money and your time. It is rigged.
I just lost $25 trying to buy a netbook. The problem with the terms and conditions is Gross Under-representation. Simply put, if everyone understood they will lose their money if they don't have the winning bid - that levels the playing field - THEN go ahead and play until you win (hopefully). I asked for a $25 refund and was denied by QuiBids - so I'm contacting my State AG in the AM to look into this scam - they are very stupid and should have refunded my $ - I would have gone away because I am usually not a thorn or whistle blower but I'm damned upset at this company. I just bought a front row seat to the fight this time. JCR
Seriously? I can't believe how many paranoid people are out there that think the "fix" is in at QuiBids. I agree with the other posters that those of you that are so disgruntled and think that it's all a scam are just too lazy to do due diligence before jumping in and throwing your bids around! I just found out about this website after reading a blurb in Time Magazine. Intrigued, I came to the site very late at night and started poking around. BEFORE I even seriously considered purchasing a bid pack, I read everything in the 101 and FAQ sections. Then, I watched several auctions to get the "feel" for how they worked. No surprise that often times bids come in at the final second...people don't want to waste their bids and they want to know how much competition they have for an item.
So, after making my initial purchase of 50 bids for $30.00 (which got increased to 60 bids because I used a coupon code to get 10 free bids), I went directly to the first timers auctions and bid on a 25 bid voucher pack that was in the final seconds and had no bidders yet. I won that auction for 20 cents using only 1 bid. Including the $2.00 transaction fee, I got 25 bids for $2.20. This reduced my overall cost of bids to $.38 each.
Now I was ready to bid on something real. I admit that in the beginning I made some rookie mistakes (bidding on items too early thus wasting precious bids when there was no chance of an item selling for such a low price and not knowing when to stop -- "chasing the item into the ground"). I quickly learned for those mistakes and went on to win 4 auctions worth $40.00 (Two $10 Amazon GC and two $10 AMC Theater GC) for a total cost of $14.63 (includes # bids used at 38 cents each, final auction price and transaction fees).
Overall, I am just slightly ahead of my total outlay at the moment. However, I did waste quite a few bids initially which was money down the drain. Now, I know how to properly research how much items are going for and to pay attention to how many people are bidding etc. and I won't fall into those traps anymore. I'm looking forward to consistently winning gift cards for places I shop/use all the time (Amazon, Target, AMC etc) for pennies on the dollar.
I admit I'm still too intimidated to go after a bigger item!

Fake news, fake diet blogs, acai scams - Quibids are NOT a company I want to do business with!
I have to say, I agree with Kris S. You're an idiot. Don't blame the site for your inability to do remedial math.
I just won a kitchenaid artisan stand mixer (worth $300) with one bid at 96 CENTS. Yes you pay for shipping but to me that's a deal. I bought the 75 bids for $45 and then won 25 bids (used 9 bids) for 14 CENTS. So I now have 90 bids left...I don't think it's a scam...You need to know what YOU ARE DOING
FYI: I did this within an hour of signing up
Mike H's link posted above says it all. Go to: http://notmytribe.com/2010/penny-auctions-quibids-swipebids-et-al-are-more-than-scams-theyre-fraud-818056.html
It's a RIPP OFF people, keep your hard earned money and go to publix and buy a $10.00 gift card no shipping. Stop putting Millions in these unscrupulous peoples accounts. It's like paying a bill on the phone and still has to pay $5.00 to pay your bill. $5.00 times 20 million people, that's a 100 million dollars extra they put into their accounts. And people wonder why things are so tough .financially. Keep giving them your hard earned money.
I just discovered QuiBids a few hours ago. I haven't signed up, nor do I plan to. I did discover them though through a yahoo placed ad that took me to a "news" site that really had a sponsored ad by the company. That doesn't look good for them. I don't know if they are a scam, but if they are, it's a shame because they probably don't need to be in order to make money. The concept is a gold mine! After studying the site for a while, I sent some friends and family the following email. Read it.
Subject: Smartest People I May Have Ever Heard Of
Because they have managed to take every weakness a person has and turn it into gold. They might as well have their own printing press and print money.
It is a penny auction site. For example, they just sold a Target $200 gift card for $5.36! Sounds too good to be true, right? But they did it. They really did sell it for $5.36. How? That's the genius!
You have to pay them a $.60 bid fee every time you bid. So if you placed one bid on that $200 card and won it for $5.36, it really cost you $5.96. Still quite the bargain, right? But, that was assuming you only bid once. It is a penny auction and the bid increments by a penny every time someone bids. Some auctions appear to be .02 auctions too. Sounds good right? Starting at .01 and only going up .01 sounds like a benefit, but for them it is gold!!! That 5.36 winning bid means 536 bids were placed (they're a penny increment each bid, remember?) and at .60 per bid, they made $321.60 in bid fees. Plus the actual price of $5.36...but that's inconsequential! The bid fees are the profit. So starting at a penny and only going up a penny seems like a benefit to the bidders, but it just keeps people bidding longer driving up the bid fees the company earns. BTW, every time someone bids it adds time to the auction clock.
If that wasn't genius enough, go to the site and watch the bidding. You can see it realtime. You can see the clock clicking down to 3, 2, 1... and then suddenly 1, 2, 3, 4, or maybe 5 people suddenly bid. Cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching. They just made $3.00 and added time to the clock. It's compelling and makes you want to bid! You see a big screen TV sitting there at only $75.00 with 1 second on the clock. Makes you want to click the bid button right? Of course that $75.00 means 7500 bids and therefore $4500 in bid fees for them...for a $1200 TV.
If that isn't enough to make them geniuses, the topper is that one of the items they auction is a gift card from them for 15 bids. You can actually bid to win bids. A card for 15 bids is a $9.00 value. Guess how much I saw one sell for? Only $.48. Someone got a card worth $9.00 for only $.48! But that made the company $28.80!!! They sold $9.00 worth of value (that actually doesn't cost them a dime) for $28.80! They're printing their own money!
I am in awe of their genius!
I am amazed at how many people praise this site for the gift cards they are buying
and flame everyone else for not reading the 101.
If the extent of your purchases has amounted to nothing but gift cards and packs to bid more
then I think the only suckers here are them because they are now hooked...line, sinker and the whole bloody
kitchen sink which is so far down their greedy gullets they are choking for the next deal!
Lost $100 "gambling" on this stupid site. It is a scam. We are closing our account never to return.
I got a pop up for this scam. I went to check it out and the full page Consumer Review ad was a joke. It slammed eBay, saying the "workers" were on strike, and it was all about a few foreign sellers that didn't like the new fee structure.
I can't believe these guys have gotten away with this scam for this long. I can believe that all the posts on here telling us to "read and learn" are posers for the company to promo their crap and take advantage of people that are trying to get something for nothing, probably cuz they're broke to begin with.
In all fairness, it is a contest, not a straight auction. There is a definite strategy that you need to apply, not unlike gambling. That is why it is "winning", not just buying. Yes you can lose your money if you bid and lose. But if you win the saving can be great. Luck is clearly a factor. I recently spent $180 on 300 bids and bought the Canon Tsi for 38 bids. Was I lucky, YES! Do I expect this to be typical, NO! Was it worth the 45 minutes of my time? Will let you know; the camera arrrived today. Just MHO
I have to give my two cents here (no pun intended). This has actually been posted in a review...
I have been a member of this site for a few months and have won many items. Started of slow with smaller items then moved to the larger ticket items after gaining experience. And yes, it did cost a little in lost bids to gain that experience, but just about a month ago, I won a 2010 Samsung 46 inch, 3D LCD TV for $24.25! Shipping was 24.99. Amazon's white glove service delivered the television, set it up, and insured it worked. I did notice that most of the products I have won (approx 12) have been shipped from Amazon with Quibids on the label, but the box is Amazon and the address is their fulfillment center. This is really a legit operation.
Some folks may be disappointed initially with the site, but either you need to watch it for quite awhile, or start bidding on smaller items and work your way up. I am now over $1,000 ahead. Tell me where you can get that type of television, shipped and set up for less than $50.
This is in response of a negative comment...
You need to get all the facts straight. Yes, if you purchase bids thru their bid packs, they are $.60 each, however, if you win a bid voucher, they do not have any price associated with them. For example, if you win a 50 bid pack for $5, your actually cost per bid has been reduced to $.10 a bid. Many of the bidders on the site, myself included, will bid on these packs and win, and only buy bid packs if absolutely necessary.
Additionally, who cares what the total amount was bid? I am only concerned on what I bid and if I won. Personal example...I am the guy who won the 46" 3D LCD TV for 24.25 and used only 6 bids (were from a won bid voucher which ended up being $.07 each).
I am definitely a skeptic, but when it comes to this site, it is legit and has a unique way of generating revenue. Why be concerned with how much the site owners made? They are in business to make money. Remember, there is always a winner and in most all cases saved a lot of $$$ for the item. Unfortunately, we cannot all win all the time...I lost a substantial amount of money when I first started, however, I stayed with it, gained experience (you can do this just by continually watching the site without bidding) and now have become pretty efficient on when to bid and when to stop bidding and am way ahead.
If you call the state attorney general, I would be interested in hearing what they have to say. BTW, I am not associated with Quibids or any of their suppliers in any way...just an average working guy.
Quibids is not legit - the owner has a very shady past with fake blogs for acai weight loss scams and fake news websites:
http://notmytribe.com/2010/penny-auctions-quibids-swipebids-et-al-are-more-than-scams-theyre-fraud-818056.html
Mike, you may be right he has been shady in the past, but I have only had a positive experience with them...13 items including a 46 inch 3D LCD...
Quibids are also big time SPAMMERS:
"QuiBids has hooked up with Wise Choice Media (through WCM domain Vowely.net) to have them ‘market’ for QuiBids. That’s a polite way of saying that Wise Choice Media (through Vowely.net) is spamming the hell out of the internet right now on behalf of QuiBids. Even more interesting is that Vowely.net used a Ukraine server to send out the spam."
http://www.eiscams.com/penny-auctions/vowely-net-spamming-behalf-quibids/
I don't know that much about Quibids, but immediately I read about it I thought it is too good to be true and I always stay away from things like that. But I just decided to do a little research on it. Just from reading your comments I don't think I have to research anymore, I just don't want to have anything to do with quibids. Those of you that won now, this is your time and those that didn't win paid for those things for you, if you keep bidding you are going to start paying for others to win too. You are not going to keep winning. This is pure gambling. Where do you think quibids makes its money? From those that don't win also. When you go into something like this, when you win fine, when you don't, well don't complain. For me, I am not going to spend my time on anything like Quibids, but if you like gambling this is for you. This is what I think from the little I know about QuiBids. Thank you.
I dislike the site, but if you are smart about it you can win and get a good deal. You just have to stay out of the auctions for the big items like tvs and laptops in order to get your moneys worth. I haven't bid on an auction where the item was valued at over $200. So far I have won 5 out of the 7 items I have bid on. I know its a scam (business making at least a 15% profit in this economy) after watching so many auctions and doing the research, but if you want the lower cost items than you have a chance. I think you are just wasting your money bidding on a $2000 tv. I spent $60 on bids initially, won 2 bid vouchers, and have only spent money since on the price I won auctions at and shipping. Stay away from the gift cards as well, I ended up wasting a bunch of bids on one and then just ended up having to buy it outright with a $2,99 charge. The main thing is that you have to be willing to pay full price for the items you spend a lot of bids/money on, otherwise you will leave the site feeling ripped off. Yes, I said I dislike the site, but for my $60 I have gotten over $300 in value. If you really want an item for cheaper than advertised go to ebay, quibids is not for the faint of heart but if you are patient, not irrational, and realistic, you can get a good deal.
SO, in other words.. stick to EBAY!
I think if it were a scam there would be alot more complaints than what you see here!
HAHAHAHAHA I registered to this site just to tell you how illogical your review for this site was, but I guess I was beaten! Hopefully by now you understand that it isn't a scam, because scam means it's fake. The site isn't fake, but you must learn how to use it or it won't be worth the money.
They obviously have to make money somehow, and it's because of people like you who jump in before learning the ropes that makes it possible to buy a 50" flat screen for $50.
So, Thanks I guess!
Fake - that is what Quibids ARE - they use fake news sites to advertise and their CEO has promoted other scams using fake news websites (acai diet pill scams for example), fake testimonials are used for Quibids and they are also major league spammers:
http://www.eiscams.com/uncategorized/quibids-bid-at-your-own-risk/
http://www.eiscams.com/spam/quibids-spam-black-friday-apple-ipads-23-74/
http://www.eiscams.com/?s=quibids
Why would anyone in their right mind give their credit card details to and spend money on a site with such a dubious record of deception, highly misleading advertising and spam?
I just won a trip to Mars with Carmen Electra! It cost me only a penny!!!
it boils down to this, as long as there are idiots, such as the great many of you whining who are too focused on instant gratification, people like me will win big, spending rather few bids. You spend time not bids. Yes you cant just pop on and win an ipad in 5 minutes for 5 dollars. Its about timing, knowing whos bidding against you. its not ebay. it is designed to cater to the house and skilled bidders. go in with the assumption that you are going to pay retail for the product and be willing to spend the money. its the same principle, big bank eat little bank. my advice to anyone who wants to be on the winning side is sit back and watch how the biddings done before jumping in. each product has a specific time limit it runs to, you should only be bidding on long time items if you are wanting to decrease the amount of time you have to wait. the more you bid the item up the more time will come off until it gets to zero, then it resets at the rate described, usually 15 or 20 seconds. so everytime someone bids it refreshes the counter. let the idiots bid battle and run out of bids. they will be reluctant to buy more feeling they have already spent too much. almost like a pyramid scheme. people who have taken the time to figure it out feed off the morons who are to self absorbed to read and pay attention. so a warm thank you goes out for my 74 dollar 32 gb wifi ipad. i finally have a reason to appreciate the ignorant. you breed like rabits, inconvenience everyone around you with your absent minded idealogy and blatent retardation, yet allow me to buy electronics at a fraction of msrp. Priceless........
The gift card cost you $53.00 because of your own stupidity. Plain and simple.
Hey Ben,
If I am so stupid, why was I interviewed by the local news and I am a trusted community activist and you are nothing?
maybe because Ben works for quibids?? 551 bad reviews really can't be wrong...
QuiBids is a rip-off! When bidding on items you are permitted to go to the last second. If someone else bids it starts all over until the seller gets what they want. SO, AVOID WASTING YOUR MONEY WITH THOSE RIP-OFF ARTIST......................
Jeff D. Edwards. OMG!!! I thought, like sooo many others, this sounds GREAT! But was I ever so sadly reminded that you don't get something good for little to nothing. You know I always thought 20 seconds was 20 seconds, but OH NOOO it turns into almost 3 1/2hrs of the counter resetting and the bids climbing ever so higher and still not winning the item being auctioned off. When the bids, like you've heard, are $.60 and then you have the option to buy for the balance of the MSRP I would rather drive myself to a store, purchase an item and drive it home and use it then and not have to pay to have it shipped to me and wait on it to arrive. Take my advice along with all the others that have been taken in by this haox and stick with other auction sites like EBAY or AMAZON... Jeff
I'm really hooked on this site and I'm having a terrible time stopping...it is gambling even though you can buy the items. If you buy them, you lose money because they charge you for shipping and handling when there is no shipping and handling for $2.00 on a gift card! It also takes very long to receive the cards. One time, it took two weeks and I overdrew my account because I had no money to pay for anything.
I need help with this site..............can't stop.
de-activate it!
Uh.... Can we say dumb blonde here? The minute you saw something on a tv commercial after 11pm on a cable channel should have been your first clue... "Duh" 2nd Anyone or company that advertises you can get a "Mac Pro" laptop for 42.00 bucks should slap you and your dark roots with some common sense even after the bleach on you hair is rinsed. But to actually buy 25.00 dollars worth of packet of bids a 2nd time for 15.00 dollar itunes card you actually need to have a air hose permanently attached to your head..... Oh my god it never amazes me the stupidity of people when they get notion they are going to get something for nothing "Better known as the word GREED" So lets just say you got poetic justice for thinking you were going to get something for next to nothing. "Oh but wait there's plenty of anonymous Quebids employees pretending to be fictional faceless entities claiming that its not a scam site so their for it must not be a scam right...? Right...... Man how dumb are people...
rasterman r. people like you are the reason why I don't mess with these websites. You think people are being stupid when they have a gambling addiction. I know I need help but with your attitude, I know you do too!
This is someone giving me advice or opinion that changed the subject of being a chump into believing a site like this is a real auction site or scam to being a "Gambling" excuse? OMG.... On one note I will agree with you that do need help but I do not believe its the help you think you need....
I HAVE NEVER BEEB RIPPED OFF SO SMOOTHLY IN MY LIFE...THEY GAVEE ME OVER 6 OPPORTUNITY TO BUY BIDS..I SPENT MORE THE $100 AND I WON A 15 GIFT CARD..CRAP PLACE
Geezus! How dumb are people spend 100 dollars to buy a 15 dollar gift card! Are you nuts? At what point after spending 20 dollars did you think it was a viable value of your money?? for a 15 dollar item??? Unbelievable!
At the beginning they make it the most easiest posible for the new bidders if you bother to read all. I was excited and sent my referral link to all my friends. But things got complicated and trying to get more bids I lost all my bids. I stubbornly but another pack, and lost. What am I doing wrong? I saw people winning and winning. I bought another pack and I was so scared to bid by now that I lost, lost, lost again. I gave up and quited for ever. Someone actually click at my referral link and bought a pack and I got 25 free voucher bids + they gave me some free ones for earn archivements. So I had about 34 voucher bids. I started bidding the free bids. I stupidly thought I could win the 250 voucher bid pack and entrer an auction that already was worth $14.27. I put 25 bids in the bidomatic and 8 bids later I won it. Now I was bid vouchers rich!!!. Again I was so stupid to think that I actually could win a 16gb iPad and set 25 bids in the bidomatic. Turned of the computer and when I came back I had won it with 14 bids!!! I cost me to get it home about $23.00, I can't remember exactly. Again trying to get more bids I end losing it all. At least I got all my loses back with the big winning but it is not easy to win. Today I buy small packs at $27.00 for 45 real bids and bid in things I am planning to buy. If I ever end with extra bids left I do gamble those bids no luck till now.. Mostly I try to get even. It is shopping/gamblin both and a huge amount of time lost. It is very entertaining and you can get addicted to it. I will not permit my kids to bid and do not recomen it unless you are looking for entertainment and have a lot of time to waste. You only need $27.00 dollars to start, do not buy a bigger pack each bid cost $0.60 cents regardless. Bought bids can be used to buy, voucher bids can be use to gamble. Read all big print,There is not small print in here, everything is clear and open and secure. This is my refferal link you can click it and go there if you want to: http://www.quibids.com/?refer=1716848
Hey sorry you guys dont know what your doing and lost your money. In the last 2 days I won a 55 led tv for 80 bucks and a 200 wm giftcard for 5.You cant go all in without a plan and expect to win.
No. This site is a scam. SCAM SCAM SCAM! Every product I was bidding on went super high, then a product right behind it would go for an eighth of a price... Do not waste one penny. If it sounds too good to be true... THEN IT IS! They hire bidders. You lose money buying their dumb bids... Stay away!
I too fell for it and I actually won a $25 gift card for $0.05 plus shipping and handling! The downside is that I have yet to receive it and its been over four months and everytime I try to get a hold of them I get an automated answer... I spent like $80-100 if not more on this website. Total WASTE and a COMPLETE SCAM!!!!
I got on there too I won a gift card but it was E-mailed to me instead of physical mail maybe that's what happened to yours?
I do agree with you , its easy to get sucked in thinking your going to get a great deal, and finding out your just being a gullable fool, Im so damn sick of getting ripped off by greedy SOBs , just once I would like to find a honest company that can be trusted.
If this is the big scam you all say then explain my TV and 200 gift card?
ouch! thanks for the info
As I suspected, too good to be true.
You can't just "mindlessly" bid on items. There is some strategy related to this as well. If you just "buy bids" and then start placing bids, you're going to over pay for items. Like anything else, if you don't do your research first, and then learn the process, you're just going to end up screwing yourself.
I strongly believe this is a rip of, I have purchased over $75.00 bids and never win anything, I have made up of minds, I'm staying out of this website, to me this more or less gambling.
SCAM SCAM SCAM, just like every other piece of pop up crap you see on the internet, they claim to be better than ebay, well Im not a big ebay shopper but I'll tell you ebay is not time wasted as this crap was. These people need to be shut down for their loophole SCAM their pulling on on the consumer, STAY AWAY AND DONT WASTE YOU MONEY
They steal money. I was on the site from 12 to 4pm on Saturday. Monitored every gift card auction. Today they say someone won a $100 Walmart gift certificate for 6 cents at 2PM on Saturday. Bull$#*!. I was watching. Never happened. They made it up so the suckers bid early and often on high priced items. Only way site makes money. They are liars and thieves. They use bots. I hope they rot in hell. I really do.
JBSilver. What people don't realize is that if you count the money you spent on buying bids plus what "your cost" and shipping and handling is you'll find you have spent way more than you thought for your item. I had a friend who I went to the casino with. She won $1200. and she bragged about here winnings all the way home. What she didn't tell anyone was she had spent $2500. that night. Meaning she was actually in the hole for $1300. I won a few items on quibids. But I didn't make up for the money I spent on bids. Trust me you lose.
This is worst site i ever encountered and the way charge you is wearied..
The biggest scam in the world. Take an item which lists for $100. The bidding runs up to $25. That means 250 people bid one cent higher (or so they think) then multiply that by .60 cents per bid and that comes to $150 plus the $25 + handling and shipping- lets say $10. That means the slime buckets get $185 for a $100 list item. Let's say the item cost the slime buckets $50. That's a profit of $135. I can visualize these MF's sitting in an office in Oklahoma laughing at the schmucks bidding. What a laugh slime buckets. May you rot in hell!!!!
First of all, if the item ended up selling for $25 that means 2500 bids (25 divided by .01) were placed. At 60 cents per bid the item ends up selling for 2500 x .60 or $1500. Yes, they end up making a ton of money, but, on the other side, some people do manage to purchase items at a substantial discount. You have to be smart about the bidding, that is knowing how many bids you are using plus what the item ultimately sells for. For instance, I know people who have paid $10 for an iPod that cost $600. It' s not impossible, you just have to be patient and learn how to bid.
They say they are listed with the BBB is anybody writing to them to complain? I did.
hahahaha you're an idiot. I watched an advertisement today on Fox channel, and I immediately knew it was a scam targeted at idiots like you. Next time you see something on TV, how about you GOOGLE it first? ... geez unintelligent people never cease to annoy me...
Ethan, you are right about googling things first. Best to type in "website + review" in this case google quibids review and a whole mess of badness pops up.
Buyer Beware with qui bids...
Well it's pretty legit ..it was all over the news in texas.. my cousin won something very cheap from the site..
Quibids is a scam. To win somethings you will pay more then its price by the other auctions. Second you will never win over 50$ because they have own groups who will not let you win any auction and they use different names in the same big auction to let you think that somebody go somebody come and win.
you will not have any chance to win if you do not believe that you will lose your money, their policy is to suck all the money of the all the participated members. You can win 10,25,and 50$ and any voucher bids but u will never win 100$ or more and you will pay more then what you will win
Absolute scam!!!!customer service pathetic!
Ive won alot of items on quibids. 2 item over 200.00 You have to sit and watch sometimes for along time. Alot of items worth 50 or 60dollars, Ive won.
I just checked into this-"thought" about it-did not enter ANYTHING!-entered "not my cup of tea" and hit "deactivate"-was checking my bank account about 15 minutes later and found this freakin company took $60.00 from my flippin account which caused an overdraft and of course there are no phone numbers for me to call and have a pleasant conversation with!!!! in talking to my banker I willl be signing fraud against them to have this put this back in my account
You guys must be really stupid to play in this game. Take a math. 1 cent on 1000 bids just $10 and $600 of spending. This is 1 to 60 game.
I was suckered in.. didn't read any where it costs $60 to register.. I agree bots are used.. and no way of knowing when the auction ends
i win things all the time and more than 50 dollars if you are stupid enought to think you can get something for a few dollars they dererve your money. If you expect to pay retail you will always win it for less. Do your homework buy the bids and quit whining when you think you can actually get something for nothing!! I bid almost every day and win my limit (3) a day almost every day. I have won jewelry, oakley sunglasses, itunes gift cards, home depot gift cards, outback steakhouse and a nice automatic wine opener<> spent less than a couple hundred have won close to four hundred with shipping !!! im not trying anything big yet but when i need a TV or something i will bid to win and will pay way less than retail. <>YOU HAVE TO SPEND SOME MONEY TO SAVE MONEY HELLO <> cant expect to get something for nothing, and of course the site makes a lot of money. beginners are dumb and bid and bid to lose it to a more experienced bidder who knows to come in at the end!! if people read the quibids 101 they would realize how it works!!!
You must be a part of this dam company, i lost several hundreds dollars even i win it did not go through this Quibids is a scam. i will make sure this dam company shut down and get criminal charges against these dam cheaters.
um i'm sure it was just an honest mistake, but someone a while back wrote that an item for $25.00 would be 250 bids.. it would be be 2,500 bids of a penny each, not 250.. and each of these 2500 bids gained quibids $0.60 each, which comes out to $1,500 for a $25.00 item, and that's not even including the $25 PLUS shipping FOR the actual item. the only way you could possibly get anything at a decent price on this site is to do an INSANE amount of research on the types of items, and specific brand of item(s) you want to buy, and how much other auctions have gone for. note that there can be a HUGE variance here. a plasma TV can sell for $200 OR $2,000, the SAME EXACT ONE! and, like many ppl have suggested, i believe they do use bots in order to prevent customers from actually winning items at very low prices, enticing them to put in "just that one more bid." just my 2 cents, but i much prefer half.com, ebay, and amazon. if you get a faulty product, you are almost ALWAYS protected.
Owner of Quibids has a history of deceptive advertising and involved in promoting alleged scams:

http://www.pennyauctionwatch.com/2010/06/quibids-ceo-allegedly-behind-misleading-weight-loss-marketing-testimonial-sites/
its great... another good one i found is ibid4mc.com . customer service is great.. shipping is quick... its not too crowded.... you actually have a chance to win
you must work for these peopel to give this kind of feedback.. i dont believe yo unor does anyoen else.. do you think we readers here are that naive to beleive your BS.. you are a employee of this scam setup and no one wins with this company.. get real bird brain
Absolute scam ! They would not let you adjust bids while buying their own bids voucher. Even though the original bids were actually paid for - At 60 cents per bid.
And it is really hard to win anything.
Here is a shocker -
I bid on two different 50 bids voucher, supposedly worth $30, and each bid went to 5.5+ ! That means, that auction was worth 550 X .6 = $330 for a $30 voucher for JUST quibids.com Bids - 1000% more than the actual price !! If this is not scamming consumers, I don't know what else is.
Thanks to all these reviews to know to keep away from these guys. I have seen their ads on local TV here and was tempted to check it out but I thought I'd come here first and see what info there was. So glad I did. Thank you all.
Since this is the leading Quibids review according to Sitejabber, I am posting this comment here. Quibids has undergone an audit by Grant Thornton, a top audit firm. It has confirmed what I have been saying all along - that although it is like a gamble, it is most definitely not a scam. See the link below for the audit report.
http://www.pennyauctionwatch.com/2011/08/quibids-holdings-llc-audit-management-report/
From the audit report:
"Quibids maintains effective controls to provide reasonable assurance that bids are placed by bona fide users and does not manipulate the bidding process to inflate the bid price or affect who wins the auction (no use of bots, shill bidding, or bidding by employees).
Quibids maintains effective controls to provide reasonable assurance that winning auctions and “Buy Now” orders are fulfilled (i.e. shipped).”
Original complaint - I am going to do whatever is necessary to discourage people from participating in this "god awful" money grabbing deceitful terrible site. The people who operate this site should be ashamed of themselves.
Response:
Hi Clay -
I am sorry this has been your impression of the website. We try to make our site as transparent as possible. For this reason we created the "QuiBids 101" section of the website which thoroughly describes our business model; and what we would consider to be realistic expectations for our customers to have, as well as the amount of profit / loss the company actually makes with this business model. I would like to recommend that you read the articles in the QuiBids 101 section, specifically the articles in the section titled, “Our Auction Model Explained”. It is very possible to win on our site. Since we launched in October 2009, we have had thousands of winners on our site. We have even had a large number of people max out their win limits for a given month. Here at QuiBids we strive to ensure that the customers who participate in our auctions have a great time and experience the fun of winning items at really low prices. It is not, however, realistic to assume that a $27 or $45 bid pack will likely lead to winning a $200+ item on our site, like a MacBook or PS3. While this does happen all the time, it is not a good expectation to have. I hope this clears up some of your concerns and helps to make our site clear. Please let us know of any suggestions you might have in regards to ways that we can further improve upon our website.
Thank you for your interest in QuiBids and have a wonderful day!
Sincerely,
Lauren

My Response:
Who said anything about winning a MacBook or PS3??? How about a 15 or 25 bid pack? Oh I won on your "site" too.. I just cost 4 or 5 times what the items were worth. You are very well aware of what the business plan is... Send a "win" message out and then have your customers buy bids after bids after bids. I won two items right out of the gate... a coffee cup holder and a beards trimmer. Never won (or even came close to winning another item... not even the "bid packages") I also read your (very requisite) Quibids 101. Must I remind you that if you didn't have that type of disclaimer on site, you would face law suits upon law suits. I work as a Union arbitration specialist, and I would love to expose a "legal loop hole" in your site.. I feel so very sorry for the people you dupe, the elderly, and the less fortunate looking for a break. Once again, you should be morally ashamed. Oh, yeah the requisite legal disclaimer you call Quibids 101; that will only go so far. Take a look on YouTube; I truly wish I had looked there first. Like I said in an earlier correspondence, I travel this wonderful country representing those who cannot represent themselves... I will absolutely be speaking of the perils and pitfalls of your god awful site at every speaking engagement I attend. I would love a refund on the original $60+ as well as the additional $45+, but I am not expecting one.
Take care
I am trying to figure out exactly what Clay's point is. I count a total of zero facts in his complaint. It seems his only complaint is that he didn't come out ahead.
You Melinda are an idiot...it's a penny auction site, not rocket surgery...it's a legitimate site for any of you curious I have won a handful of auctions with absolutely no remorse in my decision making. The simple fact is you have got to be smarter than a 5th grader. I recently won a Kalorik Weight Scale valued @ $64.99...for .07 cents, if you take into account I bought 100 bids for $60.00, and I was "smart" enough not to get suckered into a bidding war with another idiot...my bids cost me .61 cents each time i click the bid button...I bid on this item once, and won...counting my .61cent bid and the .07 cost, along with $9.99 shipping and handling, my total investment came to $10.67...you hafta be an absolute moron to buy bids and then just hap hazardly start bidding away thinking you're the only one interested in that item...I don't feel one bit of sympathy for the undereducated shallow end gene pool swimmers...if it weren't for you window lickers I wouldn't have anything to laugh about
you Kevin, are an $#*!. The chances of winning an item by bidding on it once are slim to none. You've gotta have a literal treasure trove of bids to even have a chance at a win. The only way to quibid is to win vouchers & collect & collect them before bidding on the item you want. Then, you've gotta wait hours & hours for the timer to come down. Many people don't understand that it's an investment....your pay for bids in exchange for the opportunity to win something at a very low cost. Melinda, just be careful of the amount of money that you spend on buying bids, there's no guarantee that you'll win an auction. If you use all the bids that you've paid for & don't win, you've lost that money & must pay for more bids or win a voucher.
Agreed with Ben 100%. You paid $53.00 because you were an anxious silly goose. Use a little caution and brains next time. And as far as being interviewed by the local news, I feel REALLY bad for you if that's what your claim to fame is.
Ohh! Really, How many wins on lottery? Do you understand the logic of Quibid? you saw ohh! $2000 item, he just won for $100. but what was bid price? Let say if, it is $500 some than count this way. 50000 bids. 50000 bids X 60 cents per bid = 3000000 cents/100 = $30000 - $2000 product value = $28000 Quibids profit. + bid amount and shipping. 50000 bids and 10 - 15 bidders. each bid 60 cent. I don't think each one had put less than $200 in auction for $2000 worth stuff. you pay money and someone else win? Let me tell you one thing, If you put 1 penny than human nature will not let it go. You will never give up until your capacity is down. Better go to Vegas if you have that luck. You will make more rather than ripping of fellow customer. Wake up! No one undersell. There is no magic. odds are very fluctuating. Even if I am going to win today I will put same amount of money tomorrow. Greediness never left any one. All days are not same. Try to look at the big picture. Who knows out of those 10-15 bidder one of the bidder belongs to Quibid it self. As I told the logic to set certain value with no loss business, This is perfect strategy. Poor Bidders thinks I am going to win but just that bidder's purpose is to make you to bid until it covers cost and if he/she wins than product is in the home and it will be again in next auction and whatever bids happens that's money. Even if some one is not anxious than what he/she can do to save from this trap.
Melinda I'm with you I feel like I was ripped off bid time. I lost $200.00 and got NOTHING. Dhaval P you can bid all you want they won't get anymore of my money. And yes I prefer to do the lottery. At least some of that money is going for schools and such. Not in some jerks pocket.
SAY AWAY FROM QUIBIDS ITS A RIP OFF!
I have won enough stuff that I am up over $1000. But you have to do your homework.. See where the auctions have ended in the past and only bid on something that you want to use the buy it now feature if you dont win. People whine because they dont win a 200 dollar item for 45 bucks. Get real the site even gives tips on winning that you both obviously did not follow. Its not a scam I get all the stuff and have got some great deals.
I won a $15 Wal-Mart gift card for $2.60 including the ONE bid that i used to win it
QuiBids operates their business like a lottery, therefore they need to tell people the truth about their chances of winning -- which are slim to none.
Greed. You need to ask yourselves, do you really need any of the crap that you're being brainwashed you do. Instead of looking for mental stimulation from a shiny little box with flashing screens try looking into your own head for a stimulating idea.
Oh wait a minute, do we still have our "own" heads? Maybe we need to bid on one....
This site has a LOT of cool stuff...but they are often out of sizes. I have put requests in for things when they come back into stock, but so far that has never happened. The few items I have purchased there were quite nice, even if the shipping is a bit steep. I recommend this site to woman who are plus size but don't want to wear potato sacks. Also, I have noticed that if you give an item a negative review, they do not publish it...so everything is skewed to their benefit, so I think it is good to be aware of this.
Will check it out!! I am getting sick of lane bryant anyways. Do you know if they have any good coupon codes?
OK.... this is too strange, Tracy. I just got an email saying I had a new comment and this is the page it led me to. I don't remember seeing this comment, but it says it is SEVEN MONTHS OLD? I have wanted to order a few more from them, but they are ALWAYS out of my size. Because I am a size 14-16, I'm not super huge, but those do seem to be the most popular sizes. I would say, if you are really into them, check at least once a week. Do you are a store called "Torrid" near you? A friend turned me onto them and sometimes they have cute stuff. It never hurts to Google "coupon codes OneStopPlus"... occasionally I have found free shipping over $50 and before I ever leave a shopping cat, I do search for codes. You just never know what wil pop up. Happy shopping!

Jeremy G. Eish. That's kind of scary.
