On the 20th July 09 I ordered a Sony BRAVIA LCD television, model No. KDL40W4000 from www.iwantthatgift.co.uk. They were advertising that particular model at £639-99 + £9-99 postage & packing.
I paid the full price of £649-98 via PayPal, who passed the money on to 'I Want that Gift', (Topkstock Hinckley Ltd.
After receiving no communication from this company, and no television being delivered, I started phoning and
e-mailing them. I made many futile attempts to speak to someone in charge, but was always told that someone would phone me back. No one ever did. On the 26th August, I did receive a Sony BRAVIA television, but the model was the KDL-40S5600, not the KDL40W4000 which I wanted, had ordered and paid for. (The reason I specifically wanted the KDL-40W4000 was because it had been awarded the 'Best 40" LCD television, 2008/9 by 'Which Plasma & LCD TV' magazine (issue 58). For this very reason I wasn't interested in any other model). I contacted them, explained their error. I was told to send it back and they would dispatch the correct one to me. On the 28th August, at my own expense, I returned the package (unopened), and they received it on the 1st September.
Since that date I have tried to get my money back via my credit card company, but they refuse to pay because the transaction was between four parties- me, the credit card company, PayPal, and Topstock Hinckley Ltd. This is their 'get out'. I tried to get my money back via the PayPal Resolution Centre, but although they- 'decided in my favour', they explained how they were unable to recover any funds from the seller's account. I have made many attempts to get my money back directly from Topstock Hinckley Ltd, but to no avail. They have ignored my e-mails, phone calls and even my letters sent by recorded delivery. They have the cheek to be still advertising the KDL40W4000 which I ordered and paid for ten weeks ago. This model has not been off their web site since the day I ordered mine.
