I understand Groupon's appeal to business: offer one incredible deal (yes, you may lose some money at first), but build on that visit to create a desire for your customer to return. If you give lousy service, they will not return and you did not make money. If you give great service, you have a repeat customer who will make up for the initial cost through repeat business. Groupons are best for restaurants, manicures, etc - services that are repeated. Groupon even has a calculator for businesses to use to see if they will have ROI. I have been able to try out many businesses with Groupon - some good, some poor. The good ones I go back to, the poor ones I am glad I only spent the groupon price. Either way - I'm all good.
