Like a fool, I signed up for Events & Adventures in Tampa right after my divorce. I was pressured by the sales people and one of their main criteria for accepting me as a member was that I was employed and made a certain level of income. They make a big point to tell you they only accept employed professionals. After about a year, I was laid off of my job. I tried to quit A&E because I could no longer afford the monthly membership fee (I have 2 teenagers and am living only on unemployment and child support--I sure as heck am not going to send them what little money I have now!) and they told me I couldn't quit and they wouldn't let me out of my contract unless I move somewhere they don't have an office or get married. This is so wrong. So, I'm trying to pay rent, insurance, utilities, gas for my car, and feed my kids on less than $3000 a month and I'm supposed to send them $30 a month? I don't think so. I only went to one event--a very lame volleyball night. So basically they scammed me for a couple thousand dollars and I got about 3 hrs of volleyball. Don't be sucked into their high pressure sales pitch. You can meet more people at Starbucks and in the grocery store for free!
