absolute con. they set a delivery date for after the 7 day statuary cooling off period to cancel, then don't delivery/reply/answer phone or man up. People like these need shooting and one day Mr G Long someone will catch up with you. I have had to contact trading standards and start the process of the distance selling agreement...not holding my breath. STAY AWAY!!!

The customer service department was excellent - no automatic voice recognition or 'push 1 for this / that', but instead a very nice man called Jeff who was exceedingly polite, knowledgeable and helpful.

The only downside to this site is that their delivery is rather slow, at 6-10 days.

After listening to every MJ song ever written in Q2, I had to give up. This isnt a company the size of BT. Avoid these lot, I have been waiting 10 days for something they obviously do not have. Will make a personel visit to them in Sutton, and kick some arse.

I placed an order for a WiFi adapter on 20 June 2010. The order has still not been delivered after almost two months. There is no answer to the phone number provided and the voicemail is full. I have emailed numerous times and there has been no response. I have, as of yet, been unable to retrieve my money (£54.00).

I question the legitimacy of thegadgetspot.co.uk and advise that it be avoided at all costs.

I got the same spiel about system issues and five day processing. No sign of the item yet, it is nearly four weeks now. Time to call up the bank and dispute the transaction.
Avoid them like the plague.

all calls to there 020 + 0843 telephone number go unswered, as do voice mails + emails.

No ability to cancel order or talk to anyone from this company.

badly run webiste. order an audio system for £301. was in processing for 2 weeks. they were not responding to my emails. finally got one once the delivery est had passed. they gave me the money back for the delivery £25 and said it would be shipped on monday or tuesday. Now no responce again.

Also seen on other websites members of the company have been writing reviews for them selves and the owner attempting to save the "companys" reputation.

I'll be calling my bank now and getting my money back the only way that seems psobile.

Rubbish customer service. No reply for customer queries. Called on 0843 no and keeping waiting for 15 min in a Q position 1 and no response. Can not even cancel the order. Extremely RUBBISH.............

Same here - prices seemed attractive so I ordered a 1TB 2.5" HDD (£143). They took the money pretty much immediately but after a week there'd been no change in the online order status - sat at 'Processing' - so I emailed to ask how much longer it was going to be. No reply so next day I ordered the same item from Amazon at £157 (it arrived next day) and emailed this lot to tell them to cancel the order. A week later no response so I try phoning - on the phone as I write this - great Michael Jackson tunes playing in my ear but no sign of anyone answering. Absolute rubbish - avoid at all costs!

have you managed to get any of your money back? i've been emailing dailey and got no responce.

Hi Stephen

No - but it's early days yet. It is however clear they're up to no good - as well as ignoring email they're also ignoring the phones - their phone system pretends that you're in some queue and you work your way down to position 1 then - *nothing*. I called them from work and was at position 1 in the queue for over 40 minutes before I called it a day.

My next step is to contact RBS (my card issuer) with a view to obtaining a refund via the Visa Chargeback scheme. If you didn't know this is a customer protection scheme operated by Visa International which applies to purchases made by debit cards - providing similar protections to those legally guaranteed by the Consumer Credit Act when purchasing good/services by credit card.

Step 2, irrespective of whether step 1 works out, is to contact the local (to gadgetspot) Trading Standards office and ask them to pay them a visit.

I suspect however that the firm may have gone under, in which case step 2 will likely be fruitless.

I take it you purchased from these fools too? If you paid by credit (rather than debit) card and the purchase total was £100 or more you should be covered by the Consumer Credit Act - failing that if you paid by a Visa debit card I suggest you contact your issuing bank about Visa Chargeback, and in either case drop Trading Standards a letter or call explaining what's going on.

Best of luck mate.

paid with visa. £301. once the delievery est had passed i sent another email and got a responce saying it would be shipped monday/ tuesday and here is your money back for the shipment. I dont know if i have got that yet. Now i har nothing at all.

just spoke to the bank, no refund of £25 has been given. Have to wait 30 days from when the product was ment to be delivered.

What a joke of a website. After repeat emails requesting to cancel the order I just recieved a status update. "preparing for delivery"

Hi again

I've just received the following email from them...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Brian

We would like to take this opportunity to explain for the delay in your order and the reason why your product is not with you at this time. We have been in the unfortunate situation where our system lost a considerable amount of orders and we were not able to process the orders. This situation has now been recovered and products are starting to dispatch again. To add the othe problems we have had we also have had considerable problems with our telephone service where customers have been left at the front of the queue when calling but our system has not put the call through to the next available Customer Care Assistant.

Your order will ship in 3-5 days time and be with you in 6-7 days.

We are really sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused you and many customers so we would like to offer the following to you regarding your order:

If you wish to still proceed with your order we will refund the delivery cost plus £5 of your order cost and this will be refunded back to the payment form that you made.

If you do not wish to proceed with your order we can cancel the order and we will refund your full order payment back to you. Please allow 7-10 days for this refund to be reflected into your account

We would also like to offer you a £10 discount voucher against a further future order should you allow us to show you are normal customer service. We are giving this voucher to all customers regardless of the customer cancelling their order or not. The code to use in the voucher box of the shopping basket is: GIFT

Once more we are really sorryu for the inconvenience so far and apologise for the long delay on your order. Would you please reply to this email to let us know if you wish to proceed with the order and have your delivery cost plus £5 refunded or you wish to cancel your order for a full refund.

Well i recieved my order on friday. I had emailed trying to cancel it time and time again with no responce. the delivery refund was not put back into the acount. I have emailed them about this aswell.

I'm not the most savey shopper in the world so do not know where i stand when it comes to screwing this company over.

Yes i did get my order in the end but i ordered it on the 26th of may. sent over 10 emails, got one responce.

I did not get my refund. and when I tried to cancel the order I was ignored.

You have legal rights to cancel your order within 7 days of receiving it - see

http://www.oft.gov.uk/about-the-oft/legal-powers/legal/distance-selling-regulations/

for details - or Google "Distance Selling Regulations".

They have no choice but to honour this. I had an occassion in the past where I ordered an air con unit and cancelled it and they refused to take it back without charging me a "restocking fee" of 20% of the original cost. I pointed out they couldn't do that - under this law they had to take it back. They ignored me so I contact the Trading Standards office nearest their base (I'm up north, they were down south) who sent someone round to their premises to speak to their top man. Within a day or two a refund appeared on my card.

If you no longer want the item and still can't reach them by phone, send the item back recorded delivery (so they can't deny having received it), add up all the costs you've incurred (including the cost of sending it back) and write a letter asking for that FULL amount back as a refund. Mention the distance selling regs and that you'd tried to cancel numerous times before dispatch and had been unable to reach them through no fault of your own. Put it all down in writing and send them the letter. Say you'll give them 14 days before contacting Trading Standards. If no refund comes through, send a copy of the same letter, with a covering letter, with full details of their name, address etc, to their local Trading Standards office and ask them to send someone round to check them out as you're having no luck making contact.

At least this way they'll get a visit from an official which may just give them the shock they need. I'm going to phone them this morning to see if I can get through and cancel my order. If not, this is the approach I'll take.

Good luck and keep me posted.

regards
Brian

If you visit their website you'll see they have a new phone number up there now - it's an 020 number rather than the previous 084... Anyway, I rang it, it went to voicemail so I left a message giving my order number and explaining that I've already sourced my item elsewhere and don't need it anymore. I wasn't that hopeful but have just received an email saying my order status has changed to "Processing For Refund" and asking that I wait 7 days for the refund to appear on my account. I'm happy enough with that. Good luck with your case.
