“I am glad I came here to read the reviews about this...”

Robert L.
8/25/14

I am glad I came here to read the reviews about this program. I knew with this program I would of been dealing with some kind of adware. Most all your programs of this type will have some sorts of adware included, but it was all the other things that were listed on this site that really made me decide absolutely no to this. I want to say thank you to the people who rate this for others to make a decision on crap like this.

“Unauthorized charge on credit card”

Regina M.
8/31/16

Before I knew anything about Television Fanatic's track record, I did sign up with them. Lo and behold one or two months later a charge appeared on my credit card for some recurring program -- Sports, no less. Funny since I hate sports of any kind. It got straightened out, but had I not caught this proposed theft, I would have been charged the fee month after month for all eternity.

This the best review site I've been to. I was happy I did not download the televisionfanatic.com Instead I purchased a ROKU and signed up with HULU Plus and Netflix. I was able to cut my cable from $135 to under $20 with my elected subscriptions and there are still hundreds of FREE channels covering about any subject imaginable. I can access almost all my channels on my PC, laptop, tablet and smart phone and feel safe doing so. Thanks again Jabber for saving me time and money.

Tip for consumers:
Do your homework there are so many cyber crooks and irresponsible businesses out there that can cause issues for your pc and your identity protection.

I have 2 friends who downloaded this and both regretted it. Malware/virus combination is what it appears to be. If you want a real option, that is legal Hardware that allows you to view ALL streaming content and is serviced and updated by a real company, you have to pay for it. Duh. But only one time. No monthly bills after that. And importantly, never download unknown software on your computer. On FB there's a page named kill my tv bill. Good info on how to cut the cord with cable and satellite tv.

Most of the complaints are much ado about (next to) nothing. Reviewers claiming this program wrecks their computer must have other issues. Here's what I did: 1) I first ran an anti-malware tool (Malwarebytes) to eliminate both malware and non-malware (Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP). 2) I then installed Television Fanatic. (I got no warning from Norton so there were no security issues.) 3) After successfully installing Television Fanatic, I ran Malwarebytes again. Malwarebytes found and removed roughly 20 PUPs, all non-malware. Not only that, but I found Malwarebytes had completely removed the Television Fanatic program as well. So, what else? Does it slow the browser? Probably, but I didn't notice any difference. Do you get unwanted advertising? Also probably, but where exactly can you get something for nothing? Will I shop around for a program that gives me today's game live? Yes, but we already knew Television Fanatic doesn't do that. Let's keep perspective.

I can't thank you all enough for giving me the heads up on this HORRIBLE nightmare of a "free" good time download. WOW! Television fanatic isn't even worthy of 1 star! It's a good thing my AVG told me to get out before it was too late!

Tip for consumers:
Stay away from TV FANATIC !

I have Chrome OS (Chromebase) and I cannot get this horrible malware off my browser! Every time I open up a new tab, this damn thing appears instead of the pure Google search page that is supposed to open up. Some one needs to destroy these damn people!

I'm confused here. It appears that some of these reviews may be for Televisionfanatic and others TVfanatic and some may be mixed up. The same goes with thepiratebay. Look at their address differences. TVfanatic and Televisionfanatic are seemingly different altogether but I don't want to find out the hard way so am avoiding both. I've heard good things about Thepiratebay but can't seem to find the correct one (one is '. Com' and the other '. Org' or something. I tried it and apparently got the wrong one and ended up with a mess. For now I'll stick to Crackle although their selection is limited. At least it didn't take over my 'puter!

Stay away from this SCAM! They will rob you blind! Why don't people take like 30 seconds before you install anything that is and find out the reputation of the product? Stay away from these scamming websites, it's easy to do your research on 3rd party websites with a good reputation. It took me less than 30 seconds to do my research with confidence. Also stay away from sponsored Ads from google searches. They are the first websites at the top usually two to four URL's, and one or two at the bottom that has an (Ad) in front of the website URL. There are scams on many sites, not just trashy website URL's.

I hope this helps someone!

I worked for IAC (parent company) and can tell you that marketers there are paid to plant reviews here. Easy to tell, they're all the more than one star reviews.

It's a browser hijacker. It's an ask.com trojan. The EULA says they collect your personal data and give it to "other IAC companies". Look that up in wiki. Would you want ANY of those people having your name, address, phone, etc?

Tip for consumers:
Don't.

I clicked a download to download ez video editor. Somehow it took me to a webpage to down load television fanatic Thankfully I remembered the name from Site Jabber. Your sight is now on my favorite list. A lot of these 'free' downloads are down right deceitful and border on criminal. Television Fanatic is one of them.

I down loaded their worthless program to try to watch some retro 80's sitcom TV. What a joke.! I could not access any of the programs that I wanted to watch with my family. The ineffectual tool bar was not working at all. I followed the installation instructions exactly. It was supposed to work. Thanks for nothing TV Fanatic. I should have visited this site before I tried to down load any thing from T. V. Fanatic. I would have not wasted my time. Fraudulent advertisement on line should be considered to be illegal too. Stay away from T. V. Fanatic. Unhappy in Oregon. :P :(

I'm glad I visit Site Jabber to read reviews on Television Fanatic. I figured something was fishy when it said toolbar. I remember few years ago on my computer I tried to download something and end up being a toolbar. Let me tell you it destroyed my computer! My computer never been the same since. I had a technician tried to fix it and said it would be best to buy another computer. When I thought about Television Fanatic and remember that colorful toolbar, I said I will never do that again! STAY AWAY, IT A SCAM!

Thanks For The Warning! All we consumers need is more ad-ware, like we need more junk in our mailboxes. I knew when a "Free!" invitation appeared in my Promo folder of my E-mail from Tiger Direct, that it couldn't be up to any good at all. I'm bookmarking this SiteJabber so I can check in & get the low-down on the next so-called "Free!" scam. Thanks again.

I tried to go on the website, but it prompted me to download it onto the Google toolbar which I left. Apparently there is no way to get on the website without downloading it on the Google toolbar.

Regarding TelevisionFanatic.com, the first thing I want to say is: SHAME ON YouTube for allowing this thing on their website!

Even though the thought of "This is too good to be true" was rattling around in the back of my mind, I was about 2 seconds away from clicking the "Install" button on TelevisionFanatic.com, when it hit me: "Google this thing first, you big dummy!" Boy, am I glad I did!

Granted, all I have to go on are the reviews on Sitejabber, but, out of the dozens of reviews I read, there were NO positive ones. They all said basically the same thing: "Don't do it, This thing is bad/virus, Cannot get it off my computer", etc.

My only regret is that I had to give it 1 star to write this.

Thank goodness for Sitejabber!

Consumers are calling television fanatic a virus. These charges are coming from consumers at various websites. How come television fanatic doesn't come out and rebuke these charges vigorously? They don't because they are true. That's my conclusion.

YUCK! I just spent 2 HOURS with H/P Smartfriend (they're awesome by the way), getting this malware off my computer. I wish I would've read the reviews about this stupid site first. Do not go on this! It's bad, bad, and evil.

It says it is free but it is not free. Then it said to give credit card info even though it is free. I gave two different CC's and it turned down both. Crazy! I have great credit and used one earlier today.

For those of you wondering why there are positive reviews and what is to gain, it's very simple, they are paying people through crowdsourcing sites to write positive reviews. I ran across it on the Microworkers site. I figured it was better to warn people about it than gain a whopping 20 cents and possibly convince people to infect their computer with viruses and malware.
