This is a specific railroad history site, specializing in Florida and the adjacent states that had rail service moving into Florida at the turn of the century to tap into the lumber boom. There are some very good photographs of the early railroads and their rolling stock, and some very good, detailed histories of some "forgotten" railroads. The research behind the histories is very complete.

T N. A couple years ago a man named Henry Posner III visited my school in Guatemala. He comes from a family of railroad pioneers. Do you know his name by any chance? In any case, his visit sparked in me a realization of just important the railroad system is to our country and how impactful it could be in a developing country like Guatemala (if only the government could see that!)
sam d. Hi TN,
I have heard of Mr. Posner, because he is the President of the Iowa Interstate Railroad, a shortline railroad in the US...and there was a good article in TRAINS magazine about his railroad. If you Google his name ... there is a pretty interesting set of articles about him, plus a nice short biography. He seems to be an interesting guy.
