Woolboots.co.uk - payment taken for ugg boots - but nothing received. Unable to contact the site. - Think I may have been taken for a ride ! - Does anyone else have experience of this Site.
Thanks
Did you check and see if that website was on the approved list of sites by Ugg? Below is a link to the conversation I started and in it is a link to all of the approved stores that sell Uggs. If the website is not on the list, then you had better try and get your money back quick. Write a review on sitejabber about that site and warn everyone else too.

Chinese owned site registered in Luxembourg, and there are multiple giveaways that this site is yet another of the many phonies out there. Of particular concern, this one is also trying to persuade customers to pay by wire and that always means scam, bye bye money. Move along, nothing to see here.
Thanks guys - one disappointed daughter - learnt my lesson the hard way
Yeah...live and learn. Call your credit card company and keep your toes crossed.
So sorry, but you can help stop others falling for the same traps. Post a review of the site here on SJ, complain about it anywhere that consumer complaints are welcomed, tell your friends and anyone else who'll listen that they need to check out the information that Tracy has linked to above. Especially pass the message that any site with any of the UGG trade names or the letters UGG in it's address, unless it is the official site at www.uggaustralia.com, is phony. Yours wasn't one of these, but the vast majority are and that's where most people seem to be getting fooled. Tell your daughter to tell her friends. We can't stop these people but we can sure make it difficult for them to make a profit out of us.
It's so sad that we can't trust what we see any more. Well I guess we never could, entirely, but it's far far worse now than I've ever known it and I've been around the web for about 14 years. I have to double-check every site I plan on buying from, and trust nobody unless I've dealt with them before or they come on someone else's recommendation. And this is while a huge part of the world isn't even online yet, plus we're only talking about English-language sites. It's going to get worse before it gets better, I'm afraid.
Sad is right. I find it hard to believe there are people out there that make their living creating websites with the sole intention of stealing our money. The government and credit card companies are powerless to stop them it seems. Chris is right, we have to stick together in order to stop this madness.
Thanks Chris and Tracy - I have reported this to my credit company and I will write a review - just disappointed in myself for not checking it out first and the fact that people can do this.
From everything I read, people do feel disappointed in themselves, to put it mildly, when they get caught like this. But the blame needs to be placed squarely with the confidence tricksters, not with the people they con.
In the course of both work and pleasure I've seen hundreds of thousands of websites over the years and I'll still get caught myself if a con trick is good enough to be convincing and I don't know better. I don't doubt that if I'd wanted to buy someone a pair of these boots for Christmas and hadn't known about the counterfeit trade, I'd have handed over my money too. But now I do know, and we know, and we'll keep on telling people, because knowledge is power and it's our only defense against this trade.
We should have a better defense: if credit card companies, and PayPal, and the companies that provide checkouts for these people were to withdraw their services when they found illegal dealing, we could cut off the scammers' sources of income and force them to beg for wire or money order payment. All the fakers would stand out a mile. It's not hard to prove who's faking, by and large, and if we can do it, it's certain that the card companies and everyone else involved can do it. Sadly, they have other interests than those of their customers, it seems.
Chris is exactly correct. Paypay and credit card companies make money when you get your fake good and when you get scammed. Their interest is in that of the business owner and taking their 3% of the transaction. They fight for the business of providing merchant services to companies.
