This is a unique website that can be used as both a blogging, dating or social networking site. I used it to blog about topics related to Christianity but I did manage to meet one woman on there who was in my friends list.

Here is a quick review of this site from my own personal experience. The site is set up good and allows hmail texting formats. The site allows people to post many quality pictures and has a decent profile set-up. People who are not members of this site can't look at your profiles but they can look at your blogs and posts. You can make your profile private or limit who can look at it.

The negatives here is the userbase itself which is very conservative and has very strong orthodox conservative Christian leanings so if you're a liberal Christian or a member of a more liberal denomination you will have a rough time on here. Catholics don't seem to exist on there either (I consider Catholics to be Christians). There are more liberal and moderate Christians on there but most of them people (wisely) stay out of the political/religious leaning blogs. I would also suggest avoiding to discuss scientific issues if you're a more open minded Christian such as evolution, the Big Bang Theory, global warming, etc if you plan on landing a potential date on there. If you're a conservative Christian then this is the site for you.

I always ask everone to take my reviews with a grain of salt since I only rate websites by my own personal experiences and Chemistry is no exception here.

There is not much I can say about it during the 3 months I've tried it. Your matches are even more limited than on eharmony and their 'expert' dating quiz is suspect to me like pretty much all online dating compatability quizes/surveys. To be honest I had better luck just sitting at a bar minding my own business or just being at work than I did on both Chemistry and Match.com. Maybe Chemistry will work for whoever is reading this I don't know.

I only tried 3 different dating sites and I became a member of this one after my dismal experiences on both chemistry and match. Like I have said before these are my own personal experiences. The negatives to me were the compatability system and the inactive profiles sent to you. Their compatability quiz is suspect to me and receiving inactive profiles is not cool. Outside of the usual ups and downs that come along with the internet dating world I can't say anything more negative outside of those two issues.

The positives to me about this site was the fact that you had to work with the matches you were given. Many may not agree with me on this one but it ensured that I didn't come across riff raff and it also ensured that BOTH the men and women had to actually work equally as hard on there to land their match, unlike on match.com. Unfortunately I didn't get any quality matches that were within my range so I bumped the distance up a bit. I met a few decent women that were highly compatable with me but in the end the distance was just too much since I'm not looking to relocate and I don't expect a woman to do that for me as well. In the end it was the only dating site I would even consider trying again.

I tried a 6 month premium membership on there and these were MY personal experiences and the reasons why I rated it so low. I'll get the positives over with first: 1. The site is easy to navigate. 2. The site offers alot of extras not found on other dating sites. 3. There are a large amount of people on there. Unfortunately this is all the positives I could find about it.

Here are the negatives from my own personal experience: 1. There is a large userbase but many are not paying members and I suspect there are many phony accounts as well. 2. I suspect that there are many more men than women on there because with my premium membership I had an 'email read' function which told me if my messages were even opened yet or not and out of dozens of emails sent out by me not even one of them were read. This tells me there are either many more men than women on there and/or there are many aggressive alphamailers on there that send hundreds of emails out a day to any woman without even looking at their profiles. 3. The site will tell you that a person is interested in you because they merely looked at your profiles, so if you respond you don't get nothing back anyways. 4. The women seem hesitant to do anything on there such as sending out a message first (I did get them from what I suspected to be spammers though) wink or even hit the interest button. 5. Many of the profiles I did go through actually lashed out at men! Like the universe should automatically send them the guy of their dreams without putting in the work themselves to try to get that guy.

All in all from my experience the odds are against you if you're a guy on there. Those odds go down even greater with how far below the 6ft mark your height is and how low your salary is. I'm not a bad looking guy by a longshot, I have a fair paying respectful career, I know how to fill a profile out, I looked at profiles before sending a message out and I'm average height (not short) and in good shape. My few photos were nice too. From my experience match is nothing more than a candyshop where most of the women post tons of pictures up of themselves just waiting to be brought. Even though many men have success on there because of the large numbers alone don't count on yourself being one of them. Perhaps if you enjoy sending tons of emails out knowing that if you don't nothing will happen then this might be the site for you. There were better dating sites out there that I've tried when compared to match.

I was a member of this website for about 9 months and it was the site I left before joining sodahead. All in all it is not a bad website and the userbase is alot more intelligent than that of sodahead. Unlike sodahead however politics is not front and center of the discussions on there. This site is more geared towards philosophical, science and asking other users for help with a problem. The site is full of both average people and doctors, physicists, cancer researchers, teachers, college professors, etc. This userbase on this site is very secular (mostly atheists) and leans to the left politically. This site, unlike sodahead is specifically designed to engage people into quality debates and/or discussions so there is no blocking function, downraves/thumbs down, posting media and fancy profile set ups. Fluther does have quality moderators that are VERY strict about name calling and harassing, trolling and spam.

Personally my only beef with fluther is the userbase itself. There is little variation unlike sodahead. The fluther userbase is heavily atheistic, materialistic, orthodox and leans very far left. As a result of this it is very difficult to land fair discussions about paranormal phenomena, spirituality, alternative treatment protocols (chiropractic, accupuncture, experimental cancer treatments, etc) and anything else not deemed as 'orthodox' or 'real' science. Just like sodahead the userbase on here is fairly prejediced against those who don't hold their pro vegan, pro feminist, atheistic and pro 'orthodox' views so do not expect massive amounts of support, friends or points if you have dissenting views from this userbase as well.

I was a member of sodahead for nearly a year and if I had to rate it I would say it is ok. The site itself is set up good with alot of extras that many other blogging sites don't have but with that comes a cost: quality debate. One example of this is their 'add media' function which allows many airheads the ability to avoid strong debate by posting stupid picture responses. I do like the fact that the downrave function was eliminated though. They allow a blocking function but this option destroys any ability to engage in quality debates and also helps to skew poll results by allowing the far-right to block users they know who have dissenting political views from themselves.

The biggest problem of all you will deal with on there is the userbase itself combined with the fact that sodahead's managment leans pretty far to the right. I'm a Paul/Johnson supporting libertarian but yet I've been called all types of vile names by the far-right userbase on there. The neocon userbase on there is mentally immature and it shows for they will throw all types of political terms around that they realistically do not know the meanings of such as commie, libby, etc. The lack of ability to engage in any quality debate is the biggest downfall of this site since their userbase leans far-right with low IQ's who are quick to block any dissenting opinions and users.

Here is the quick rundown on SH:

1. The managment leans far-right so most 'hot' topics on the front page will lean very far right.
2. There is a blocking function which the majority far-right userbase uses to their full advantage to skew poll results and block dissenting opinions.
3. The far-right creates their own private groups where they communicate with each other to 'swarm' a poll result or top opinion in their favor by using massive raves.
4. There are many 'sock accounts' (illegal multiple accounts by the same user) created by the far-right to pose as other people such as a 17 year old cancer stricken girl (who happens to lean very far-right) to lash the nastiest attacks on people. This way the socks get deactivated and the neocons main account in which they hold in high regards stays intact.
5. The userbase is very far-right and ANY dissenting opinions or political leanings such as libertarian, liberal, moderate, etc gets you labled as an American hating commie. This name calling is very prevailent throughout the website.
6. The userbase is also very immature, far-right and close minded. There are a few decent people on the site but most do not want to engage in debating or hearing different opinions, they only want to hear more echo chamber rants that agree with themselves. Also, the userbase on there has very little debating ability so they tend to resort to name calling and all of the other tactics I've mentioned above. If you are not very far-right leaning you will need to be very strong to survive on there!
