I was a little jaded joining Odesk after a few really hideous experiences working through another online employment company. What a surprise - I have met some of the best clients and never had a negative experience.

Like another reviewer mentioned, they have checks and balances in place to protect both employers and online workers and I've never had an issue getting paid.

I would highly recommend this site.

I'm kinda "Meh" about Etsy. There is so much just crap that people claim is handmade that I can tell is being pumped out of a factory oversees.
I have bought two things from Etsy and one was great and arrived and the other one the seller closed their shop and Etsy pretty much told me, "Oh well sorry no refund".

I needed an artwork framed and sent on a rush for my sister's birthday.
The owner was knowledgeable, helped my indecisive self pick out a frame that totally rocked and let me know when my gift was shipped. My sister is thrilled and I'll definitely be back.
