I purchased a gift box from scancafe.com and loaded it up with some precious wedding negatives and other irreplaceable negatives. The process was super-easy and we were really happy with the scans (and negatives) that we got back. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because of the time it takes. Seemed to take well over a month to get anything back from them. I assume they send the scan jobs overseas someplace where that labor-intensive work is farmed out, but I don't know. What I do know, is that it takes a really long time for the turnaround.

I've had great experiences with some overstock.com items and prices, and also a few other times where items arrived broken or were not worth the price. I'm happy to report, though, that the overstock customer service has been fantastic every time and they have always been willing and happy to make sure I've been satisfied with an item.

I have been using Newegg for electronic purchases since 2001. Newegg has low prices, is consistently fast, and is easy to work with. I get pretty much all of the computer parts I need to build computers or keep computers running here. Many years ago they built the free 2-day shipping cost into the price of the item, these days they charge separate for shipping like everyone else. Also, these days it seems they have some stiff competition from Amazon on pricing for things, but when you buy through Amazon, you are sometimes buying from other companies. Newegg is always solid and is always worth an extra couple dollars for the piece of mind. Plus, the product reviews on Newegg behind most all of their items are unbiased and are heads above the product reviews anywhere else.

I bought a watch from watchismo.com in 2011. It did not work. The owner of Watchismo told me to take it to a watch repairman and he would pay for the fix. The repair shop wasn't able to fix it. The owner then asked me to send it back and he would send another one. I sent it back but asked for a full refund instead (partly because the whole experience seemed shady to me, and partly because I wasn't so sure the watch was genuine). He refused and then I was out the cost of the repair, the cost of shipping, and all of the time and hassle. I spoke with the owner several times on the phone - he got ruder and ruder with each conversation. Eventually I had to work with my credit card company and pay pal to stop payment.
