Goldstar.com

Goldstar is a great resource for discounts to local events, shows, tours, you name it. Tickets on Goldstar are usually much cheaper than normal prices. I also think the website itself is well done...it's easy to use, straightforward, and well-designed. Love it~

I use this site mainly for its excellent compilation of news and articles related to the urban planning, design, and development fields. Their best service is the daily email newsletter, which gives you headlines and one-liners from some of the most important articles relating to planning each day. You can also customize the news to your location and area of interest. Definitely helps me stay current, and they also have original material such as op-eds, reviews, interviews, etc. which I always find interesting. Also leans toward the progressive side, which is a plus. :)

Kayak.com

Great one-stop site to compare travel deals from several online sources. FYI, kayak.com and sidestep.com are the same company now. Sitejabber, is there a way to combine the profile pages for these sites?

Sf.funcheap.com

Cheap. Fun. SF. The name says it all. I enjoy all three, especially in the current economy. The website's own description puts it the best way: "Going out and having fun in San Francisco is just too expensive. That's why we started funcheapSF. A free website where cheap bastards like ourselves get together to share tips and events going on in the coming days."

Projectplaylist.com

This site allows you to search and listen to pretty much any song immediately without having to download it first. It does this by showing other sites that stream your song and allowing you to save these links. You can also save songs, create playlists, and share them with other people. The great thing is, you can look for people who have similar music tastes as you and and checkout their playlists for new artist/song recommendations.

Wunderground.com

Weather.com is SO 2000-and-late. Enter Wunderground, or Weather Underground, which gives you everything you will ever want to know about the weather, including earthquake activity, air quality, astronomy, sports weather, etc. In my opinion, it is also more accurate than other weather sites, and there are live updates from weather stations all over your city, so you can always consult with other sources. If you look up The Mission, San Francisco, it even says "The Mission- Even the Weather is Hip." Now that's cool.

Nextbus.com

Every person who lives in an urban area should know about this website. NextBus provides real-time bus arrival information so you know exactly when buses will come, not just when they should come. This concept is such a great idea because it takes some of the unpredictability out of transit use. It's about time something like this was devised, and I think it'll help encourage people to use transit more often. A bonus features is you can even use text messaging to check arrival times now (although the process is a little complicated still and could probably be improved). The next step is to get NextBus at every bus stop! Way to go NextBus, keep improving this technology and keep expanding your services!
