It's an unfortunate aspect of our modern time that a show like Court TV (owned by Scripts Co.), decides to take one of the most important parts of American life, our judiciary system, and turn it into a reality show.
To be allowed into a courtroom to report on the proceedings should be treated as a privilege. Instead, Court TV is being allowed to turn those proceedings into a drama fest by having the hosts use incendiary language that evokes; anger, outrage, lack of empathy, etc. towards defendants.
We shouldn't allow ourselves to be hoodwinked by the 'scripted' reality-show-nature of Court TV and its hosts. While many of their 'experts' do seem to have a substantial level of expertise, Court TV producers are well aware of how each one of the hosts will comment and illicit more drama from their viewers. This is how reality shows are produced!
Sadly, reading comments on Court TV's social media pages, proves that Court TV producers are getting the exact response they intend to, a Jerry Springer-esque circus of people who are probably shouting at their screen, "Burn her, burn her." And like a terrible accident on the side of the road, few will turn away. It's up to us as citizens to decide where we will put our time, energy and money.
